Description

Specialties

Spain has a wealth of culinary tradition and part of that tradition is eating together around a communal table with family and friends. With this in mind, we wanted to share this experience with you centered around one of Spain’s most treasured dishes — paella.

«Socarrat» is that delectable, scrumptious crust that forms at the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice has reached its peak of succulence. In other words, «Socarrat» is the result of paella cooked to perfection. To us, we have come to think of «Socarrat» as a standard of perfection to aim for in everything we do.

We look forward to sharing the best flavors of Spain with you. SALUD!

History

Established in 2008.

In 2008, Socarrat Paella Bar was opened in Chelsea. Guests are seated at a long communal table and choose from a selection of various paellas, tapas, and a selection of wines from all of Spain. In 2010, we continued the tradition to a new neighborhood with the opening of Socarrat Nolita (284 Mulberry St.), and in 2012 we were thrilled to expand to Socarrat East (953 Second Ave).

Lolo M.

Business Owner

«I am passionate about food; it is one of the most gratifying pleasures in life. To me, eating is like a ritual; an expression of one’s soul.»

Lolo Manso is a native of Valladolid in the heart of Spain. From an early age, Lolo was surrounded by Spanish food and flavors and has always valued bringing people together to share the experience. After coming to New York in 1984, he quickly learned that enjoying his favorite dishes from Spain with new friends made home feel a little closer.

As the owner of all 3 Socarrat’s, La Churreria, as well as La Nacional at the Spanish Benevolent Society, Lolo feels it is a privilege and an honor to share Spanish cuisine and culture to a wonderful city likes New York.

«Enjoying food with friends and family is a celebration of life and Socarrat is a place to enjoy that celebration!»
