Sake Bar Satsko

Went sake bombing here to celebrate for a friend! There are 4 tables and a bar area. The kitchen is a bit small as is the menu selection but I ordered the foil baked mushrooms which were very good. The main feature is the extensive sake list that groups different categories of sake and provides descriptions. The bartender Travis is really AWESOME! He did sake bombs with us and its 100% a good time.

I’m giving 4 stars because the Gyoza were legit (but soooo small and overpriced in my opinion) and the miso soup was really good.
The Tuna tataki was almost raw, 6 little pieces/​slices and not worth the price.
On another note the place is tiny and cozy, cool ambient ;)

Great food, amazing ambience and good service. Will deffo come back again.

this is the absolute best spot. vibe is low key hype consistently. queer friendly a huge plus. tonight, I had the pleasure of lovingly devouring the edamame, pulled pork buns, and samplings of two bottles of perfectly recommended sake (with the rest of my group) and, needless to say, everything was beyond delicious and reasonably priced for the depth of flavor and the quality of ingredients. I can’t stress enough that the staff was accommodating, warm, friendly, interesting, and hilarious. to add to everything else that is wonderful about this place, the music was beyond off the chain in a way that legitimately blew my mind. I loved every minute of my stay and honestly had a hard time bringing myself to leave. huge shout out to Austin for telling the most amazing stories and just being the absolute best thing about this amazing establishment! come for the food and drink, stay for the party. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend any day of the week.

I came here a couple of times when I was living in the area. It’s a nice little spot in a neighborhoody area. It feels welcoming– pictures of people who have come in the past adorn the wall.
The menu includes a lot of information on sake, which really helps your decision and for you to learn about more about sake. The bartender Erica was also really knowledgeable and friendly. I told her that I liked gin and she found me a floral sake.

Went to my friend’s birthday party tonight, and I had a fantastic time. The end of my evening consisted of a most perfectly served glass of water by Michael, the star bartender of this evening’s shenanigans. All to approach said establishment must request Michael’s signature SAKE BOMB’s. 5 out of 5, his beard is perfectly trimmed!!!

I came to satsuko a while ago for the first time, maybe beginning of 2015.
My 4 friends, girlfriend and I. We bought a nigori bottle and shared it, it was a pleasant location, the yuki nigori is very nice. The decorations are fun, tons of pictures on every wall.
I didnt come in for the food, gyoza isnt my type of food hahah.
I had an awesome time indeed the bar wasnt packed and the bartender was on point.
However, yesterday i came in with my friend and girlfriend to simply have a chill time once again.
God it was terrible. There were people asking for sake bombs and shots and so many drunks in such a small place. Women were bumping onto me while i was on my seat. My girlfriend ordered the masumi sake i believe, my friend got an infused sake cocktail, and i got a junmai that i dont remember the name because I suck at remembering names…
It was terrible, the sake didnt taste great, the infused sake was bland and the service wasn’t good. One thing tho… They serve a good glass of sake, like a good amount. So I would come back to have a big glass of sake again hahaa. But yeah, not good. One bartender working the whole store is enough for a bunch of drunks ok?
I had to get up my seat and hunt him to get a check and also to give him the money.
Come during the nights that aren’t full, i guess anything except the weekend, you’ll have better service.

Overall: location may seem faraway if you’re not living in the neighborhood, but I enjoyed the intimate experience. The place is small, well decorated, and due to the size, not that many people which created a nice atmosphere to talk with my friend and receive friendly service from the staff.
Things I liked:
— The candle holders – happy to see that there was a candle holder decorated with the Japanese manga character Kitaro
— Sake and food (chicken karaage and tuna tartar) with the mood, great playlist of songs, and comfortable seating
— Staff were friendly and patient even though we have been talking for a very long time – other bars would have shoved the bill to us to get us out even if there were no guests waiting outside.
Things I thought were meh:
— Pulled pork bun – it was okay. Tuna tartar was much better.

Came to this little hole in the wall for a night out with some friends. We asked the bartender if we could do sake bombs and he said «absolutely». We got seated and while looking at the menu the bartender came by with a round of sake bombs on the house to start us off. He even took a bomb with us. It was a great experience and a great start to the night. I am definitely going to come back again.

Great little discovery. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. No reason to compare it to the other Satsko. It’s just different. It’s cozy and quieter than Decibel. Next time going to try some of the food, too. Can’t wait to head back. Small but well curated selection of sake. My fav was the bottle of Masumi Arabashiri.

I went to this charming little spot last night. I enjoyed all of the hanging lamps and polaroids pasted on the walls. The bar tender was awesome, pretty knowledgeable about sake (which I was appreciative of since I know nothing at all) and was able to provide a very tasty recommendation. The food was better than I expected, the vegetable dumplings were very flavorful with a chilli pepper-​based dipping sauce, the edamame was edamame, but the most unique menu item we ordered was the squid. I wish I was hungrier to eat the entire thing but basically it was strips of squid (fried? baked? who even knows) that were crisped and crunchy served with a really tasty mayo sauce. Squid french fries, basically, in the best way.
Before I left we did a sake bomb and the bar tender joined! We made a bet that if I beat him he would pay for the drink but I failed so I guess he wasn’t bluffing :)
I’ll certainly return here.

There is so many good Sake bar in East Village and in New York in General that sometimes it is hard to tell which one is the best. They are all good good because they all have different vibes. This sake bar is pretty cool because it is on 7^th street away from the craziness of St Marks. Very small place with not much room (I think there was 4 table for 12 people + the bar) The food menu is small so you are not spending 5 hours trying to chose what you are going to order. It is like Japanese tapas. No huge portion which I love. Very nice sake menu and even their wine is not too bad. I spend a really good time there. The Asian tattoos waitress was lovely. It was a place that I bookmarked a while ago and was really happy that I tried it. Will recommend and come back again.

Good sake bar. Food is ok. Came here expecting better. The sushi rolls look like sushi burritos, you may like them if you are not into flavor and taste but more into portions and regular flavors. Is not high end Nobu and is not quite close to down to earth izakayas or Omoide Yococho, and that’s ok. But the food could still be better.
Perhaps tailored for younger flavor careless crowds or sake only. Still makes it a great spot for drinks in a small cozy dimmed ambience. The crowd is good.
Tuna Tartare — probably the worst I’ve had in NYC. Not to mean it was disgusting, it was just not good.
Sushi roll– not acceptable.
Edamame — didn’t even ever arrive.
Seemed like they lacked personnel, only one guy at the bar, who was also the waiter for the tables and the one dealing with the cashier.

Came here with a group of friends for sake bombing, and it was definitely a great time! It’s a super small space but the ambiance is cozy and relaxed so we were definitely got friendly with our neighboring table. But again, the ambiance and fun crowd allowed for it. Also, the server was awesome and so patient with us!
Would come back again if I’m in the area!

Super cute small spot, cosy and staff super friendly. Good service. Food is delicious, we ordered the Edamame, gyoza’s, octopus kale salad (sooooo good), pulled pork buns, Debgiri and Spicy tuna Onigiri. House sake and hot tea.
Will be my regular go to spot… With friends or on my own! Check it out.

Such a fun, truly «East Village» Japanese spot! From the rock ‘n roll décor, to the amazing bar tender Mike (yes he has a sweet beard and completely tatted), it’s definitely a hidden gem in the over-​populated NYC sushi/​Japanese restaurant market.
Coming back soon for sure, try the Goyza, Tuna lettuce wraps, and garlic shrimp for tasty bites.
Small venue, better for small groups/​dates.

Great place with equally great food and environment.

Dinner date with a client was here forth for Japanese Sake whom I drill one man’s foodie tastes and depth for intensity substance of Asian culture.
Unlike the original former Satsko at 245 Eldridge Street in LES, this location is primary a Sake Bar for the food portions are small resonating as tapas not entrees to substitute as a full meal. The owner is present who clicks away on the iPhone while her employees do all the serving, taking orders and cooking. The Gyoza, Shumai, Edamame, and Garlic shrimp were a delight. Absolutely NO sushi, NO sashimi, and the unorthodox brown rice is only available ergo, no traditional Asian WHITE rice. There are NO classic Japanese staples as Bento Box, Tonkatsu, no Tempura = ergo brings big disappoint.
Atmospheric conditions are small that resembles a 70’s lounge with no connection to Japanese culture for a true Japanese sake bar. It also contains a functioning nightclub colored disco ball, ergo utter unorthodox to the traditional subtle Japanese culture. Due to the size of this bar/​restaurant I do not recommend Sake Bar Satsko for large groups. The bar tender do not portray himself as a sake master as he does not seem knowledgeable amid there is a decent selection of imported sake. For non-​Asians, do not expect beer as they do not carry whereas my dinner event with a typical white man expose his ignorance to Asian culture. The bar area is small as the entrance door bang into my bar chair. There are no hooks for women to place their purses/​bags underneath the bar.
Sake Bar Satsko, a local sake bar Japanese tapas serving Alphabet City that brings great disappoint for lack thereof food options. Nothing like the original Satsko at 245 Eldridge Street in LES which was truly a full-​service restaurant (now defunct). Below MEH.
