Sara & Kate’s Cakery Company

Stopped in here on Labor Day Weekend to pick up a treat for a picnic. The small cupcakes are adorable! As for taste, they win it in my book, best mini cupcakes I’ve had in Manhattan! Moist and flavorful without being overly sweet. They beat out Melissa, Crumbs and Magnolia!
AND the best part? A portion of their profits goes to autism research! Yummy sweets that you can feel good about eating??? I’m there!

I’ve been here a couple times since it’s near my school and I love baked goods! This store is extremely small (If I walk in with my bookbag on I take up the width of the entire aisle.) so don’t bring all your friends because it simply can’t fit so many people. Both times that I’ve been here I got their delicious cookies, and my favorite has to be their butter crunch cookies for 75 cents each. They’re not very big, but if I get a sweet tooth craving after school this is where I go for a snack! The service is also very friendly I feel welcomed whenever I go.
tl;dr: Yummy cookies, friendly service, will come again, but not 5-​star gourmet baked goods.

Adorable place. Slow service. Don’t buy cupcakes early on a Monday morning. They will surely be stale. They have such an opportunity to pack great flavor into a tiny package. No cupcake has a distinct flavor. They taste very fake, unnatural. Banana could be vanilla. Chocolate could be vanilla. Hazelnut could be vanilla.

Last night my friends and I tried the pumpkin cheesecake and the white chocolate mousse! So delicious. We also grabbed a few mini chocolate chip cookies on the way out that were equally delicious. I liked the simple, inviting display that showcased all the pastries without being overly flashy. I will definitely be back to try their other delicious pastries!

I’ve had their crème brûlée and pumpkin tiramisu. Both were very delicious. It is a small shop and the staff are very friendly. Everything in the store looks very yummy.

Tried the cookies, and didn’t like them. Also didn’t get real friendly service.

The mini cupcakes are delish, and the nice young man behind the counter carefully boxed them up for me.
It’s more like a bakery than a café inside, with nowhere to sit, but still cute and pleasant. I like that they support a great cause, which I’m sure negates all those calories.

I love their fruity/​citrusy desserts. I get the most random cravings for the lemon tart, which is my favorite, but the fruit tart and lemon-​orange cheesecake are really good too. I haven’t hand many of their non-​fruity things, but the ones that I’ve had aren’t as amazing.
For seating, there’s a bench outside but nowhere to sit inside. Their prices are similar to Corner Café (the lemon tart is $ 3.95, and it’s smaller than my hand), but everything’s very pretty, and their profits go to help people with autism. I think they’re open at 7:30 am every day and close at 8 pm.

Now another brand new cupcake and bakery shop has opened up in my hood? Is this some sort of warped conspiracy to make me fat again after my months of dieting to lose over 20 pounds of blubber? I feel that I am now surrounded by these places where I live.
Ok, Ok, I have to admit my willpower faded and I gave in. I dropped in here over the weekend to try out a few things. All in the name of science mind you. Someone had to do it, so might as well have been me. Also, I felt it was for a good cause as Sara & Kate’s supports a worthy endeavor — Autism Spectrum Disorder. They hire those with ASD and also supports businesses that helps create jobs for those affected. I like to support local small businesses in my hood and this makes it even more worthwhile.
The place itself is small, but bright and cheery. So many wonderful looking cookies, cupcakes, bakery items, and personal sized cakes are on display in the glass cases and refrigerators. So many different flavors to choose from. Cupcakes go for $ 1.50 each, and though on the small size, packed some nice flavor. I went with a box to take home of Sinfully Red Velvet, Banana Split, Cookies & Cream, and Raspberry Coconut. I also tried out a few cookies which were .75 cents each but were offered to me at 2 for $ 1. Bourbon Butter Pecan and White Chocolate Macadamia. The nice girl working the counter even let me have a cookie on the house to try out — the Butter Crunch Cookie which was terrific. In fact, everything tasted delicious that I tried.

For such a little storefront they have a pretty nice selection of cakery items, different fillings and frostings available, along with hot tea and coffee. My mind says to hold back, by my taste-​buds and tummy wants to try all the flavors here!
Friendly service, tasty baked goods, and a worthy cause makes Sara & Kate’s a winner.
