Since the 1980’s, Dr. Richard Gartner has been helping men overcome the trauma of sexual victimization.

Male sexual abuse is not widely acknowledged, but it is wide spread. According to academic literature, as many as one in six boys experience unwanted sexual contact from an adult or an older child by age 16.

Male abuse survivors tend to minimize their own trauma… which places them at greater risk for alcohol/​drug abuse, violence, gambling, relationship issues — before finally getting the help they need.

Dr. Gartner is a leading authority on sexual abuse of boys and its aftereffects in adulthood, and is frequently cited as a leading expert on the topic. He is a past president and is currently the Chair of the Advisory Board of Male Survivor: National Organization against Male Sexual Victimization, which he co-​founded in the early 1990’s.
