Sephora

If you’ve been to one Sephora, you’ve been to them all. This particular Sephora is just as nice as any of the others that one might typically encounter. What sets this apart from the rest is the superior customer service that is offered here. During my visit, each staff member that I encountered was very helpful and friendly when inquiring about products, tools and their personal utilization of the popular product that I was interested in purchasing. One young lady that assisted me, was very helpful in showing me which brush would assist in applying the makeup. Also when I checked out, I told the cashier that I had not yet received my free birthday gift from Sephora. I also informed her that I was late in asking to retrieve the gift, she said, «no problem,» and gave me the choice in selecting my birthday item. Very kind!
Nothing but great things to say about this Sephora. Very helpful staff and well stocked store.

This review is for the custom makeover I received at Sephora last week. My beautician, Anayse (can’t remember the exact spelling of her name — yikes!, but it is pronounced like the spice Anise), was awesome! She was super professional and also understanding. She made sure that I was happy with her work and made great recommendations about how to up the volume on the look I was going for, without it being trashy. Anayse made sure to understand what the event was, what I would be wearing, and what look I was going for. Being a person who rarely wears make-​up, it’s nerve wracking to put yourself in the hands of a stranger. Anayse put me at ease in a few minutes and was very easygoing throughout the process. Would highly recommend going to this Sephora to book an appointment for a makeover with Anayse. Oh, and one last thing, they don’t accept tips (still not sure how I feel about that — the service I got was excellent and deserved a substantial tip, but it’s nice that there is genuinely no pressure to tip).

Nick is the best and the only reason they’re getting any stars from me. The security guard just made my experience extremely uncomfortable and a worker was just staring at me and smiled to the security guard. I am a VIB member I don’t understand why they were acting like I was going to steal or something. Also good luck finding someone for help because there’s no one available ever.

This store is a disgrace to the Sephora brand! Store itself is dirty; at least 20% of the testers are missing (today I looked for Lippman nail polish and Sephora eye shadows); I won’t shop here again.

I love Sephora and I always shop there but this location is just terrible. The only thing that I like about this location is the nail bar where you can do your own manicure for free. However some of the staff are not helpful and quite rude. I once went in for a small sample of the smashbox photo finish correcting primer. I didn’t want to purchase the full size because I usually buy the regular primer but I wanted to see if it would actually cancel out my redness. I tried to get help and no one was available and when I got an opportunity to go up to one of the girls who worked there she was very standoffish.
She gave me an attitude when I asked for a sample and told me to wait because there was someone before me. While I was waiting the women she was helping kept talking and trying to have a conversation with her about the makeup and she looked so uninterested and bored. I felt bad for that lady and when it was my turn to get my sample she was so rude and gave me the smallest sample ever. And told me to put the product back which I did not mind but her tone was not very nice. I mean cmon I spend a lot of money at Sephora and I can’t even get a descent free sample. I know working in a store must be hard but at least put a smile on your face and be nice to people if they don’t like interacting with people maybe they shouldn’t work there.
The two Sephora locations I like to go to is in 86^st and 150 Broadway they are always welcoming and helpful every time I go.

Usually these stores, people are not helpful or are snooty it pushy. Every person I worked with was so nice and helpful. The best of all sephoras I’ve been to.

They only have a few fragrances un the men section. Just Burberry, Ford, Dior… The usual. No Kenzo, Miyake… Not very good customer service neither. No coming back there!

This is the worst Sephora ever. I’ll be direct and to the point. First, when I asked for my shade in a YSL foundation I love, I was told «YSL doesn’t make foundation for black people» and «You have to buy it online». I brought the foundation from a Sephora retail location, so that was a lie.
Then, I went to make a purchase using my VIB card. I asked about the 20 percent discount that was going on this weekend. They told me that if I didn’t have the email I couldn’t get the discount. I then watched the same cashier give two other customers the discount you didn’t have the email.
In general the employees are rude, unhelpful and unknowledgeable. After seeing the other reviews clearly this is just a bad location.

Most unprofessional and ridiculous staff ever. Let’s see:
1. It is a MASSIVE EFFORT to get anyone’s attention. All the staff members look like they’re on a combination of caffeine and ADHD medication.
2. The lady who helped me kept having a «private» conversation with her colleague, by private, I mean, yelling across me to apologize for something she may or may not have said. Um.awkward.
3. She mis-​quoted the price of a product after I specifically asked her how much it was. She turned the product, looked at the price and said «Thats x dollars». Only after I waited in line and proceeded to check out did I discover it was higher.
4. The checkout lady told me the incorrect number of beauty insider points. I asked her to double check and she said Oh yeah thats what it is.
Amateur hour. I miss the Sephora in California where the staff knows what the F they’re doing.

This is a pretty typical Sephora except that the customer service is great! The staff was very welcoming and didn’t make you feel like a pest if you asked them a question.
The woman at the register doesn’t stare you down like you are committing a crime when returning an item (with a receipt). She was lovely and super friendly.
If I lived on the UWS this would be my Sephora of choice.

Tried to give this Sephora another chance as its close to apartment but it never fails to disappoint me!!! Their service is terrible and the staff is extremely unhelpful! I asked for a sample and the guy told me «You have to bring the product to me as I can not leave his section». Hesitantly, I bought the sample to him. Then, I asked for a print out (which is mandatory for making samples).
He said «I can’t make the print out as I can’t leave my section but I can tell you the instructions» What…
He asked two people to make the print outs which was a long wait. Worst service with stagnant, unknowledgeable, and lethargic staff!

I’m a Beauty Insider and today I was trying to shop at Columbus Avenue store (around 6 PM). I spend there more than 20 minutes and left almost crying after the way I was treated there. I came with two extremely heavy bags from wholefoods full of bottled juices. As I didn’t see my favorite mascara, I put the bags down and started looking around for an assistance. I was completely ignored by everybody but I couldn’t go too much further to look for a person because of my bags. Several minutes later one of the staff members came to the make up station near which I was standing. I politely asked if she could be kind to get me someone. She immediately had an attitude. She asked me what did I need. I said I can’t find a mascara. She answered rudely «cause I’m right here». I answered «sure! If you are not busy» as I saw she was holding a lipstick that she brought for a client getting a make up session. After that she left as I thought to find someone for me and I saw her getting busy with some person in front of the store. I waited maybe 10 more minutes, looked around. On the other side of the station there was another lady, the one who was doing a make up application for a client. When I decided to approach her she dropped a pencil and when she was getting up she slightly hit her head with a computer. I said «oh my god! Are you ok?» and touched her shoulder but she kept being in rush and all abnormally stressed. I still said «I’m sorry, I don’t want to be mean, but could you please get someone for me to help as I’m waiting 15 minutes already?» She practically barked at me «We are all busy so you gonna have to wait!». That was time when I had to leave but I decided to stay there out of the curiousity and see what happens. In 5 minutes after that a third staff member approached me. She asked me if I wanted to talk to her. And I made a sarcastic remark «about rude staff? No, I’m just looking for my mascara». I nicely showed her which one I’d like to have. Not to mention she ignored what I said, she showed me with her hand like to a dog to move my bags. My eyeballs almost dropped out but I did it. Obviously it was not enough for her to open the lower drawer and she pushed my bags with the shelve not even saying anything. When she didn’t find what I was looking for she offered me another mascara but I said I tried it but prefer my particular mascara and thanked her. I left with a feeling that I was abused. Even though she yelled «sorry» at me it wasn’t sincere and with a grimace on her face. I cannot come back to that store ever again. Doesn’t matter that I live a couple of blocks away

Very unhelpful and rude employees. As in, even asking them if you can reach a product in order to purchase it is asking them far too much, let alone ask for actual help or advice regarding a product. They are there to give attitude, block movement, and restock shelves. Nothing more.

Many things I love about this location. They always have what I want in stock, its never that crowded, the interactions between customers and sales associates are always friendly. They are chill, don’t come on too strong and they are knowledgeable about the products they sell. I am a VIB rogue member (highest you can even freaking get). and my skin is very sensitive so oftentimes I like to test products before purchasing them. When I go to other locations in the city, they look at me like I am not serious and I am trying to con them out of samples. My member status says otherwise. Just took away a star because its a bit on the small side.

This Sephora is LACKING a couple things: qualified service and product variety.
It’s no secret this is one of the smaller store locations and so it lacks the product depth of the Soho store, for example. However, what really grinds my gears is unqualified sales people who make false statements simply to avoid doing the required research to answer customer questions. I asked if any brands had oil free non irritating blushes, and the sales person couldn’t make any helpful recommendations. I think the staff here could benefit for additional training.
I give three stars because it’s Sephora. You can’t rate the brand less than a three.

Something told me to go the the one in Columbus Circle. They’re just much more attentive and friendly there. I was here 10 min. before someone approached me and they simply passed me off to someone else! I got what I needed, but the experience could have been better.

To me, this store seems messy & unkept. They don’t make sure that their trial supplies are there & they’ve run out of cotton balls, q-​tips, etc to try on the sample make-​up. Also, the stations where they are kept look kinda gross & are just plain messy with the trash bins over flowing. I was also surprised how they don’t have hand sanitizer handy. Don’t most Sephoras have it? I really don’t remember.
I was never greeted upon arrival, which is something I always get even at your busiest Sephora (Time Square location for example), & no one ever came up to me to ask if I needed help, which is another thing that always happens at any Sephora. I honestly think this place is understaffed.
However, the pièce de résistance on this visit were the kids running around the store & since the parents were too busy trying on make-​up & no employees around to tell them to stop, one of them nearly ran into me. Ugh!
The only saving grace was our cashier who was actually very sweet & the long line moved pretty quickly. But seriously, this Sephora needs some major TLC & stat!

This Sephora is convenient for me considering I live around the corner. However, every and I mean EVERY single time I come here NO one has ever asked if I needed help. Yet I have noticed that people who come in behind me have gotten the welcome greeting and asked if they needed help. I recently went to the store and two workers were talking and playing with make up. Not one of them asked me if I needed help… which by the way I did. I much rather travel and go to a different location to get better service.

I love Sephora and this is by far my favorite location. It’s much less crowded than Times Square, the staff are extremely helpful and make wonderful recommendations and are attentive, but not pushy. I’ve found many of my favorite beauty products via their recommendations and can’t say enough about what a positive experience it is shopping there.

Five stars entirely because of Hershey! She knows makeup and completely transformed my face. I felt beautiful after she worked on my eyes and was left feeling very ready to buy out the store when we were done. I can’t speak to the store’s inventory because I don’t know much about makeup but I had a great experience here and am glad to know it’s in my neighborhood for any beauty needs I may have in the future.
