History

Established in 2014.

The storied Ibiza nightclub «Space» has landed in NYC as the first of what will be many North American outposts of the award winning nightlife brand.

Space Ibiza NY made its splash in the club scene in 2014 with a variety of soft openings for celebrity studded fetes during Fall Fashion week before officially opening its doors every Friday and Saturday night after New Year’s Eve 2015. The purpose built nightclub spans a massive, multi floor complex, features a $ 1million dollar «Funktion One» Sound System and will feature a 5000 square foot VIP room dubbed «Premier Etage» and a Rooftop Terrace overlooking the Hudson River and a panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline.

The world’s biggest EDM Artists now have a new home in NYC, courtesy of owners Antonio Piacquadio, Carlo Seneca, Mike Geniton and Rob Toma supported by a team of nightlife veterans including Ray Trosa, Stan Kuklya and William Landrum, there are over 150 years of nightlife experience amongst them all. #IbizaCalling!

Having played crucial roles at many of NYC’s most ambitious, successful, award winning Nightlife Venues, I have proudly worked behind the scenes to produce nightlife magic for well over a decade strong in the city that never sleeps.

Fun, Creativity and Hospitality have been at the forefront of my work ethic and I always stand by my work and reputation in this industry.

Space Ibiza NY presents a fantastic challenge at an amazing new venue. I see nothing but unlimited potential for the club and hope to constantly engage and communicate with our audience to make their experience here at the club better. I invite the good, the bad and the ugly and hope to address each and every person to the best of my capabilities. And I promise to translate your input into positive changes for the better, as I and Space Ibiza NY, plan to be here for a very long time! I’ve only been here once and to be honest I don’t think I would come back. Drinks are super expensive and not strong at all. It was so overcrowded that I could barely move let alone dance. I recommend buying a ticket online because the cover price is insane, pregaming before you go and dress nice.

The strobe lights are so bad that you feel like you are going to have a seizure on the dance floor. This was my second time at this club and I left feeling nauseous and blind from how bad the lighting is. It literally blinds you I had to dance with my eyes closed the entire time. The only good part of this club is the basement which they shut down. Won’t be going back.

Three stars may or may not be enough to justify the trek out to 12th Ave, but it’s solidly what Space Ibiza has earned.
In fairness, it’s the nature of the industry to try and nickel and dime your wallet to death, but $ 6 coat checks and $ 40 covers are admittedly excessive for such a crowded scene — and Manhattan is definitely crowded. Then again, Space Ibiza pulls some very solid acts; world class DJs are the norm, and I will never forget the Action/​Ty show.
Unfortunately, it’s just not a fitting space for such talent. It’s very small, and finicky bouncers ensured that the party stayed outside for far too long, leaving the inside rather boring. Watery, expensive drinks and robotic bartenders did nothing to alleviate the doldrums.
A table was hardly an advantage — their location is awkward and a tight fit. Unless you are easily charmed by bottle bunnies on the club’s payroll, you needn’t bother.
The verdict? Head on in if you’re really into the act of the night, Space Ibiza has some great ones. Otherwise, give it a pass.

So I finally decided to ‘try’ this club because Joseph Capriati was playing after-​hours.
Ticket stated 3:30 AM. I took a cab from Output, arrived at 4:30 AM and there is a line around the block with a bouncer going around yelling/​asking ‘Tables, tables, tables!!!’.
Barely moved by 5:00 AM. You don’t make people wait so long for AFTERPARTY at 3:30 AM on NYE.
They must be paying a load of money for DJ’s to play there. Ripped up my ticket and took a cab back to Output and had a blast.

With the fact that it is considered one of the high end clubs in NYC like Lavo and Marquee, I did at one point it is worth a look at least once. Now that I have seen the inside of the place three times, any sort of mystique has worn off. I think for one the club is really tiny and yes, there is a separate VIP upstairs, then sort of a side VIP area but I guess that is it, way too selective at the door. I was here for an open bar when it first opened, then back for an Anniversary that feature Action Bronson and new up and comer, Ty Dolla Sign. Both performers on separate stages gave it their best.
Security was not as much an issue as some people have eluded to because I arrived early but a female friend (wall street type) arrived late and missed the guest list but she loved Bronsolino so much she paid almost $ 300 a piece for herself and a friend for entrance and a bottle. Honestly, not really my problem but still tiny enough for a club after 11pm, got super crowded in there. You here the name SPACE and think of the one in Miami and you hear IBIZA and your gonna think that is the place in the world to go party but this place did not deliver on best party any time of the three. Marquee is not the best in the world but go there instead of here. I think three times is enough for this spot.

So I’m travelling from Chicago to NY for NYE and I decided to get the tickets for $ 140 for this event at this venue. *Headsmack* I should have checked the Unilocal reviews! I’m heavily regretting my decision now!

A very uncomfortable place to spend an evening out. The space is overstaffed with aggressive and intrusive security guards. The club does not have good flow for foot traffic when it gets crowded.
Everything is overpriced and every staff member expects a large tip whether they are bartenders or bathroom attendants. A security guard even asked a friend of mine for money.
I spent a lot of time in the NYC clubs in the 1990’s. I remember feeling safe, secure, and relaxed in the nightclub environment. Security guards were friendly and made me feel welcome.
The times have certainly changed. This place made me feel as though my every move was being watched by someone in a slick black suit. It gives the place a very snooty mafia sort of vibe. Very unpleasant.
It’s a shame. The space has potential and the sound system is very nice, but I would not want to return.

Ugh, Space Ibiza is all the way on 12th Ave which sucks but at least there are several other clubs within walking distance.
Came on a Friday night for Odesza. There were 2 openers and Odesza came on around 1AM, which was when the venue was most packed. 11PM-​1AM was great though. It was kind of annoying how packed it got because people kept bumping into me. I feel like other venues can get packed but people still give you some space. It’s best to come a little earlier unless you want to be all the way in the back or on the steps which is almost in another room. There were also way too many couples making out right in front of my face. Dance floor is a bit small for shows and a small bottle of Fiji water is $ 6. Lights and special effects were minimalistic. The crowd might change with what’s going on at the venue but when I went, there were a lot of young looking and strange looking people. On a side note, heard there are a lot of gay parties here over the summer!

See I am not a big dance club person but that doesn’t mean I can’t go out and have fun once in a while. I did not have fun at this place specifically. I already had a ticket, purchased it before, and like another reviewer, I also had to stand on a 40 minute line with people who didn’t HAVE a ticket.
If you plan to come here at all, don’t forget to pre-​game (as another reviewer stated). A small plastic cup of Jagermeister here cost me $ 13. The bouncers/​security guards here are also quite rude. I didn’t get told, but I saw them being rude to other people. It was also overly crowded inside. I kept getting pushed and stepped on by girls in club dresses. who can’t seem to handle their alcohol. And annoying douchy guys were everywhere.
I would not come back here again… My other friends told me it sucked but I didn’t listen and went anyway. I spent $ 43 (ticket and drink) to learn this.

Spoke too soon.
Staff has seemingly changed for worse – almost as if they borrowed a few security guards and bouncers from Pacha and Webster Hall, but even security/​bouncers can be nicer at those places at times.
Seems like Space Ibiza has had a huge turnover as they’re gradually pulling in some big-​name DJs – no more free guest lists, poor management, and terrible staff. It’s really something when a bartender would rather be filming some tacky Top 40 remix than give you a minute of their day to make a watered down drink. Oh, and it’s a $ 50 card minimum at the bar.
I had a security guard yelling and cursing at me in his thick, rusty Russian accent, for cutting the line (I know, I know) to join my friends who were waiting for me. They also lied about their at-​door pricing, which I was told was $ 30, and ended up having to pay $ 40 at the box office – either it was sneaky or a miscommunication between the staff. Other than that, I have to say that the facilities aren’t terrible; at least you have more freedom and leeway in moving around and sitting anywhere you want – hell, I sit on top of the table by the stairs and not once has security ever told me to get off. I guess you do whatever you want here.

$ 50 credit card minimum at the bar, and their ATMs charge you a $ 6 withdrawal fee. So glad that we pre-​gamed ahead of time, because two rum and cokes ran us $ 32+. This place really thinks too highly of itself. My friend wasn’t allowed in because he was wearing a tanktop that didn’t abide by their sexist «dress code.» Thankfully, he had an extra collared shirt in my car. Plenty of girls were let in wearing denim shorts, tanktops, and sandals — so take note of the double standard.
The sound system is actually pretty good, and handled all the heavy bass from Headhunterz’ set with ease. Dance floor is quite spacious, too, if it weren’t for the fact that the promoter oversold tickets and there was barely any room to move. Smoking section is upstairs on the rooftop, with a decent view of the city and some comfortable-​looking couches to lounge on. Lots of douchey basic bros and girls wearing club dresses with 4-​inch heels. Would not come back.

I really want to like this place. It’s close to my apartment, they book great acts, and has a marginally better crowd than Pacha or Marquee. The huge problem is the way in which they handle their line to get in, which I understand is a horrible process by its nature, but it should not be this bad.
Why are ticket holders and non ticket holders relegated to the same line for the first 95% of the process? They make everyone, regardless of whether you bought tickets ahead of time, get on one huge line with no organization and no bouncers to stop the ridiculous amount of line cutting that goes on. They have ONE bouncer checking IDs… ONE! It’s not like he’s scanning them either, it’s a quick look and THEN you get to separate based on whether you bought a ticket. When it’s warm, this is only frustrating and inefficient, in the winter, this would be downright cruel. Shouldn’t you have a separate line for ticket holders like every other club? PLEASE HIRE MORE BOUNCERS.
For the amount they charge for drinks, plus the $ 7 tiny bottles of Fiji water, there is no way they should be this understaffed and poorly run.

I actually think this place is pretty cool but the staff might need a stern speaking to. In the process of walking down the stairs from the roof my girlfriend and I were repeatedly ridiculed and insensitively made fun of by the bouncer at the main level, for no reason.
Me: Hi
Bouncer: You’re fucking stupid
Me: Why are you doing this?
Bouncer: You’re fucking stupid!
Cool, cool I guess. Most people would have been pretty pissed man. Y’all gotta do better than that. Negative vibes and he just kept calling us names and cursing at us over and over again, until we finished walking into the next room. I go out A LOT and host 4 – 5 events at different venues a week and have never been treated like that before. Come on guys. In summation, he was a meanie :/

What a shit show. Staff was completely unorganized and were practically fighting with each other in front of everyone. We had a table but it took forever to get us in. We were smushed up against this fence and to make matters worse I had like a cracked out ugly version of Simon Rex pushing up against me. He reeked of booze and cigarettes. Screaming over me for a Brandon which was the same Brandon that was supposed to be working on our table. It just felt like I was in a zombie scene except there weren’t any weapons I could use to get the parasites away from me.
We finally got in and get to the table. The back is a shit hole. The DJ booth totally blocked any view we could’ve had. The music was intense and loud which some might like. Should be mentioned that it was strictly House music.
The roof top bar/​smoking section was like a totally different scene. You go from gay men and drag queens singing about wanting your body to all radio and top hit music. The gay men are still there except they are drunk with lazy eyes trying to get a hook up. Again, felt like I was in a zombie scene again. Only this time, I wasn’t sure if I should injure the zombie or feel bad for it.
It got really packed and a lot of the attendees were rude and aggressive. It’s not the establishments fault but it certainly housed many of these types of people.
One positive I could find was when I tried to use the bathroom and there was a long line of men. A nice bouncer man told me that there was a ladies room upstairs.
I would not be back to this place if you weren’t sure of my opinion.

Yo. This place sucks.
I was SO stoked to finally go to space ny. I needed se dirty beats, and was sure that space would accommodate those dirty beats.
Well, I was wrong. The staff is horrible, they argue with each other in front of customers. Everything is so unorganized there. My friend had a table for his birthday. He emailed some guy Brendon, Brandon whatever the hell his name is that works there about said table. He told my friend that we wouldn’t have to wait in line, we’d go right in blah blah blah. We didn’t go right in, we had to wait. And some chick who claimed to be on the real housewives of ny, was let in before. Just an FYI, she wasn’t on the real housewives. She might watch the show, but that’s it.
Anyway, back to this horrible establishment. so 16 of us are just standing there… waiting…they told the table was being setup. The fuck? Are they building the damn table? Eventually we’re finally told we can go in. They let 4 of us go in, then stop… my friend had to flip out on Brendon, Brandon and tell him that we’re all friggin here and to let us the fuck in.
Yay! We’re in. What a shit hole. Pacha looks better than this place. Yeah, I know. I didn’t wanna say that, but it’s true. It literally looks like they slapped black paint on, threw a couple disco balls up and said «sweet, let’s open.»
The music sucked. «Let’s jack» was played for a good 45 minutes. Nobody wants your body, and we’re not gonna jack.
The VIP area is a joke. It’s one long couch with what looks like a shitty end table. My girlfriend cut her knee on said shitty table. I hope she doesn’t have to amputate her leg, because like I said. the place is disgusting.
The rooftop was playing top 40 hits. WHAT? Why?! This is space! I’m supposed to be overwhelmed with sick beats, and flailing my arms everywhere. Nope back downstairs we go, to dance with the obnoxious trashy people.
Some guy walked straight into me almost knocking me down. Now, I’m kind of vertically challenged. This guy was about 6’4, walking full force into 5’1 me. Yeah, and he just gave me a face after I said EXCUSE ME.
There’s no security anywhere, the drinks suck. and like I said… I’d rather go to pacha. Yeah, it’s that bad.
Do yourself a favor… stay away.

This is by far the worst club I’ve ever been to, not only is this place tiny, but the drinks are about as strong as a baby trying to arm wrestle you. The sound system isn’t all that great either, poor visuals with the crappiest light show I’ve ever seen.
Not to mention that I’ve gotten thrown down a flight of stairs for trying to diffuse a situation, not once but twice and went straight to the hospital because the BALD WHITE 250+lb bouncer fell on my leg and hyperextended my knee in the opposite direction. The worst part about it was that I wasn’t assaulting anybody and with NO verbal warning I was thrown down a flight of stairs for trying to calm my friend down.
I wouldn’t recommend this hole in the wall to ANYBODY, unless your trying to get thrown down a flight of stairs for no reason, then hey this is the perfect place for you!

The rooftop is nice, but thats about it. The dance area is extremely small and claustrophobic with a small row of couches. If youre at a big event, go to the bathroom before you arrive because the line wait will be about 20 mins. The wait at the rooftop bar was about 25 minutes due to a lack of bartenders and high crowd.

Writing this 30 mins post me being home after my first time here, that’s how much fun I didn’t have!
Cover is insane,$ 40 at 3am, really?! Doesn’t matter girl or guy. Door guy acted liked he was doing my friend and I a favor when he gave us 2 for 1 ticket.
Upon entering club was much smaller than I expected. Lots of heavy fog. Table service was not even close to full, which annoyed me even more considering what my friend and I just paid to get in. We decided to have a drink and feel it out.
What a surprise, well drinks were beyond expensive, $ 13 each! After paying this tab we knew we needed to GTFO! Will not be coming back here so many more better clubs to choose from in the city.

Was finally able to check out SPACE after hearing about it through the grapevine from friends and fellow club goers. SPACE takes its name from the famed MIA and IBIZA locations, where attendance is a dance enthusiast paradise. My boys used to frequent another dance haven, you probably heard of it, Pacha, which is located a mere few blocks from Space.
SPACE IBIZA boasts a huge, one floor dance floor with large disco balls and shiny laser lights on the ceilings, a dj stage/​podium and that gritty dance vibe. Speakers are loud and clear. They dont give u that uncomfortable ringing in the ears. Crowd on a Saturday was mixed: the regular low-​cut, short-​dress girls, with the Asian sensations dancing in a drunken stupor in the corner, add to that those guys that try WAY to hard to dance and u got all the makings of a dance club. I mean, who says u cant find love in the club??? But nahhh.
Anyway…
Drinks are waaaay overpriced and watered down. Coatcheck IS $ 6…DA FUQQ?? Place was a aiiiiight but not memorable.

Space «Ibiza» New York — from a guy that has partied around the world including the real Space Ibiza I can tell you this venue is nothing close to the Ibiza one, neither in terms of space (the one in ibiza is huge with multiple dance floors, etc) or capacity.
I came here on their grand opening night (September 12, 2014) talent for the night was Michael Mayer (a german techno DJ) + Alexi Delano
* Getting in: I had purchased tickets in advance as soon as they released them on wantickets for $ 25 plus fees; some people told me they were charging $ 100 at the door on the day of the event so I suggest you plan accordingly. We got in line around 10:30pm and were inside by 11:15pm so to give you an idea. I heard the line got worse the later it got since this club is «the new hotness» and has a lot of buzz.
* The crowd: since grand opening night was the weekend of New York Fashion week, there were a bunch of models and VIPs in the venue. Unlike Pacha NYC, this club is 21+ and everyone in the crowd was mature and good looking. My friends and I were on the dancefloor the entire night and had our own space to dance… other clubs in NYC sometimes gets super packed but not this place… neon shirt bros don’t like techno I guess.
* The venue itself: The dance floor has a nice design with discoballs and a good funkiton sound system, this is probably the best sound system in Manhattan (the other club with a similar sound system is Output in Brooklyn)
TL;DR — The best club in Manhattan so far; buy tickets in advance and online. Plenty of room to dance vs other clubs… No neon bros were seen in the wild.
