Saint Vincents Comprehensive Cancer Center

This place is wonderful. They are no longer open ²⁴⁄₇ as they were under St. vincent’s, but I guess that’s why St. Vincent’s didn’t make it.
They have EVERYTHING under one roof, all on the same floor. Radiology of all sorts, the «treatment room», psychiatric, oncology, acupuncture, all kinds of «alternative medicine» as well as the standard treatments.
I’ve seen a lot of cancer centers (unfortunately) and this one is the best I’ve seen.

This place has changed a lot since St. Vincent’s closed in 2010. When I first went there it was very patient-​centered. I was actually happy to go and get my chemotherapy, which I had for 6 months. The treatment room nurses were really great and my doctor and np were really caring and helpful, AND THEY LISTENED TO ME, which is very important. Radiation therapy was another thing altogether and that doctor was the antithesis of patient-​centered medicine.
But now it seems that everyone is defensive and angry and what the patient wants is not important any more. Looks like they are all toe-​ing the line to keep their jobs. It’s owned by Beth Israel Continuum Health Care now and it shows. I am truly unhappy to see this change in a place I used to like… :-(

I just finished radiation therapy for prostate cancer at the center. the staff is professional yet friendly. Many of the patients I got to know over the weeks were delightful. The doctors are top notch and the center is «state of the art». I actually miss my daily visit. Cancer sucks, and I don’t recommend it to anyone, but this place makes it much more bearable.
