Decent food and good menu. I found the tofu curry somewhat intense, but it is curry, after all. I expected needing a reservation after a Friday night show. Not so. I learned this is not The Palm. Wall caricatures do not make restaurants equals. Crabcakes have something more added, but are delicious.

After a broadway show a friend of mine and his wife hosted me and my wife to dinner. Lovely atmosphere with a newer concept of wall designs cartoon pics of famous guests who have been to the restaurant. Attentive staff with excellent service. Food was really tasty and nicely garnished. I certainly recommend to enjoy a meal at Sadin’s.

Very good restaurant, the meal I had was very good. The service was fantastic. Could not ask for a better dinner. Even though we were obviously tourists the servers and wait staff where right on the spot. I recommend coming here.

Five stars for this NYC — Theatre District staple. Broadway wouldn’t be the same without Vincent Sardi’s 1927 restaurant and bar. Thanks to the Shuberts’ inclusion in their new office building that was going up near the Shubert and Booth theatres, we get this perfect time machine of a place right in the middle of a world that has all but forgotten what was great about Times Square. Stepping though the glass doors, you go back in time — to a simpler, more elegant Broadway where stars and producers and fans all dined together surrounded by caricatures. The caricatures are still there(look for Kermit The Frog from«Muppets Take Manhattan»), even though Broadway has changed. We owe it to the history of Broadway to make sure that congregation and conversation continues at Sardi’s. Now that we’ve lost the Edison and Howard Johnson’s, there’s not many of these golden places left. The best place for a pre/post-theatre drink in the neighborhood is at the upstairs bar.

Legendary NY spot. We only ate dessert here but it was fabulous. The only downside was that once our server discovered we were only ordering dessert, she disappeared and was as friendly as a cod. The rest of the staff was great though.

Walk by. Acknowledge to yourself that it was once a staple in the New York theatre scene — and keep moving.

One word comes to mind, meh. I know this place is a landmark but the food is mediocre at best. Come for a drink and maybe an appetizer but I don’t recommend dinner. We ordered the the tomato bisque with small shrimps and croutons(on special). The shrimp tasted very fishy. The soup itself was just ok. I wouldn’t get it again. My husband got the scallops with risotto, he said it was good. I had the pork chop with broccolini and potato wedges. The pork was ok, the broccolini was gross and the potatoes were cold. Timing was obviously off for all components of the dish. I was planning on getting dessert but after tasting the rest of the food I decided not to. I’m happy we went to experience the restaurant but I will never go back again for food.

Having not visited Sardi’s for a few years I was appalled at the actual food served. No one, not even romantisized tourists should expect to eat the slop that I have recently been assaulted with. Mostly attended by wait staff that tried to accommodate but could never make up for the disgrace of the kitchen. Do not order the special appetizer plate. What arrived looked like last nights leftovers left out all night. Truly evolved into a place hoping to trade on its past glories. So sad

Sardi’s is a landmark but sadly it was a food disappointment. We ordered an appetizer containing a little bit of everything which was fine. For my main course I ordered the salmon and while it wasn’t terrible it had noticeably been left cooking just a bit too long. On a good note, the service was great. The caricatures decorating the walls were fun to look at. I appreciate the history and the service which is the reason for the third star. I am OK with having had dinner here once but I will not go out of my way to eat at Sardi’s on a return trip to Manhattan.

After seeing Misery at the Broadhurst Theatre, my cousins, friends and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at this timeless restaurant. I had made reservations in advance so that they could accommodate for my mother who was in a wheelchair. Due to illness, she was not able to attend our dinner. However, that was not a problem with the staff. We actually invited a tourist from Norway who was there to see Misery as well to join us. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, as well as my drinks. My cousin did feel as if we were being rushed, but given the fact that the restaurant is trying to accommodate all theatergoers, I understand. I did not feel rushed. I enjoyed the view of the Broadhurst Theatre, as well, from my seat as I was enjoying my meal. I felt a good time was had by all. My only regret is that my mother could not join us. Our next trip to New York City will definitely include a trip to Sardi’s.

Sardis. A NYC landmark. And institution if you will. Has to be an institution, because you’d have to be crazy to go there. Ok fine. Do go. Get a drink. See the caricatures. THEN leave. No need to get a bite. The beef tartare was slimy. The pork was dry from being under a heat lamp(I ordered med rare). The steak was cooked perfect… it was just tasteless. It takes effort to get a truly bad steak in NYC. Oh Sardis, when did you stop caring? Sigh.

My momma always said, «If you don’t have anything nice to say, keep quiet.» Sorry, can’t do it this time! A quick Google search will lead you to a rich history of this old school glitz and glam NY institution adorned with celebrity caricatures. The birth place of the Tony Awards. Went for the Cannelloni au Gratin in the specialty menu. The dish seemed like a proud 10 year old kid’s gourmet presentation of Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger, except the kid didn’t read all the directions on the box. Edible, yet forgettable. My friend’s chopped salad was like a huge pile of bland greens that have been sitting all day under fluorescent light in a dreadful cafeteria line next to the cubed red jello with mini marshmallows. We mentioned it to the server and he just shrugged. So much for service. When a legend gets lazy… The only saving grace was dining under Michael Shannon’s caricature. I’m a huge fan. Such an underrated actor in an overrated restaurant.

This is definitely a tourist trap, but so is any place near Times Square, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. This restaurant has been around for many years, known for celebrities to drop by(hence the caricatures on the wall) and dark interior. The food wasn’t very memorable, as I can’t even remember what I had, but we did have a celebrity sighting. Right next to us was Al Pacino. We didn’t notice until he got up and headed out, but it sure was cool to see such an icon within mere feet of us. I wouldn’t go back, but it sure was fun to try once.

It’s really a tourist place more than anything else. The food is OK. Sardi’s is a pre-show restaurant near Broadway. The service is surly and pretentious. Prices reflective of the location. Eating here is a bucket list item, and nothing more. Sometimes I take people who are visiting NYC for the first time here. The last time I did, one of my guests became ill from her fish and was sick for the remainder of her visit. That last time WAS probably my last time…

Awful food, awful service, awful atmosphere but then again, what else would you expect from a Times Square tourist trap? Ended up here today with a client because he was craving Carmine’s(meh) but it was slammed. He suggested Sardi’s instead and I was open to it since it’s a «New York Institution» I haven’t been to even after five years of living here. First of all, the interior is very dated and not in a good way. It has a stained drop ceiling, stained threadbare carpets even the dishes and cutlery were dingy, old and dirty. The famous caricatures are kind of cool but more cheesy and creepy than anything in my opinion. Our waitress was completely unfriendly and unattentive to us and wasn’t even around for us to flag down. She forgot our drinks, never came back for our wine or dessert orders or to check on us.(Stupid because us ordering more would have meant a bigger tip for her!) We had to flag down another waiter just to get our check and I didn’t blame my client when he only tipped 10.5%. It was generous considering the fact that we got next to no service. We waited 30 minutes to get our appetizers and another 45 minutes for our main courses. Everything we had was cold, rubbery, over or undercooked and oversalted. My Mahi Mahi which the server said was terrific was overcooked and my client’s potatoes were still hard on the inside. Disgusting. I’m not finicky at all but this was an awful dining experience and I will not return and will not recommend.

Sardi’s is to Broadway what the Brown Derby is to Hollywood. When you enter you are surrounded by caricatures on both floors of the famed legends of Broadway and current stars. That alone is worth a visit. The place is elegant but casual for lunch. I came to order the business lunch which was listed on their website as Tue, Thurs, or Fri. Instead I was told that lunch special is only available on Mons and Fridays. So I decided to to settle for the seafood Cobb salad which consisted of shrimp, crabmeat, carrots, corn, avocado, and mixed greens. I was also given a choice of one of 3 breads to choose from. My salad was very good and the service attentive. Since my original intent was to take advantage of the business lunch I stopped with my salad only. Sardi’s is overpriced and is still the place where Broadway stars come after their evening performances. A couple of the famous caricatures I saw were Lucille Ball and Carol Channing. Sardi’s was the place to go years ago but it is now a tourist trap. It is best to go for lunch to save on prices and of course to see the caricatures. It is worth one visit just for that reason. They did have a book they showed me containing the names of all the caricatures but since they are everywhere it is almost impossible to find them. My true rating would be 3 ½ but I was pleased with my visit as well as both the service and the food.

As someone who typically avoids the theater district(I usually go right to the show and then go right back home), I didn’t know about Sardi’s until recently. A friend’s client was hosting an event here and invited me as her +1. After being directed to the 4th floor then back down to the 2nd floor, we finally found our way. This place is spacious with tons of seating and a good number of spots to get a drink. For special events, the beer selection is VERY limited but whatcha gonna do. I enjoyed the celebrity caricatures on the walls. The 2nd floor provided a nice view to 44th street down below. While it did get a little cramped until people started to depart for their shows, it wasn’t terrible and wasn’t overly stuffy. The staff is also very nice and helpful.

This place is in an excellent location in the theater district. We had just watched Aladdin went for a walk in Times Square and stumbled upon it. Its interior is full of character with an «American» charm. Celebrity caricatures out line the downstairs and upstairs of the restaurant. The staff is pleasant but for the most part very inattentive. I asked for bread twice it never came, I asked for my dressing twice to two different waiters as they didn’t bring it out with my salad. The salad looked a bit unappealing and well it tasted just as expected. For my entrée I ordered the cream raviolis and they weren’t very good either. For as expensive as this place was it fell short by a long shot and I got a stomach ache later that evening. I would definitely never go back.

Sardi’s is a ton of fun to visit, especially if you’re a big Broadway fan! The walls are covered in autographed caricatures of hundreds of movie and Broadway stars. My mom and I had so much looking at the different portraits. It’s a great place to go before or after a show. The restaurant is always playing soundtracks to popular Broadway shows. I absolutely love the elegant atmosphere. I highly recommend their cheese platter, appetizer platter, crab cakes, and Spinach & Ricotta crepes. They are all delicious. They also have a PHENOMENAL dessert menu. My favorite is the Lemon Raspberry Vanilla Frozen Cake. It’s one of my favorite desserts in the world. We did have one bad experience, where our server was basically non-existent and unapologetic, however all of our other servers have been extremely polite. We’ve been there enough times to conclude that the instance was isolated and not a typical dining experience at Sardi’s. If you’re visiting New York, it’s definitely worth stopping by for a meal and a drink.

A New York institution, and deserving of the distinction«theater district favorite.» While it might not boast the wallet-friendly menu of the dearly departed Café Edison, it’s to be similarly treasured for the hub it provides for the Broadway community, industry and audience alike. Stepping into Sardis is like stepping back in time, and the decades of theater history literally surround you with the famed portraits that line the walls. It’s the perfect spot to make theater-going an «event» again, with a pre-show meal or post-show drink. And the service is always impeccable. The Sardis experience is a «must» for anyone with an NYC to-do list!
