I took my macbook air here for a second opinion after the first place I went to told me I would need to completely replace the logic board for $$$$ and that it would take almost a week to order it.
Louis checked out my computer as soon as I walked in and told me he could fix it for half the price. He fixed it and even let me watch/​answered my questions as he worked.
In total it probably took an hour for him to get my macbook working like I had never spilled water on it (oops…). Very happy with the service & will be returning if I ever need work done again in the future!

My Mac Air screen was having issues. The color on the screen was blue but the screen was functional. When applying pressure on each side where the ribbons run, the color would come back as long as the ribbons were pressed. This led me to believe it was a problem with the ribbons.
I saw this shop gave free diagnostics, so I brought it here for that purpose. When describing the issue, the women at the counter told me they would have to open and see and that I would have to leave it. Steve over head this and said «with the the technology they use it’s almost always the screen» «but we’ll have a look» and told me their screen repairs are $ 325 + tax, which is reasonable. However, i thought what he said was weird since the screen was getting the single intermittently still (when pushing where the ribbons run) so I still wanted them to diagnose it. I had no intention of getting it fixed at the moment, but going back at a later date when I was financially in the place to do so.
I left my Mac Air. I expected a call letting me know the issue, instead I got an E-​mail saying to come in the repair had been done. What? I never gave my authorization or consent. So I called, I believe I talked to Louis and explained.
Louis told me I would have to talk to steve, as he just goes by what is on the notes, and the note said to change the screen. I never authorized this.
I asked for a copy of the intake they give you and it explicitly states «Our estimate is free. If you have agreed to a repair service, after signing this document, your device will be returned once payment is issued»
I never agreed to a repair service after signing the document, or before for that matter. Which New York State Code: § 180 needs to be applicable.
I explained this and I was met with lies from Steve. Now, I do not think he would lie on purpose, I just believe maybe he recalls the events incorrectly, or is having selective memory. However, Steve said: «I left the computer on the counter, and asked you if you would like to «repair it». You responded by saying «yes, that is fine».
This never happened, I was never asked if I would like them to repair it, and I definitely did not answer yes. This is why this is all very irksome to me now, as this apparent misunderstanding is becoming criminal.
Without my authorization New York State Code: § 180 does not apply to this situation, and holding my property in demand of payment is now extortion. Further to add to the extortion was this statement: «I am more than happy to hold on to the computer for you until you gather your funds. I would even give it back to you if you give me something of value to hold until you return with the payment (we’d have to see what that is first). «
putting collateral to get my property back that is being held for repairs I did not authorize.
I will continue to try and work it out, but at this junction I am very disappointed. Had I authorized this, I would just pay it. On top of this, I know they have CCTV cameras most likely with audio, so they could check it and see the exchange verbatim.
I will probably have to file a formal letter of demand for my property back, and pursue legal avenues, which I hope to avoid.
edit: Louis responded, for someone who claims I fabricated these events, his reply is sure littered with fabrications.
He states that he heard it from the back room. The first communication I made was via telephone and he had answered. He told me «I was not there, I just go by what is on the notes, you’ll have to contact steve» and gave me the days and hours steve works. Now all of a sudden he was there, and heard it from the back room? that is truly disingenuous.
I too had a witness with me who can attest I never gave consent to any repairs. Also the explanation he listed that he gave is also a lie, I was told «with the technology they use, they either get the signal or they don’t» «but we’ll take a look»
never was I given such an in-​depth explanation, nor was I ever straight up asked do I wish to repair it to which i responded «yes»

No bottled water at the door, no cutesy decorations, no numbered tickets to grab. This place just fixes computers and they do it well.
My first problem was a frizzy laptop that was refusing to function, hella scary as I only had one backup and I wasn’t super confident about that one. They said it was an old hard drive, replaced the drive, copied the data, upgraded the system, I picked up the computer the next day. Problem solved at a reasonable price, and fast.
Next, my kid’s laptop had a W key go broken (his fault, jamming that game key). And I do mean broken, not just popped out of its socket. Brought it in. A few hours later I was called to pick it up. No charge, just a tip if I wanted to. (I wanted to and I did!)
That’s what I want from a computer shop. Fixed computers. I can buy my own bottled water.

I’m very pleased with the quick and quality work this group did to repair my MacBook Air, which took a small spill and suffered a cracked screen.
I am generally not squeamish about doing some basic repairs myself, but when I looked at the cost of buying the parts, along with the trickiness of Apple’s construction on this model, I decided paying a small bit extra to have a pro do the job would be worth every penny. The cost was very reasonable, and super competitive compared with any other outfit I found.
This is also the kind of small business I want to support. They obviously work very very hard and hold themselves accountable for getting the job done as they promise to. I also love the owner’s profanity-​laden diatribes on youtube (he and I seem to share a complete lack of tolerance for BS).
I hope I don’t have occasion to need their services again — but if I do, I’ll do business with them again in a heartbeat.

Update Oct, 2015. Another great experience at Rossman!
My mac book pro would not turn out. deads…no lights. nothing…I called an Über and immediately brought it to Rossman. Did research and saw it could be a logic board, or power supply, or perhaps bad keyboard… repair ranging from $ 75-​$ 575 depending on what it was.
Three hours later, Steve, calls me…“it was a loose ribbon… get your MacBook” I arrive there and have my credit card ready to pay… the price. ZERO… they said no charge. Not only is that almost too fair I am sure many shops would have found as way to make it an expensive repair.
I am sure it took at least a half hour to diagnose, and they charge me no money… For the record, I donated $ 50 in Rossman’s name to a local charity that I will let them know of personally and not on here.
While Rossman’s location may be slightly inconvenient for those above 23^rd street, I highly recommend that anyone with any mac or iphone issue go to them and no one else!

Where do I even begin?
So I had issues with my mid 2010 MacBook Pro since back around March. Literally just had the battery fixed a few months before, only to have the screen flicker oddly and then go completely black on me. I was at a loss for a few months and finally decided to set out for a repair search once I had a recent photoshoot job set up in October. I found MacBook medic or whatever first, but after reading how they sometimes pressure you to replace the boards entirely and start going into other problems that were never previously even wrong (once it’s suddenly in their hands.) I decided against it.
So… I decided to look up diy ways to fix the graphics card issue and conveniently found the roasting your logic board in an oven videos. Skeptical at first, I though «well if this is the only way…» I was immediately stopped by a suggested YouTube video after that one finished. It turned out to be one of Mr. Rossman’s videos on why NOT to do that and why it could simply be a circuit issue before simply a piece of the board needing to be soldered onto the board.
After watching, I was so impressed that I started watching more and more that I became assured that this was the man who could get the job done. Call this story heavily biased for Rossman, but if this same part happened to you (which I’m about to bring up.), you’d be just as pleased.
So I sent it in around sept. 11^th I believe. Didn’t get there until around the 14^th. Called in a few times, but couldn’t get a hold of him. However as I had been following his current videos, I already knew he was going through some busy times and virtually was hardly getting much sleep. A few days later, around the 16^th, I finally got a hold of him and we went over the issues with my laptop. Turns out that it couldn’t truly be fixed and in the long run even if he did fix it, it would be a waste of my money and that id be better off aiming to buy a more stably built sort of laptop for my line of work.
He gave me suggestions, options and we even discussed a bit of his YouTube channel before he got off the phone. Overall it was a great experience. So… I ended up getting my full refund back even though I was told 20 would be taken out to send back the laptop andddddd I got the laptop back today only to see… That it turns on perfectly.
When I say I was deeply humbled at this moment, I truly was humbled. For him to actually still have it working now and give me a refund made me feel as if he gave me a blessing and I definitely stand by supporting his business. Although we went over stepping away from Mac based products, when I move to New York, I will definitely be buying a refurbished MacBook from him just to support his business.
This review is not to say you will get a full refund, as your cases may be different from mine and my issue could’ve simply been a simple fix for him along with this being a situation that’s still doomed in the long run since how Apple created this logic board’s design. However, this man gives top of the line service and stands by his morals. And if you don’t believe that, his business work and ethics shows for itself.
Update: after almost a week it’s back at it, but at least the screen is up. This gave me time to swipe up some of my important photos, but it’s done. Thanks so much for your help mr. Rossman. I couldn’t have gotten this without you.
For those who didn’t watch the video: this MacBook was doomed to fail but miraculously worked for a few days once sent back with full refund. Thanks to that I was able to pull files and plan to grab more ASAP.

Amazing, quick service AND it’s really cheap. They will diagnose what’s wrong with your electronic for free and then offer a price quote, which you don’t have to take but it’s fractions less than Apple repairs and other repair places. My MacBook retina screen was replaced for $ 4 – 500 less than Apple quoted me. I’ve also had iPhone batteries and buttons replaced.
I’ve been here twice (in the morning) and received same day service both times. They’re efficient and really know what they’re doing when it comes to diagnosing and fixing your electronics.
