Only gave one star because zero stars isn’t an option. I went here to buy my wife a gift card for Valentine’s Day. I said «make it for a hundred» only to find out they made it for $ 400 the next day. My wife and I went in the next day to get it straightened out, the staff in the store was helpful and said the owner would be in contact. Days went by and still nothing from the owner. I called again and the staff followed up with the owner and said they would issue a refund and that I would see it in the next 7 — 10 business days. Two weeks later I followed up to find out nothing had been done and I had to come to the store to get the refund issued (and wait another 7 – 10 days). I then asked for a full refund, but the owner refused to issue it. I hope it was worth the $ 100 as I watched two people put down items they were going to buy as I sat at the register waiting to get this sorted out and my wife will never shop there again. And what type of store puts restrictions on what you can buy with a gift card? Shouldn’t it be the same as cash? You know you’re a penny pinching owner when your own employees complain about the minimal discount they get in the store!

I must say that I have always been happy with the warm welcome even when I am just looking around and getting inspired
Last week I bought 2 pieces of jewelry (one a gift and one for myself :))
The next day the necklace broke and all the beads Fell over the sidewalk. I went right over and the staff was great, and quickly offered a replacement.
This is wonderful customer service and very much appreciated!

I also love the products they offer as they are more unique then things you find in chain stores — refreshing!

very disappointed. I used to love pookie and sebastian as my go-​to for cute tops and pants. God forbid I purchase a pair of pants that I later decide don’t fit me quite right, especially for the steep price point of $ 130.
Their return policy, regardless of tag and receipt, is INSANE. Store credit only for a return within 7 days, 7 DAYS. Who has the time to trek back within this ridiculously short window to return clothes? I live in Brooklyn and knew I would be unable to make it to any location within that window and during the holiday season at that. I called to ask the salesperson what my options were considering I don’t live near any of the locations and their online presence is a joke. She reassured me that I could exchange the pants for store credit beyond the 7 days… this I could handle (not even looking for a full refund, which would also be a normal request).
So, after the holiday, I went back and am now told that I can only exchange the same pair of pants for a different size, but no store credit to purchase something else.
The pants I have are my size, the fit just doesn’t justify the $ 130 price point. Now I’m stuck with a pair of pants that I cant wear.
To ebay they go…

DO NOT GO. This is a company looking to make a fast buck on overpriced, low quality but trendy clothing. This store will not stand by its products. I bought a poncho there recently. I wasn’t sure about it because it was slightly damaged but I noticed that there was a 7 day return policy so I said to the sales girl «At least I can return it». She never mentioned that it was store credit only. Too many other stores in NYC with much better cust. service and better quality. This is a loser store.

I like this cute little clothing store. such nice things. however I didn’t find them to be the most helpful or pleasant when you walk in, unless you are probably a regular or pencil thin, which I am neither. they have that smug lil attitude like they could be but so bothered with you… thank God my skin is a little tougher and I don’t depend on someones help, I know how to look at things on my own and ask questions when I need the help, however it would be nice to treat all customers with consideration. make them feel warm & welcomed.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICES. They do not care for customer satisfaction in the least. I bought a dress and when I got home realized that is was much more reveling than I would have liked when I tried to exchange the item, not return, just exchange the employees said it was impossible even though this is a new item being sold. Makes no sense to me but it is clear they do not care for their customer satisfaction.

Overpriced! The sale rack should be the starting price of the item. The stores are well made, boutique look therefore give a luxe feel and attract clients. Clothes don’t fit well and don’t last long.

Beautiful, stylish clothes and accessories — excellent customer service.
Their stuff is high-​end and priced accordingly. They do, however, usually have some kind of clearance sale that allows for excellent deals. Some of my favorite pieces come from P&G — necklace, jeans, killer dress, casual tops, belts. In the past, I shopped there mostly for going out or casual because I use to work in stuffy corporate environments. My new company is stylish-​professional so I think I will start shopping here for work.
Their clothes fit me very well — I’m 5’3″ and curvy. I don’t like shopping at places like the gap and banana republic bc the waist is too loose and butt and chest is too tight. P&G, Benetton, BCBG. .. these places that also fit me well in case that is helpful.
Their staff is, helpful, friendly, outgoing, cool but not overbearing (not pushy sales people). I also like that they keep your info in a database so they know what you like and what you have purchased in the past. They value relationships with their customers.
I use to go there all of the time until I moved out of the neighborhood. Just went back today and the store is closed for renovation. COME BACK P&S!

Be aware of their return policy, which is in store credit ONLY – EVEN if the item you are returning is defective (in this case, an openwork sweater with runs) and EVEN if it looks as if its a manufacturing problem and therefore the replacement could also have the same defect.
There was nothing else in the store that appealed to me, nor is likely to in the near future. And where is the compensation for my time involved in having to go back to the store to return a defective item?
Everyone is very nice, but this kind of policy is unacceptable, and the reason so many people prefer to shop online or in department stores than small shops.
I will not be shopping here again.

I’m trying to understand how this horrible shop got three and a half stars on Unilocal.If you dont want to leave the store feeling ripped off then dont shop here. You can honestly get the same stuff in cheaper stores like H&M and Forever 21. They have a really strict return policy. I can understand why sale items are final but ive never been to a shop that makes jewelries final sale as well. I wanted to make an exchange but the sales assistance where afraid to call the to owner to verfiy whether they can make this exchange. I told them to call me back even if he saids no. They said will and i never got a call back. This store will definitely not make it in nyc. I hope they eventually get closed down so no one else would get ripped off. Very angry. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE !!!

Seriously in love with this place. I discovered the one by my old apartment — in Murray Hill — and it was hard to NOT go in on my walk to the gym. Everything is pretty moderately priced (with a few items such as handbags being a little overpriced), and the selection of clothing is always changing. Accessories here are great too, and really cheap. I was going to happy hour after work one day and wanted to wear something besides my work clothes, I so I bought a pair of black shorts, earrings and tank for $ 60. Not too shabby. Sales people are very friendly too.

One of those hit or miss boutiques. They have some GREAT pieces for decent prices, but thrown in there is also bunch of ugly clothes and jewelry that is way over priced.
There were a couple of items I absolutely fell in love with, but I knew that I could have bought them elsewhere.
There was one GORGEOUS sequined dress for 300+ dollars, but I think it would probably have been to most worth it to buy because it was so unique and so well-​made. The fabric was good, stitching was good… style was good too.
This store is definitely for people who sort-​of have a sense of fashion. You will definitely look nice dressed in anything in this store, but you will not always look up to date or stylish. It is pretty «east-​coast» boutique catered to women in their mid to 20s, possibly early 30s.

The clothes are trendy and cute but poorly made. Not worth the huge price tags. SKIP.

A really cute little boutique in my neighborhood, super convenient when you’re in need of a last minute outfit.
The selection is pretty decent for the size of the store and they carry a good range of sizes. A bit overpriced for the quality, but nothing totally ridiculous. Blazers were about $ 75, shorts & blouses were $ 50, jeans were $ 100.
They have a great selection of jewelry, as well as a small selection of bags & shoes. Staff is super friendly.
I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to shop here, but if you’re around the area, it’s worth a stop.

I gave a low rating to the Pookie and Sebastian store in the UES, but am giving a higher rating to this location purely based on customer service.
While this store is certainly suited to the long and lean, I had to unfortunately go back since one of the items I had purchased really did NOT fit. I was dreading it since last time I had such trouble finding anything there that really was my style or worked for my body. However, what a pleasant surprise — the store manager was so so nice and sweet, and made the whole experience waaaaay better. She was able to give me 2 – 3 pairs of jeans that were better suited for curvy petite bodies. She really knew how her merchandise fit on different body types, and best of all, she was really sweet, nice & gave excellent feedback. If you’re ever in this store, ask for Doniella… I’m now finally happy with what I got from Pookie and Sebastian, even though it took a while to get it right.

At first glance this place has cute, fun, classy clothes.
At second glacé everything is overpriced.
At third glance many items are not well made.
I go in solely for their sale rack.

This store tries to be ~high end~ but I don’t see it. They have an in-​house brand that’s cute at first glance, but then you look a little closer and realize that what they’re really selling is some mass-​produced polyester dress for $ 150. If you want cheap clothes that are mostly going to be knockoffs of higher end stuff, at least go to Forevs and pay WAY less than what they’re charging here. Or Mystique Boutique or Strawberry (which I bet uses the EXACT same vendors/​designers). Otherwise… spend that $ 150 on something nice that isn’t a complete throwaway piece.

Apparently I’m not skinny enough to shop here, can formulate full sentences and don’t have THAT much money to burn. Overpriced everything and I rather do Saks for my slurge then here any day.
Too small a selection but a good local store for that quick outfit for a date. Clean.

This is another one of my local spots which I tuly enjoy. The staff is Very personable not stand off or stuffy. P&S carries great fitting jeans and nice layering cotton t-​shirts which come in handy on those days when you want to look good without much effort.
The accessories are very unusual and fun. If you happen to visit check out the jewelery case. It is stocked with the not so typical pieces.

Had to hit my local hit-​or-​miss boutique one more time before I left NY. Pookie has a great selection for day wear or a quick night out, especially if you live in the Murray Hill area. They are most like the independent’s shops on Melrose/Venice…sometimes Hit or miss, but usually you get something you love and don’t see everywhere else, unless you spend much more.
Not sure where other reviewers got the H&M disposable clothing thing?!? All the tops and dresses I have purchased from Pookie have always lasted very well, and the quality and tailoring aspects are miles from Forever21.
Beware, however, of the too-​short-​dress. The girls in the shop likely work on commission as they will tell you a dress you in no way would want to bend over in looks like the «perfect length» on you.
