Walked by this bar tonight and it is closed and gutted. Was a good football bar. So sad.

* Came here to watch the India vs Sri Lanka cricket World cup finale… Yes I had an awesome time! ’ Paisa Vasool !’ * People were waiting outside the bar early morning at 4.30am… Once the game started, everyone grabbed some Irish coffee, some quick breakfast and then some beer… For $ 20 cover, it was bang for a buck * As the game progressed, the level of excitement kept going higher. Fans were relentlessly cheering for India, Sachin and Dhoni. And finally when India won the world cup, it was like a dream come true. Fans congratulating each others, waving flags, doing vodka shots, clicking group photos, cheering and boozing. It was cricket frenzy. Total Madness! One can rightly state — «India is a cricket crazy country». April 2, 2011 will be a special memorable date in the history of indian cricket. * Last but not least, kudos to men in blue who made India proud! I wish the bar is around for the upcoming IPL4

Went here to watch the India vs Sri Lanka World Cup cricket finals and the atmosphere was amazing ! Too sad the place is shutting down… one of the best sports bars i have been to … they have about 50 TVs, so no matter where you sit … you are sure to get a good view

Definitely a Steelers bar, and if you are going to watch a game here, go early in order to get a seat. The Steelers game is played in the front half of the restaurant, which is the bar. They also have a middle section with a big screen TV and other games going and a back section with more games and sometimes beer pong. It is a pretty big spot. The food was ok, but I think that is because what I ordered from the menu was not the same way that the bar makes it and they had no clue. I ordered a Creole chicken sandwich that was supposed to be blackened, but it came to me just ordered. When I mentioned it to the bartender and manager, they had no clue that the menu said blackened and they had been making it wrong all along! WHAT! I have no idea how that could happen, but whatever! I should have gotten the wings, they looked and smelled great!

What I got: Beef chili nachos, Hoegaarden Beer The good: Steelers bar, big restaurant, a lot of choices on the menu, friendly bartenders The bad: Older crowd, poor quality TVs Ventured over to the snobby east side to find a new Steelers bar and came across Ship of Fools. Read on their website that they have pool and beer pong tables, but was told after we got there that the tables don’t come out until after the afternoon games on Sunday. The food was so-so. I love nachos, but the beef chili was sweet — like they added a cup of sugar to the mix. Fun environment, but an older crowd(50+) for the Steelers game on Sunday. Waitstaff was cool though. Probably won’t go back. Been to bars much better than this one.

I went to Ship of Fools this past week-end for my friend’s b-day. The first time I came here was for St. Patty’s day and needless to say, it was PACKED. I didn’t even know that they had 3 separate rooms until my recent trip. This is definitely the type of place for Sports fanatics. I counted THIRTEEN Plasma TVs in the back alone. The staff was very attentive and helpful. They have a nice menu for appetizers, bar food and drinks and desserts. I was pleasantly surprised that included frozen drinks on their menu. I ordered the Miami Vice(piña colada/strawberry daquiri mix) and it was DELISH! :D A nice time was had by all. The only thing I didn’t like was that finding the restrooms(downstairs) was like a Scavenger Hunt. They use the downstairs for storage also so there were a lot of kegs in the way.

For Upper East Side sports viewing, Ship of Fools is a great option, fool. They have tons of TVs, lots of space, and the wings are quite good. The staff is pretty friendly and you can almost always find your game on with a seat nearby. Also, the beer is cheap, especially if you get a group of friends together and opt for one of their beer bongs, which apparently can hold the equivalent of about seven beers and costs only $ 20 or so – $ 3 per beer is hard to beat. I will close this review with a story. However, this story will not factor into my actual review of Ship of Fools, because you can’t necessarily blame the venue for the toolbags that may frequent it. I went into the men’s room — one stall, one urinal. The stall was occupied. I stepped up to pee at the urinal. Somebody came in behind me and was waiting for the next available spot in which to drain his bladder. Being the nice guy that I am, I quickly moved from my spot at the urinal after finishing my business, even before completely buttoning my button-flys and re-latching my belt. I like belt buckles. So I move out of the way so that this guy can go next, and I head over to the sink to wash my hands. It’s at this point where things get weird. The guy who was next in line says, as he’s getting into position, «You can’t flush?» In shock, I reply with, «Really?» He says, «well, it would have been polite.» «Sorry, mom,» I say on the way out. Hopefully that fool’s ship will sink soon.

Softball season came to a close with a lot of sweat and heckling on a field in Central Park. Afterward, we trekked across the east side down to Ship of Fools where an open bar and food awaited. And, unbeknownst to us, beer pong.* It was a wild and woolly night thanks to all of the above and a proper ending to a wild and woolly season of softball. Highlights included: 1) Beer pong 2) Pretty decent bar food(hot wings, chicken fingers and quesadillas) 3) Open bar — well drinks and 3 beers on tap($ 30 for 3 hours) 4) AWESOMEWAITRESS(Kat was her name) and general service 5) My drunken co-workers Minus a star for the fact that the music I put on the jukebox ended up being cut off and replaced by generic pop/rap. People missed out on me singing Killer Queen! Maybe that’s why they didn’t play it… hmmm. Great place for a large group and if you like games associated with drinking! *The last time(and previously only time) I played beer pong was at another co-worker gathering. Where I kicked my «official beer pong champion» co-workers patootie.

Second place I hit yesterday afternoon on a small happy hour tour with my buddy. Good prices on beers, at $ 3 for a Miller lite bottles, and all other domestic at 2 for 1. We got a small bucket of 16 wings and they were standard good bar food. It was obviously not crowded at 4pm, but my friend said this place gets packed. They have a large room in the back, with a small pool table. Also some outdoor seating.(see my pic, and vote it up for the default pic!!) Bathrooms downstairs is like going through a maze to get some cheese. 3 right turns confuse me when I’m drinking. All in all a good spot.

Ship of fools has every single game, all the time, anytime. There are about 200TV’s in this place, all right next to each other, lining the perimeter of the bar/restaurant. They even have 2TV’s outside for people seated out front! I have only tried a few things here to eat, but the prices were decent and so was the food. I did have the oddest Broccoli Cheddar soup EVER, because it was really thin, like it was too much liquid and not creamy enough, but it actually worked and tasted good. I think they should serve bread with the soup, but oh well. We also had nachos that were good and decently priced. They had $ 12 pitchers of domestic drafts which is nice(although their website says they are $ 10-they need to update that). If you are looking for a sports bar on the UES Ship of Fools should not be missed.

This place is really really big. For some reason the place looks mostly like a restaurant with seating for at least a 100 – 200 people with their 2 back rooms though my impression of this place was that it’s primarily a bar. They’ve got awesome drink specials throughout the week(nothing on the weekends however) and a bunch of games here: darts, pool, a huge arcade golf game, and buck hunter. They’ve got 2 for 1 drinks a couple days a week and beer pong with $ 8 pitchers on Fridays. The bartender was really nice when I went and overall I was pretty pleased with this place.

I watched a lot of baseball here last season(go Yankees!!) and this is one of the best sports bars in the city. The vibe rocked and the food was far beyond what you would expect from bar food(wraps and salads were especially good). We were able to reserve seating for the world series and partied there the rest of the night after the big win. PLUS, for you smokers, they have a TV facing out of their front window so you can watch what is going on while you are being shunned and looked at disapprovingly. It’s the best!

Went for the Notre Dame/USC game on Saturday afternoon. Called ahead on Thursday night for a reservation, and the hostess who took it was super nice and accomodating. She asked for my name, how many people we’d have, and what game we were going to watch, and that was that. When we showed up on Saturday the table had a card with my name on it, reserved in one of the back rooms filled with others that were there to watch the same game. Sat down next to some other Irish fans and got to drinking! Food was decent. I really liked the tater tots and buffalo chicken bites, the nachos weren’t very good, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was that there were no beer specials, but with $ 12 Miller lite pitchers that’s special enough for me! Also, the game sound was kind of low, but it was pretty loud in there so I don’t think they could have put it up much higher. Will definitely come again, hopefully next time for an Irish win!

This is a great place to watch sports, especially college and pro football on the weekends. They take reservations for tables so you can make sure to be seated somewhere that you can see the game you are interested in. The bar and wait staff are all really friendly and attentive. The food is pretty good, especially the wings and my go to — the buffalo chicken wrap — and the sweet potato fries are great as well, not many places have them. The kitchen is also open til 4 am, which is a rarity at any bar. A solid choice anytime.

This is heads above the worst bun I have ever tasted, EVER. Have no idea what the burger tasted like biting through this week-old dried out bun. The wings were good which is giving its only star… no excuse for that burger though. Great plasma’s for sports fans, pool table in the far back.

:Sigh: Why do I come here? Because they play the Boston College football games on many screens. And because during those games, there is enough space for me to sit and enjoy the only thing I will eat off that menu; the turkey burger. If you ever find yourself at Ship of Fools take advantage of the Miller Lite buckets($ 5 for $ 15 I think.) Its advertised as a happy hour special but its not, they always have it. If you ever find yourself there during happy hour, DONOT order any of the $ 5 «special» appetizers. There is a reason why they are only $ 5. They are not special in any way. Don’t do it.

I was coerced into coming here bc my friends were watching the Steelers game. Such a weird Pittsburgh crowd. Definitely not NYC. That’s why i didn’t mesh well with this place. It was so crowded and yellow and i felt like such an outsider. If you’re a Steelers fan, you are home here.

OMG! You’ve got to be kidding me??? This places sucks in nearly every way. Frat boys? Check Nasty Bathrooms? Check Inedible Food? Check Non-existent or Flat-out-don’t-give-a-crap service? Checkity Check. Good thing I don’t live on the UES side anymore — but if I did I sure as heck would not waster any time or money here.

Think Beer, TV, and not upscale — anything else and you’ll rate it less than 4 stars too. Beware the food is hit or miss but the wings weren’t bad when I was there. Date Rating: 4 Pick up Scale: 3(7 if you’re a chick who likes sports) Strong Suggestions: Enjoy the specials.
