I am crushed to find out that this placed has closed. I got my very first Brazilian wax with Lydia, who was so great. What happened? This is terrible. This was a great place. Sorry to see its gone.

This was my first Brazilian wax and I’m glad I went here! I was about 20 mins late, but she took me anyway which I thought was so nice. She coached me through the more dramatic pulls which was greatly appreciated. She is definitely a professional and minimized the pain by being quick and knowing when to stop and continue. Definitely going back!

I was scared to try a new place after moving to the Nolita/​Soho area– however, this place eased my fears– its clean, staff was friendly and in no rush (which I appreciated), and my eyebrows have never looked better! I have very sensitive skin, but this was the least painful wax experience of my life.

I love Kasia and the reception service people. I’ve been getting waxed for over 20 years, had services all over the world, and Kasia is top notch. Her biz hours suit my availability, she’s local for me, keeps her clients’ appointments so be punctual as it’s better for all of us that way. The room is clean, she doesn’t double dip sticks for waxing and listens to what you want. I’m gearing up for laser from her as it’s time for touch up, I can’t comment on that service yet from SSF. Brazilian price is pretty standard and I like to find someone I can trust and be loyal to as this is a sensitive area in many ways.

Great place. Annabelle has transformed my eyebrows from misshapen catepillars to beautifully arched works of art. Glad I found this place. Thanks Unilocal!!!

The staff is very kind and the overall vibe of the place is warm and welcoming. They use hard wax which is great.
However, I found 70+ dollars for a Brazilian overpriced in this case. I was expecting something exceptional based on the reviews, but, well, meh. I’m quite experienced with other salons by now so I’d like to think I kinda know what I’m talking about. The treatment itself was relatively painless and quick, but the results were certainly not as jaw-​dropping smooth as I’ve had them with other salons. Grew back quickly also, which makes me suspect hair break instead of removal. Technique is everything.
Also, I’m used to getting far better results for 40 dollars in Europe. Hope to find a salon here soon that measures up! Quite a bummer cause like I said, loved the staff.

I have been seeing the same wax girl elsewhere and during this time she was out of town so I had to find a back up. My boyfriend sent me over some places and this one stood out the most based on the reviews and what they had to say about Lydia. So I said why not, people kept saying it’s clean and she is patient and she is just great! Boy it was exactly how everyone else said. Thanks Lydia! I appreciate you and you are def seeing me again

OK first let me say I love Kasia. She is great. I have been doing laser hair removal for years and after being referred by my friend to her after she told me her hair was falling out faster than her chemo therapy did I was sold. For someone to make that comparison it pretty much speaks volumes!
After over a year of going to Kasia my results were not good. No burns or anything but my hair wouldn’t go away. If anything it grew back more. Now I am a Laser Hair Removal Queen so I wasn’t doing anything wrong and I am very educated on how LHR works and it just wasn’t producing the same results my other place was. Once I switched back to my old place (If it aint broke dont fix it!) I saw results far better than I did here. I talked to my laser lady and she asked me what kind of machine they used. Sure enough it wasn’t the Cynosure I was used to but probably an IPL machine.
I see great reviews here for waxing and I know Kasia is in popular demand because booking was so hard at times, so I think it’s safe to say waxing is her forte.
Also, those dogs she brings in sometimes. OMG. They are the size of Pony’s! I swear! One jumped on me a few times. I think this is totally unprofessional as people are allergic to dogs and some are scared of them. Imagine being scared of dogs and having her Pony’s jump on you when you walk in? I’m just having a panic attack thinking about it. But I must say the dogs never did any harm and they just like to «play». But to someone who is scared of dogs, «play» is not a word that will make them feel better.
Overall: Clean place, Kasia is great and comes highly reviewed but skip the laser sessions unless you have very little trouble hair.

Still love this place. Saw Lydia today, Kasia is out for a few months. Lydia is super sweet and gentle. I still felt very comfortable and would totally go back to see her. She focused on the details and made sure that I was comfortable while also keeping the waxing quick and easy.

I love this place. Kasia and her staff are so friendly and she puts you at ease immediately which is really helpful when getting a Brazilian. She always remembers details about me, which is hard to do when you see so many people a day. Always schedule ahead as she does fill up. It is very difficult to get an apt if you forget, but they are always accommodating.

Kasia knows what she’s doing. That’s clear. The problem is she cannot be duplicated, so trying to get appointment here is next to impossible. Call well in advance. If you manage to get in, you’ll be glad you did even for the price tag. Her hard wax is gentle on skin and as the name suggests, stays smooth longer than most.

Kasia is the BEST! I absolutely love her. I’ve been getting waxed for years but haven’t had one in about three months. So I knew it would be like the first time and I was a bit nervous. Having been to many of the top salons and having experienced many great estheticians; I can say she is one of the best. She has such a warm, welcoming and comforting personality. She’s great for first timers and is patient.

LOVE, love, love Kasia! I have been to every top waxing spot in the city and Smooth Skin Factory is my favorite. Kasia REALLY knows what she’s doing. She is highly trained in addition to being a lovely human being. I can’t say enough good things about Smooth Skin Factory. It’s a great process through and through. Easy to make appointments (you can even book online!), PERFECT wax, and a really reasonable price! THE BEST!

Tried making an appointment for a full leg wax here but was told they just «don’t do it». Wtf? It’s a leg. Not like asking for something weird, you know?

Absolutely love this place. I wouldn’t go anywhere else as long as her shop is open. Clean, beautiful and fun environment. Now she has dogs too! I love how thorough she is. Highly recommend and I hate brazilians!

Kasia is amazing. She really knows her stuff. She sometimes would offer free touch ups. The place is also very sanitary and cozy.
I’m usually a big wimp and don’t do well with pain, but her technique keeps the pain minimal. (:
What may deter some people from visiting may be that she has boxers in the shop. Her dogs are very well behaved, so you would never have to worry about the place being unsanitary. The dogs never go anywhere near the equipment.

My first waxing experience was in July 2013, I did it to prove a point that waxing was not better then shaving and although I lost, I love the feeling of my skin afterwards and how long it lasts. Had to make it a part of my regular body maintenance.
My friend suggested going to a place that uses hard wax, Uni K Wax, after investigating I found plenty reviews on «double dipping.» Naturally, I was not going there.
After googling, Smooth Skin and Kasia, I was honestly making it my mission to find something negative, but literally Nothing worthy of not trying this with her.
I did my due diligence… researched and prepped for my appt by exfoliating moisturizing, etc (3 weeks before).
The day of, I took 2 pain killers and at the place, was welcomed by the dogs and the asst was awesome with small talk. I felt a little relaxed. Kasia came out and was so friendly. She explained her process, since she knew I was terrified. She warned me when needed (to take deep breaths) and talked about a variety of things… bottom line it hurt, I teared, but once I got dressed I was fine. Any pain you feel is extremely manageable and short lived.
Appts: she so good you have to schedule 1 month in advance.
Second visit in August… No tears!!!
I’m converted to Kasia only and will never shave again!

Whoever said Brazilian wax didn’t hurt, they’re lying. It’ll hurt no matter what but it’s just how much does it hurt, that plays a role when it comes to waxing.
I came to Smooth Skin because of all the good reviews. I’ve never had a Brazilian before and sure enough, I was nervous. The small quaint place was very clean and I was called in right after the previous customer had came out (giving it a 5 – 10 minute to clean the room up). Kasia tries to relax you by making small talk, but she never once stop her hands. She would tweeze out stubborn hairs which the wax can’t get to. She’s extremely patient also. The next thing I knew, I was done. It was quick and definitely had a bit of pain but it was manageable.
The one thing which I was amazed about was how normal I walked after the Brazilian. I’ve had friends that had Brazilian before and they couldn’t walk correctly. Even though Smooth Skin might be on the more expensive side, at least I know the place is clean and that Kasia knows what she’s doing.

The best bikini wax I’ve ever gotten — and quick! She is very professional.
One note, there are 2 big dogs that are in the shop, which is kind of off-​putting when you want a place that’s sterile and hygienic.

Went there today. First time getting a brazilian, and it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be. Obviously it hurt a little bit, but Kasia prepared me for it. She knew how to keep a conversation going (especially since it seemed like I needed a little bit of a distraction from the fact that I was getting hair ripped off my body). It does cost around $ 70 for first-​timers now, but I still think it was worth it especially since it was relatively painless.

I don’t think I’ve had a better Brazilian wax in my life. True story. Well, a beautician I used to frequent in Singapore comes close, but I’m not flying 22 hours just to get my coochie waxed, yes? Kasia, the owner of Smooth Skin Factory, is perhaps the most conscientious waxer I’ve ever had.
1. She uses hard wax throughout, and hard wax is less painful than soft wax.
2. She asks you about your pain threshold before she begins.
3. She applies a numbing spray to your parts before she,
4. Goes on to meticulously tweeze those annoying stray hairs.
5. She makes sure to wipe off all that gunk.
Also, it’s half off for first-​timers, so that’s $ 35. Would I come back here if I had to pay full price? Yeah, I think I might. It was comfortable, and as painless as a Brazilian could get, and I’m not wincing when I walk. All plus points. It also took about 20 minutes, which is not too long, not too short.
