Producers Club Theaters & Bar

The Producers Club is by far my absolute favorite place to produce shows! My theatre company IRTE has produced its last two seasons here and we couldn’t have been happier! An incredible location right in the heart of the theatre district, close to all transportation, it houses five stages, as well as a large rehearsal room that can be (and has been) easily converted to a flexible performance space (a la black box). The building itself is kind of old and funky, but that, I think, is part of its off-​beat charm. Rentals are also very reasonable — a huge plus for small independent and budget-​conscious companies (esp in a city where affordable spaces for small indie theatre is a dying breed). Another huge plus is the bar, which unlike most theater bars, offers inexpensive drinks — great for meeting up with your audience after shows. The biggest plus is Freddie the Manager who goes above and beyond to make companies feel welcome and troubleshoot any last minute problems. A really great place!

No stars if I could. I had my artwork on display here and the producer’s club personnel vandalized my art. I inquired about who was responsible and why the vandalization occurred and Freddy the manager got confrontational up in my face and told me to «get the fuck out». My art was clearly vandalized by their staff as the paint stain used to vandalize my art matched the paint stain used on the plywood and moldings on their second floor bar area. I have before and after photos as proof and evidence and I will post them soon. Freddy told me to sue him for damages. I may just do that since he asked me yet I would like to ultimately know who did the vandalization. Freddy brushed the blame off onto a group of people renting the space from him (another attempt to discredit the integrity of fellow artists). I call for a boycott of the producer’s club. It is additionally a filthy establishment that should be shut down by the Board of Health. My art was moved and damaged one of my pieces that was taken down by their staff was also put back up upside down with a thumb tack through the piece ignoring the hanging attachment I had installed on the back of the piece as well as the label that clearly showed which way the piece was originally hung. Anyone who is anyone in the arts knows that this place is not the place to build a career as there is no integrity in it’s name. I knowingly took the risk of theft or damaged and entered my work as part of a monthly series with an outside organization. However, this vandalization was blatant by the producer’s club staff. May a cloud of NYC locusts descend on this establishment and shutter it’s doors once and for all!

Negligent, dishonest, and irresponsible.
The theatre I was in had a broken armrest with very sharp edges that tore the pants of my suit. Freddie, the person on staff, told me at the time and by phone that the organization would pay to have them replaced and do «whatever it takes to make it right» as they were clearly at fault.
Since then they have not responded to multiple inquiries and have also ignored a Better Business Bureau inquiry.
Their rep was very invested in telling me everything would be taken care of when I was in their space and then completely ignored all follow ups to take him up on that.
Needless to say, this is a comment on both the state of their facilities and their service.

A cool little old off-​off Broadway theater.
You have to climb a very steep set of stairs with a marginally useful handrail to enter and exit this venue. The theater seating is fairly comfortable, even though the seats look older than dirt. The center aisle is wide enough to accomodate a couple of chairs if you have a bigger audience.
If the walls could talk you would probably be laughing hysterically because this was the location of Budd Friedman’s original Improv which brought forth Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Andy Kaufman etc.

I tell you what. The theatre is small, and there’s very little ventilation. Read: I almost had to run out — past the actors, while they were on stage — to curb an anxiety attack, but instead, I sucked my empty water bottle dry and chanted myself into a state of self-​induced air-​conditioning. That aside, it’s a great space, and the bar comes handy. I will be back. um, yeah!

Only knocking off a couple stars because it’s such an old building and the seats were unvomfortable but the production was top notch and it was a nice intimate setting. The park staff was very nice even though they didn’t have a fully stocked bar

We went there this evening to see a play that a friend of mine was performing in. The theater is small, although the seats aren’t as uncomfortable as they look. It’s a very bare-​bones set-​up, but no matter; all of the actors were amateurs (therefore it was a terrific opportunity for them) and they did a great job. The big negative is that the theater is up two steep flights of stairs and I have bad problems with one of my knees. However; contrary to what a few other people have mentioned, there was toilet paper in the (women’s) restroom — and someone else mentioned the lack of heat, but actually we found the theater to be too warm.

I first went to Producer’s Club as a theater goer and enjoyed the play, and the theater setting. A year later I was hired by a company to do lighting at the theater. I loved coming to the Producer’s Club everyday because not only are the who owners incredibly helpful, they really make you feel like family. I have used the Producer’s Club facilities EVER since! For years now. It is that kind of place, where you just feel you don’t need any other location.
I’ve held auditions, meetings, group events, charity events, performances, and rehearsal here. They also have a bar in the lounge area where you can buy super cheap booze and use the WIFI. If you need help with anything, Freddie and Ernesto, the owners will help make it happen.
They have different sized theater spaces and rehearsal spaces at different prices. I highly recommend this place for any of your producing needs! :)

tiny and no heat!

My daughters film was screening there today, it took us 3 hours to get there due to traffic… We had a dozen people and a disappointed daughter that missed the entire screening! After getting there and telling them the story they offered to show us a private one due to they were running early! I just want to thank them in a big way, and happy that the customer service they provided was amazing! Not sure even to thank however if your looking for a place to show your film I would choose here! The bar was great too! Lol!

I performed in a show here very recently so I got to see things that the average reviewer might not. First off, they do have a nice warm up/​backstage area for performers. Second, the stage & setup for the shows has a nice, intimate feel without making you feel claustrophobic. The lack of handicap access was a tad problematic for me as I was still healing & trying to take it easy on my ankle but the people I was performing with/​associated with for the performance were extremely helpful, kind, considerate & all those good things.
The bar downstairs is also nice. You get a great view of the city on one side & on the other is a nice leather couch with what appears to be another stage. Perhaps that’s where they have those open mic nights I’ve been hearing about. I also got to go into another large room that was hot for some reason but spacious & right near the bar.
After personally being at this venue & hearing so much about it, it seems inevitable that I’ll be back sometime.

This is the place to go if you are an artist or if you appreciate art at all.
I have been in the theater scene for years and it’s undeniable that the best work is Off– Off Broadway.
This is the place to see shows and artists before they are expensive and inaccessible.
The owners of the Producer’s Club are so kind and helpful and are on the cutting edge for what’s next .
You can come here and see Shakespeare, Avant Garde theater or my favorite Independent film (check out Zef Cota’s Short Film night)
This is also a great rehearsal space and the lounge has drink prices that are unbeatable.
Plus you never know who you’ll run into from Ron Ryan (NY undercover, Money train etc), Kenny Kramer (the Inspiration for Kramer on Seinfeld) Flint Beverage (Another Earth) or Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister)

The Producers club is a great place to develop and network and the staff is fair and cool. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good film festival to go to as the Hell Kitchen film festival is packed with amazing films.

I currently have a film screening at New York Hell’s Kicthen Film Fest which is run by the owners Of The Producer Club.
The place itself is reminds of what New York used to be and it is kinda cool in it’s own right.

Went to a party there last night with a live jazz band and a ton of free food, some belly dancers and a psychic who told me I’d drink more than I planned to and over-​eat to the point of near death. I told her «thank you captain obvious.» Good times!

The Producers’ Club has cultivated a terrific home for the indie theater community — a supportive working environment and a vibrant community of theater artists. The management always takes a heartfelt interest in the work artists set out to do; they do everything they can to help them realize their visions. This sentiment is rare in most New York venues. With it’s charming and intimate performance spaces, versatile studios and devoted staff, you won’t feel quite as at home in any other space in town.
Plus: They are in the process of undergoing many renovations. I can’t wait to see the improvements, after they’re complete!

Very off off Broadway theater with its own charm. I came here to see a friend’s friend perform in a play called Cucumbers. The theater is small — could hold about 40 people — but cute. You could hear street noise, which was the only major drawback. Good sized bar area, well-​stocked, friendly staff. Bathrooms are a bit iffy, avoid if you can. They didn’t have any toilet paper.

This is a very small theatre which is good for students who want a piece of the pie in the theatre industry. The dilapidated stairs are indeed uneven as patrons enter. This theatre is very tiny in size yet has the potiental to break new actors, directors, and producers as rising stars. The theatre needs TLC with comestic survey as it appears in a state of disrepair, thus four stars. The bathrooms are even smaller with no basic TP to be supplied. There is an in-​house bar which accomodates after-​show reception.

I went here one time thinking I was signing my sketch comedy troupe up for a fun night of comedy, theater, stand-​up, etc. We get there and they have us waiting in this lobby/​bar area upstairs. We wait for about an hour – one of my fellow sketch players and I – and then finally get escorted into what I presume was some sort of theater space. We have a bit rehearsed thinking they’re going to ask us to audition, let us try out material, whatever.
No.
We go in and they’re like, «Okay, so you do sketch, huh? That’s great. So what we need you to do is take this packet and then sell all these twenty-​dollar tickets to all of your friends. You can do whatever material you want on stage as long as it only goes for about fifteen to twenty minutes.»
And that was it. They gave us a packet to sell tickets. Like we were in some sort of God damned little league raffle. I was disgusted.
Needless to say we never called them back, despite several desperate emails and voice mails, and we did not perform at the show. Okay show promoters, we’re going to make all of our friends – who would normally get listed or in for free or discounted – pay twenty bucks to come see our show.
Not that this rant had much to do with the actual Producer’s Club itself really. The club is nice. The bar seemed to be pretty well-​stocked and the drinking area was fairly large. The performance space/​green room area we were in was pretty cool too; it was large-​sized and looked like it could hold about twenty-​to-​thirty people.
But seriously, whatever the hell that «comedy festival» was can kiss my hilarious, Irish, ass.
