Manuela was fabulous. I was in search of shoes for heel spur therapy and Manuela was kind, patient and knowledgeable about what shoes I should try out. We went through about a dozen pairs and I tried them all out on the treadmill till I settled on one pair that made my heel Spurs feel better. Thanks Manuela!

After two unsuccessful attempts to find running shoes that fit me correctly at the Jack Rabbit store up the block, I decided to give RUN a try. A friend of mine who is a serious runner and a running coach suggested I go see one of managers at RUN named Mike. Mike gave me more insight into my particular running issues than any other salesperson to date– which I really appreciated. He was patient and laid back. I’ve been on a couple of runs with the shoes he recommended and I’m pretty happy with them. I also found a Timex Ironman watch on sale for a good price. Overall, a very positive experience.

Given the choice, I would make all my purchases online from the convenience of my own home but after ordering and sending back 5 pairs of sneakers that didn’t fit properly, I decided to go to an actual store so I could try on a pair before purchasing. After I explained to the sales associate that I wanted something primarily for running and cardio related activities, he asked me to run on a treadmill for a minute or so while a camera recorded the feet motion. The recording was played in slow motion and the sales associate made a few recommendations based on his analysis. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained what kind of shoes would be appropriate for my feet and running style. I learned a lot about running and injuries and even picked up a few running tips! I tried out a ton of shoes in different styles and sizes until I was happy with my selection. I never once felt rushed or pressured into buying a certain shoe. I’ve now been running in my Mizuno Wave Riders for 2 months and am very pleased with my purchase.

I really like this place as I’m always greeted by a cheerful, helpful staff and the running gear is definitely more cheaper than other stores in the area.
The numerous accessories I’ve purchased have been a fuel belt for $ 30, Timex basic running watch (no GPS) but has an 3 alarm settings, timer, chronograph, start/​split settings and indiglo ($ 30) and Adidas running climacool running shorts for $ 25.
I wish they had more Brooks running apparel but they’re definitely geared towards adidas, under armour and obviously Nike.
There’s always great deals here and I check in on a monthly basis for new stuff.

Best customer service I’ve seen in a shoe store.
I had a very negative experience at the Foot Locker on W 34^th by Broadway and came here on recommendation. The staff here was unusually friendly (in a good way), and could explain the differences between shoes in a much greater level of detail.
They also actually have a greater selection of wide sizes, despite being a smaller store.
Finally, and most importantly, my sales rep happily said I was better off going to a Nike or New Balance store for better selection! Even after they knew they weren’t getting a sale they continued to answer all of my questions patiently.
I only give a 4 star because it is, as they suggested to me, for variety you’re better off going directly to the Nike and New Balance stores in the 20s in Manhattan.
I could still easily see myself coming back here as a starting point for any shoe purchase, though.

I had a great experience at this location because of the excellent customer service.
At first, no one approached me, but perhaps they were giving me a chance to check things out on my own — I did come in when they were busier. Once I determined what I wanted to look at, the staff member who helped me was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. We did the «test» with the mat (where you place your feet on the mat and their computer displays where your pressure points are, arch is, etc.) and it didn’t seem too accurate, but he took a look at my feet and gait and gave me some suggestions — highlighting things I’ve noticed myself in the past (and helping to explain something I was unsure of). He was also patient.
They have a wide range of running shoes and while they didn’t have my size for my preferred shoe in the store, a second staff member helped me look online to see if it was on
. I ended up getting another shoe (which was on sale) because
also didn’t have my 1^st pick, but overall this was a great experience. The staff member helping me even brought up an additional color in my size that they didn’t have on display (because they only had larger sizes left in that color) and that was the one I ended up getting! I’d definitely recommend this location to someone.
Only downside is I wish selection (esp. size) was greater and there were cheaper prices — but that’s my wish for most stores!

Had a fantastic experience here. My partner and I came in to take a look, after a long day of walking in the city (one of many) left me with sore ankles and blisters on the arch of my foot. We both worked with the manager of the store – Mike, I believe – who is basically a superstar. He assessed both of us and was a professional and polite as could be. There was no pressure whatsoever, and I was treated with tremendous respect. I will take a moment to point out that I am a plus-​size girl, and staff in these types of stores can be rather dismissive of folks my size. This was in NO way the case with Mike, who was absolutely fair and clearly explained the reason behind my sore ankles (flat feet, a family trait). At this point, he had me try on several pairs of sneakers, and to my delight, recommended the least expensive in the bunch!
My partner was next, and got the same excellent treatment. High arches, totally different needs, great recommendations. In the end, we both made our purchases, and six months later, can both say there has been a tremendous shift in comfort and exercise routine. My ankles are supported and I don’t get any of the pain I previously had – making me exercise with much more frequency!
Overall, I have to say: professional, respectful, fat-​friendly, and knowledgeable. Can’t say enough good things!

I must confess: Run is NEVER my first stop when looking for running gear. But time and time again they come through when other stores don’t. For a small store, they usually have what I’m looking for.
I stopped in this evening to pick up a few supplies for a race coming up, and while they were out of some of the items I needed, the salesman (John) was nice enough to spend a few minutes chatting with me – more than the salesman at another local store which I won’t name (rhymes with hackbabbit).

Convinced by some Unilocal reviews that I should come here for the decent prices, I had quite a pleasant experience at Run by Foot Locker and am glad I shopped here. The clerk who helped me gave a good-​natured chuckle when I walked in and asked him if he had any running shoes for less than $ 100, but he devoted his full attention to me and took me seriously as a customer, and I appreciated the fact that he didn’t look down on me.
As a start, he pointed to some economical shoes that were relatively inexpensive, but said they were more ideal for people with high arches. I told him that I did, in fact, have high arches. He also asked if I had had good experiences with any particular brands in the past, and I told him, that, er, I am sort of at the beginning of my running journey. I probably do about 12 miles a week MAX, so I know nothing. And so, after our brief chat, he told me he’d bring out a couple pairs of shoes within my price range and disappeared to go find the shoes.
I tried on some awesome Sauconys that were $ 85, and I also tried the Asics Gel which were $ 50. My sales guy noticed I was more interested in the latter because of the price, so he made sure they fit well. He cautioned against having the toe too snug, because, as he said, the foot expands when someone runs. He also asked me if I planned on putting any orthotics in the shoes, and I fessed up – I have a heel lift that goes in my left shoe and another cushion that goes under my right sesamoid bone. At that point, he said, well, these shoes will be good, because you can place the orthotics underneath the pad of the sole and the shoes will be able to accommodate them. I tried the Asics and the sales guy made sure I walked around in them. I noticed that they had two treadmills in the store, but I didn’t feel so uncertain about the shoes that I wanted to run on them. Walking in the shoes felt good enough.
Because the shoes were $ 50, I benefited from the «no tax for items under $ 50» rule that NYC clothing stores follow. I was happy. Now I have some great new running shoes that have already improved my workout experience, and I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg! Thank you Run by Foot Locker for being friendly and knowledgeable.

This Shoe Locker is located in the middle of Paragon and JackRabbit, but it is really a good store for running basics. Their prices are really good (especially on sale apparel… I found the same Asics shorts here for $ 20 as was selling for $ 50 at Paragon!). The sales people don’t have the as much running expertise and experience as Paragon… but, they are friendly and can definitely help a more casual runner. Great for the weekend warrior — for the serious runner, the trip down the block to the Shoe Locker is well worth it.

Maybe I got unlucky, but the sales associate who «helped» me, really wasn’t much help at all. I did the whole running assessment — about 30 seconds on the treadmill — but I didn’t really get any feedback. He didn’t spend more than 3 minutes with me total or give me any suggestions. I do plan to go back though and see if maybe I just had bad luck.

As I have become a serious runner over the past year, I’ve been investing money and time in finding the perfect running gears. I’ve been to Niketown and Super Runner’s Shop but the associates there haven’t been as helpful as the ones at this store.
The great thing about this place is that they do the foot measurements for you with this computerized software, which helps you pick out the right sneakers. It’s almost like taking an X-​ray of your feet.
They have a huge selection of sneakers and they’re reasonably priced. The associate I spoke to knew a lot about running injuries so he was really helpful in making sure I get the right fit. I recommend this place for all pro and amateur runners.
