History

Established in 1999.

Rue B is the signature bar of veteran restauranteur Peter DuPre. Created in 1999 when the neighborhood was a little edgier, Peter had a vision here that transformed this special little area into one of the most sought after locations for people all over the world.

After more than three decades of saloon keeping, opening and operating 12 restaurants, Peter opened this intimate, highly personal jazz lounge in his own beloved East Village neighborhood.

Blending a 40’s aesthetic, a love of photography, a perfectionists hand at cocktail mixing, and a sexy jazz soundtrack with a philosophy of relaxing hospitality, Rue B follows in the tradition of a timeless, welcoming neighborhood watering hole. Come check out the amazingly unique touches, such as the solid zinc bartop, incredible original photos, and a respectful tribute to olé’ blue eyes Frank Sinatra. If you look closer as you enjoy drinks, you may notice the more subtle touches of the antique pourers on the bottles and more!

Meet the Business Owner

Peter DuPre D.

Business Owner

Peter DuPre was raised the son of a master harbor pilot who lived and traveled to many different countries beginning at an early age. This worldliness has expanded his consciousness and transformed him into the world class restauranteur he is today.

Opening restaurants from a shell and building them out into karmic destinations for future customers to enter, has been a quality bestowed to Peter. Rue B contains all this and more.

Before embarking on the restaurant business, Peter graduated from Ohio University and had a chapter of his storied life spent in the acting world doing movies and television with a who’s who of Hollywood.

Finding that a charismatic personality would take him somewhere far, he began this new career in hospitality. With a history of successful establishments from Boston, Providence, and New York, after all these years, Peter has settled his businesses and personal life in the heart of this beautiful home Rue B calls the East Village.
