Amy, the dental hygienist is super nice and does a great job. She’ll brief you on how you’re doing after your cleaning and give maintenance advice. Dr. Wong has done filling on my chipped teeth and wows with her artistry. Dr. Sachar has been very nice when she’s worked with me. It’s a very congenial collaborate caring environment!

Came to Dr Sachar’s office for my cleaning and exam last week. I was impressed by how afficient this place runs. As soon as I walked through the door, I was met by a smiling girl at the reception. Her name is Keisha and she is super friendly. She got me started with paperwork right away and five minutes later, after I filled out the forms, my hygienist Amy took me into her room for x-​rays. Amy was super friendly too. She kindly explained to me the order of precedures and I immediately felt at ease. The cleaning Amy did was awesome! She didn’t miss any single spot. The cleaning took 30 minutes and it was very thorough and absolutely painless. After the cleaning Dr Wong came in for a check up. She evaluated my x-​rays, checked my teeth and patiently answered all my questions. Fortnunately, I didn’t have any cavities, but I am sure if I did, Dr Wong would be a great dentist to take care of them. Overall, I was very satisfied with my visit and would strongly recommend this place!

Ok, first, you should know that Dr. Akhavan no longer practices here. GO FIND HER, NOW! Second, Pooja no longer works at the front desk here. Blessing or a curse? Toss up. Third, you should know that Dr. Sachar’s office may say that they accept your insurance when in fact they do not. I learned the hard way that they do NOT accept Delta Dental. They will make you pay out of pocket, struggle to submit a claim for you (see my story below), and then get you only a pathetic reimbursement since, in fact, they do not accept Delta Dental, despite Pooja’s insisting that they did. (Verdict: it’s a blessing that Pooja is no longer with them.)
Third, Soorindra, the guy who now manages the front desk, is incompetent and arrogant. He will not let you speak with Dr. Sachar to try to resolve extraordinary situations. I managed to speak briefly with Dr. Sachar only by chance (more on this below). I’ve learned through a highly unpleasant experience with Soorindra that the arrogance, which is veiled by platitudes and familiarity, is worse than the incompetence. It took him four months to submit a correct dental claim to my insurer, Delta Dental. I had to call him six times to follow up. Each time, he insisted he had submitted the claim. Each time, Delta Dental told me they hadn’t received a claim. I asked him to ensure he received confirmation for having filed the claim. He assured me he would.
Having been obliged to pay out of pocket for $ 1,000 in services, I needed to make sure the dental claim was filed correctly from their end. When I tried to verify my insurance information with him, he talked over me, apparently in an effort to prove to me that he had entered the correct information on the claim form. Well, if he had, then why hadn’t Delta Dental accepted the form?
In January (four months after my dental visit and still no claim), because I finally got the drift that I couldn’t trust Soorindra to follow through (my fault for having professional trust and respect for him?), I got him and a representative at Delta Dental on a conference call. The rep generously offered to stay on the line while Soorindra emailed him the claim that he had (supposedly) sent on my behalf. The rep said he would inspect the claim line by line to figure out why Delta Dental had not accepted it. After a few minutes of waiting, Soorindra said his computer had suddenly frozen, and so he was unable to pull up his record of the claim he had submitted for me. He asked us to wait on the line. We did, for twenty minutes, which you would assume would be long enough to reboot the computer. Soorindra insisted his computer was irrevocably frozen. He said he would email the claim to Delta on his own and follow up with me.
Well, he didn’t follow up with me. I had to call again. This time, I finally got to speak with Dr. Sachar, only because she happened to answer the phone. She quickly handed the phone over to Soorindra, who, at Dr. Sachar’s urging, emailed me a PDF of the claim form. The claim form was dated January 15, 2014. Did he ever submit a claim form prior to January 15^th? I’ll never know.
I got my reimbursement check from Delta Dental two weeks ago. For $ 374.

My dentists’ office is the best dentists’ office I’ve had for most of my life. I love the folks here, from the front desk to the hygienist to the different dentists I’ve had at different times, going back over about 5 years now. Can’t say enough good stuff about them, except to gush.

I’ve always been uneasy about going to the dentist, which was drilled home even deeper with my dental experience prior to going to Dr. Sachar’s office. From the very first time I visited Dr. Sachar’s for a cleaning and exam, my view of dentist’s visits changed and my anxiety disappeared. It starts with the front desk staff, who are super accommodating about scheduling.
Pooja is an absolute all-​star. She greets you with a smile and is incredibly friendly. She’s great at reminding you of upcoming appointments and working with you to reschedule when conflicts come up. I like this place so much that I was forgoing my insurance plan and paying out of pocket. When Pooja noticed this, she helped me find a way to change my insurance plan so I didn’t need to pay out of pocket anymore. Also, it’s not that she’s a one-​woman show… the other staff at the front desk have always been friendly and helpful as well, I just haven’t dealt with them as often.
All of the hygienists I’ve seen have been knowledgeable, friendly and encouraging about bettering my hygiene behavior. They talk about their own experiences getting into good hygiene habits between visits rather than acting holier than though when you admit you haven’t been flossing regularly. They are easy to relate to and make a real effort to make you feel comfortable.
The actual dentists also spend a good amount of time with you and make you feel like you matter to them. I have been there for regular cleanings, exams and x-​rays. I would recommend this place to anyone, anytime. Really a breath of fresh air in an industry that is not known for being good at customer/​patient care and service.

I refer all my friends here. Dr. Akhavan is my dentist, and she is totally awesome, super nice and she remembers things about me when I come in so we get to have a little chat. I love the people behind the front desk, they’re really nice and warm. There is never a clogged waiting room when I go, so they don’t overbook appointments. I always get seen right away, and the hygenists are always really great. I love it here, I wish I liked my PCP this much!

Came here on a Living Social Deal. The Dental Hygenist was awesome. I think her name was Anna. She took her time, was very thorough, but most off all was not overly forceful. It was a dental cleaning with barely any pain, a friendly smile and very modern looking equipment. I saw Dr. Akhavan for the exam. She was very nice and had a good bedside mannor. Not very talkative but answered every question I had. She gave me a clean bill of dental health (no cavities woohoo!) so I guess there wasn’t too much to talk about anyway. The only disappointment was that I didn’t get to see the award winning Dr. Sachar, but I guess I can’t take a star off for that.

I don’t have dental insurance — to my chagrin I cracked a tooth while in Chicago over New Year’s! I started researching dentists as soon as I returned to NYC and found the offices of Sandip Sachar. I read every review on every site I could find them on — Unilocal,citysearch, and at least 3 others. I finally decided they were a reputable office and solidified my decision after speaking with the receptionist over the phone. They got me in same day, treated me with the utmost urgency, kindness, and care. They worked with me on the pricing (I also purchased a Unilocal deal — $ 75 for $ 100 worth of treatment) and I not only got my tooth fixed, I also received a comprehensive set of X-​rays. I have two cavities and I will most certainly be going back to Dr. Sachar’s office to have them filled! Thanks to the receptionist for putting me at ease and to the staff (Dr Sachar did not work on me… not sure of the other dentist’s name but she was phenomenal!) for staying late to fill the giant, gaping hole in my tooth!

I look forward to seeing my dentist, I brag to friends and family about the staff. To date, I referred my sister and 4 friends, all of whom, have been equally pleased with this dentist.
Dr. Sachar performed my root canal, and I ended up falling asleep during the procedure. I was pretty tired, but she has always been very careful and gentle with my procedures.
