I had an AMAZING first time experience here yesterday with a Gilt City deal. Unlike other places I’ve been, I did not feel like I received different/​lesser treatment when using the discount, and the entire staff was fantastic and so accommodating.
Eddie was nothing short of a magician. He brought life back to my overgrown layers and I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks, definitely one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. He is so warm and wonderful, striking the perfect balance of chatting with you while still very much concentrating on giving you what you came for — an amazing cut. I’ve found my new stylist in NYC, without a doubt.
Marcelo was also fantastic, she did my balayage and was so precise with her application, I knew before I saw the finished product that I would love it. She was sweet and easy to talk to (in spite of my extreme tardiness to the salon) and put me at ease with trusting someone new with my color. I came in with photos as inspiration and she not only gave me what I wanted, but even more than I had imagined.

Roy Teeluck is my favorite spot for my hair! I have two wonderful girls here that cut and color for me. Kali is amazing, super welcoming and trustworthy with coloring (she dyed my hair the first time ever)! Carrie is my go to for a great cut. I have very long hair and really hate when too much is cut off with any trim. Carrie knows the importance of listening to you with how much you actually want off the ends. This spot is very accommodating and relaxing, I would recommend it to anyone that wants some kick ass updates to their ‘do!

I had a wonderful experience getting a balayage treatment done to my hair, by the one and only Nancy Braun herself! Nancy was very professional and courteous from the time I walked in the door, and really listened to me when I told her what I was looking for. My hair hadn’t been colored in a while, and I desperately needed to freshen up the color, and blend in the old ombré that was going on near the ends. I really wanted beautiful, natural blonde and that is exactly what I got. Unlike traditional highlights, balayage seamlessly blends with your hair color so that there aren’t any unsightly roots once your hair starts to grow. I will definitely do another session with Nancy or one of the other balayage stylists in the future!

Guy-​Laurent. Best.Cut. Ever. I have been going to Roy Teeluck for eight years and have of course had phenomenal cuts from Roy, but Guy-​Laurent, who just started after coming back to NYC this summer, is phenomenal. The best haircut I have had in New York City.

This is my second time getting a cut/​style from Shab. She works miracles and her cuts are great quality. I won’t go anywhere else! Highly recommend her.
Michelle is an amazing artist with balayage. I got blonde highlights added and she is a pro at creating a non brassy/​natural blonde.
These two are a fantastic duo! I usually get my cut from Shab, then color a week later with Michelle.

I really wanted to like this salon, especially since I gave them $ 500 and over 7 hours of my life that I can never get back. I got a bad ombré about 9 months back and fixed it myself to the best of my ability. Since I’m getting married in a few months, I decided to spend whatever was needed to get the balayage color I really want. I booked an appt with Michele after seeing photos on Unilocal that I liked. I’ve learned in the past that hair stylists are not mind readers, so I had several photos that I showed her, and even asked «are the photos I’m showing you clear and consistent with one another?» she said «yes». First, she removed a dark color on my roots that I was unhappy with, as it was darker than my natural hair color. It worked, but my confidence sank when I saw how shocked she was that it worked. She also kept referring to my existing color as «black», but it was clearly dark brown.
Anyway, she then did my balayage highlights, and went to go work on someone else while I sat with the color. When I was ready to be washed, instead of toning my hair herself to achieve the caramel color in the photos I sent her (Another obnoxious thing was that she kept saying «your color may not look like mine», however her color was yellow and nothing like the photos I showed her, but I felt bad saying that), she has the girl who shampooed my hair apply the toner, who hadn’t even seen the photos I showed Michele. Then, they had a totally different person blow my hair out in a whole different section of the salon, never even bothering to come over to see my color. As he’s drying my hair I say «is my hair green?» and he says «yeah I can see a bit of a green tint». Let me add that I had now been here 4 and a half hours!!! Most of the time I spent waiting for Michele, who seemed to keep forgetting about me. The guy drying my hair shows Michele the green, and she takes me back to the sink to wash out the toner (why are you even using green toner when I want caramel highlights???). While waiting for the green to come out of my hair, I am starving and exhausted, and almost DIE when a giant cockroach crawls out of the bathroom. Even worse, I learn that this roach is a regular and they have a name for him… excellent. So my hair is washed again and blown out and I’m now dying to just leave after 5+ hrs, plus Michele does not bother to check my color, so I pay $ 400 for the service, $ 80 tip, and I buy a $ 30 product that’s recommended to me which I later learn is for platinum blond hair (so it’s essentially useless to me).
I go home, look in the mirror, and my hair is a total mess. The highlights are SO awful and uneven, and the color is a yellowish green! See photos.
So, I contact the salon to tell them that I’m really unhappy, and they schedule a redo with Michele. Michele then tells me that because of the condition of my hair originally, there was no way to achieve what I want with one visit. Are you kidding me telling me that now? Plus it’s total BS and she was making excuses for doing an awful job instead of just apologizing and fixing it. Anyway, she evened out the highlights, and again had the person shampooing my hair do the toning, and another person blowdry my hair. NOT ONCE did Michele or anyone else come to check out my color! In fact, when the guy was done drying my hair, he just left me in the chair, and said «Ok, all done» and walked away! I awkwardly took the salon robe off, and escorted myself out. I would have tipped again (reluctantly), but no shot was I going to give any more money to this place after receiving such bad service.
The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because my hair actually came out looking good after the redo, and it’s been a month since my visit, so my anger has worn off. Please, do not fork out several hundred dollars to this place if you’re expecting your money’s worth. I won’t post it here, but I have a fantastic colorist I can recommend to anyone who would like to contact me directly.

I finally found my colorist!
I usually dread going to the hairdresser because I am always very disappointed. But I looked at the great reviews on Unilocal and walked in. They were incredibly nice and immediately Russ understood what I wanted. He did a wonderful job on my black Asian hair, I had exactly the lighter color I dreamed of. He was so smart and nice ! I ll definitely come back

Best salon I’ve been to for color! I’ve tried a lot of places but this wins. Great atmosphere. Kali did a wonderful job on my hair and it is not fried after the single process and highlights. I got a manicure from the very sweet nail artist while I waited. Great blowout too. Will be back to try a haircut. Highly recommend! These guys are the best at balayage and highlights

I had a great first experience at this upscale salon getting my hair cut by Eddie Teboul. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and I felt welcome/​comfortable instantly. Eddie really aimed to please keeping in mind my preferences and thin curly hair limitations while also adding his artistic flair. He’s a great talent and I’ll definitely be back!

such a beautiful experience. i got my hair colored with Michele and she was very comforting, being that it was my first time coloring my hair i really needed the support and encouragement that she gave me. my hair looked like a bombshells. its unreal. im soo happy with the results. it is very expensive but you get what you pay for. the staff was very helpful and attentive. A+ experience

I have only wrote one other review. In other words it takes a lot for me to actually write one but I must say I am so happy with my color from Michelle (and I’m never satisfied)! I was a little skeptical about going to the salon on 5^th ave-​ritzy location and all-​but it’s totally unpretentious and it’s the first place I’ve even been really happy with the outcome. Shocking!
Michelle was really nice and down to earth, as was the assistant colorist Rosemary and Vince who blew my hair out. The customer service was great! I had gotten highlights from Bumble and Bumble downtown in Nov and really was not that happy with the result. I also felt the colorist and assistant both had an attitude and weren’t really concerned with given me what I wanted. It was almost like I was a burden. I kinda felt that well, this is the top of the line salon, I paid a lot of money, this is as good as it gets… guess it’s just me and my hair that will never look great. BUT I’m happy I didn’t give up trying and rather did some research and discovered Roy Teeluck salon and pics posted of Michelle’s work and decided to give it one more try.
It was not ridiculously priced for what you get. I am extremely satisfied with the entire experience. Even the cappuccino was delicious that they served me. Thanks so much for the amazing color! I will be back and def recommend your salon :)

I recently found Shab and made the commute from TriBeCa just to have her be my stylist. She is incredible! I had a really awkward cut from trying to grow my hair out from a pixie and she was able to make my transition phase a million times better by adding extensions to the front of my hair to give me a long bob. Shab is a Great Lengths extension specialist and the hair looks amazing and blends with my own perfectly. I will never go to another salon in NYC again. Shab is the best!

I visited Kali for a cut and to freshen up my color. I’ve been going to Kali for haircuts for years but this time I decided I need some color too. The color came out just as we discussed and I could not have been more happy. As per usual my haircut was a slam dunk :) I have curly hair and Kali knows exactly the right techniques to get the curls to lay just right! My blow out was perfection and my overall experience at he saloon was wonderful. The staff could not have been nicer or more welcoming. I can’t wait to go back.

I’m iffy about going back to this salon.
Even though I had a god haircut with Carrie (whom I met at her previous salon), I’m not happy with the customer service so far.
They had advertised that they were running a 20% special for Monday appointments. When I called to make an appointment for a Monday in August, they told me that the promo wasn’t happening during the summer. Ouch! Why didn’t they mention that in their announcement? This threw my plans off course.
When I called to find out when the promo would be back, Jeannette said she would call me by end of day with a answer. Never heard back from her. Doesn’t give me much confidence in their customer care.

Carrie has been my stylist for almost 10 years. Her haircuts are fabulous and flattering. Carrie creates styles that are unique and manageable for me to try to recreate while running out the door in the morning.

Definitely not worth the money I threw down at this high end salon. I booked a face framing highlight appointment with a haircut. When I got there, I was super excited to change up my hair and reading these great reviews.
My stylist didn’t seem to «get» asian hair… I might’ve also chose a blonde that was TOO blonde for my skin tone as well. But for the newer highlights he put in, it was splotchy and NOT natural (as well as brassy and orange). The haircut was nice, nothing too extravagant. After he dried my hair and styled it, I just wanted to go home after being there for so long. Not until the next morning at work I looked at myself in the mirror, I was so UPSET by the careless coloring. I called the salon back for the color correction and was accommodated that day.
When i went back my stylist agreed that it didn’t look «finished». He basically just put dark toner at my ends and hid the splotchy highlights. After my hairdrying it looked like I didnt dye my hair at all. I could’ve done without this whole entire process let alone spending almost $ 500 (RIDICULOUS!)

I saw Russ today for ombré Color, Shab for a blow out. Both are amazing talents! Especially considering my hair is VERY curly. The infamous Roy was there too & was so funny and nice to this lil gal from Brooklyn. I’ve had red color done here years ago (I posted a pic) and I’ve never received so many compliiments. It’s not a shot in the dark, it’s a place that can actually be trusted: D

I’ve been coming back here year after year… time after time for God even knows how long it just feels like forever. I have curly, curly hair and I do not allow anyone come close to my hair with a pair of scissors except for Ali my stylist.
Ladies and Gentlemen out there reading this review… if you have curly hair look no further this guy is the BEST! YOUR SEARCH FOR AN EXCELLENT STYLIST ENDS HERE! Ali spends a lot of time listening to my needs and offers his professional, artistic advice to achieve the look that I want. He can replicate any hairstyle from any magazine out there. I have tried and tested a lot of looks and every single time he has managed to do such an amazing job! I cannot brag about his work enough. If you walk in and have no clue what you want he will sit you down, take his time and suggest a look that would be most flattering to your face.
They also now have a new stylist Mia Moore. It was my first time getting a blow dry by her, I was a bit nervous but she put me right at ease, showed confidence in achieving the look I wanted and she actually delivered and did a great job! She is kind, soft spoken and very talented. She gave me an amazing blow dry. I came out looking fabulous and felt like a million bucks! Check out my pictures!
