Spruce & Bond – NOHO

Finally, I’ve found my waxing spot! NoHo location is fantastic. I apparently have high standards and have been disappointed by every other place in the city so far. Atmosphere was private, quiet and peaceful. And the wax was way less painful than other places; it didn’t feel like someone was ripping off my skin. I was 100% satisfied.

I was referred to Spruce and Bond a few months ago by a good friend. So far both of my wax experiences have been positive. Tabaya and Ashley are both so professional and kind. They made me feel comfortable and did an impeccable job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Went here a few weeks back for Eyebrow Tinting and Shaping called the «blueprint» almost 100 $ for really terrible service. Number one, the studio is a joke of a location. You walk into a reception area and there is a high top table in the corner where they actually do your brows. There is not a separate treatment room with proper lighting for the person to see you. She had me face her which was away from the window, hence my face was in the shadow. You are being treated right by the big display window, with a ton of people walking by. Her light was a little Ikea desk lamp, definitely not bright. There was no way she could have seen all the brows she had to pluck. On top of that the tinting… she tinted more of my skin above and below my brows than my actual eyebrows. I am not impressed at all. My brows didn’t look better at all but uneven. I have them thread normally and they always have a nice shape. When I made it home I noticed a bunch of stray eyebrow hair between my eyes as well as above my eyebrow, which I fixed myself. I am never coming back to this place and wish I could get my money back.

I’m always hesitant to write this review as I know it will be harder to book an appointment with Christi — but she SO deserves it. Christi is amazing at what she does and is for EVERYONE from waxing rookies to veterans. Amazing bedside manner and will educate you on how to properly groom yourself. She is quick (less than 15 minutes!) and makes the process completely painless! Also, buy a package — it’s so worth it!

One word: Christi. Christi is the best. She is incredible. I’m a laser hair removal evangelist thanks to her. She’s great at her job, sweet, terrific bedside manner, and answers any and all questions with a smile.

Go see Christy for all of your lazer and waxing needs, she literally changed my life. She has great bedside manner and knows how to deal with the most sensitive skin.

I have to give another huge shout out for Thomas, the brow master. I flew all the way from California to NYC to have him do my brows bc he makes my face look amazing. I heard someone gave a bad review, and so I just have to write again because in my view, there is no one better. I will fly back again in a month and a half so Thomas can work his magic.

Let me just say that I have been a happy customer for a few years. The receptionists are very warm and friendly, unlike most front desk people who often seem like they’re bored to death/​too busy for you; the services up until my most recent have been great.
I am writing now because my most recent experience was horrific. I have been getting Brazilian waxes for over 15 years and have never had an experience as awful as the one I received here. I don’t feel comfortable naming the person who did my wax, but she is a new hire. She did not do any trimming prior to the wax despite me being uh, overgrown. She kept mentioning that she was crunched for time (not my fault as I arrived when the appointment was scheduled), and that «we» needed to work fast if we were to finish. She got a gob of wax and spread it all over my pubic area and ripped the whole thing at once without separating it into sections. I have never bled from a Brazilian before but did here. The worst part is that I was in terrible pain for the next three weeks and had these huge, red, angry bumps that were bleeding on and off until the whole dang thing healed. I had to go to my dermatologist and take steroids because of the inflammation. It was so painful (it literally hurt to touch my hand to my pubic area) and I was so angry because this totally ruined my whole purpose of getting a Brazilian in the first place (sexy time, duh). It took about two months for that area to heal and obviously when the hair started growing back it was all ingrown.
This was literally the worst experience of my life; I was in so much pain that it hurt when I was in the shower (because of water falling on my pubic area – it was THAT sore). I cannot understand why this particular aesthetician didn’t just reschedule me if she felt she could not do a proper job within the time allotted. I regret that I did not contact them sooner to let them know of my experience but I initially thought that it would get better within a week and didn’t want to make a fuss… and then too much time passed and it was too awkward to complain.
Anyway, if you are getting a Brazilian here please go with one of the more established aestheticians. A good Brazilian is almost painless (I have been getting them for a long time, so I know!) and should NOT grow back ingrown. It should not hurt or be irritated more than 24 hours after your wax. Honest to God this is a very delicate area and you should not be careless with it. I am so much more careful now in who I book with and where I go for waxing.

I really enjoy my trips to Spruce and Bond for brow services with Thomas. The appointment always begins on time and Thomas works professionally and diligently.

I did not want to do this here but I sent them a letter in response to their «did you like our service?» I got no reply 8 days ago so here it goes.
Please know the Luiz review is FAKE and the pic he says is his brows are the eyebrows of employee, Thomas, whom the review is about. The unethical stuff does not stop there.
They may no longer say they were trained or OWNED by Joe Healy but they sure did the two times I booked. I have not booked since. I see Thomas in his fake review ( Unilocal let that through?) mentions him.
Here is what I wrote them:
Please know I saw Jenny in Flatiron location and she was lovely! She was professional and caring and used the side of a tweezer every other pro has used on me.
However, when I saw a Thomas in Noho (which is a slow dead salon so you cannot blame anything on being busy) he used the FLAT part of the tweezers not the pointed end. This is considered a HUGE no no. You can ask Joey or ANY pro eyebrow specialist/​make up artist.
When one uses the flat head (the entire time — he did not once use the pointed part) it leaves much of the hair there.
The pointed part hurts a bit as it should and that is what means you got it from the root. *****
I told him” this is nutty are you really doing this?“
He said, «I have been doing this for 15 years.»
He also spent a lot of time with the coloring in of brow. You should let the person view closely before you spend 90 percent of the time coloring in and making a nice shape all with pencil.
He worked in Cleveland before. Why was I told Joey trained this man before I let him touch my face?
When I came home there were a ton of obvious hairs left behind. It was a superficial job.

As a man that likes to get his brows done, is really hard to find someone that understands the needs of shaping the eyebrows but not making them thinner, very picky, I know.
I used to have a lady whom job was wonderful, until she disappeared.
I don’t remember how, but I heard about Joey Heally and his own technique, so I decided to give it a try in one of the Spruce & Bond location (Completely Bare Spa then).
Must say that I was quite anxious when I first got there, just for the first two minutes though. The receptionist was polite and made me feel super comfortable.
And then I met Thomas, the eyebrow specialist. It was the very first time I got my eyebrows done by a man.
He was absolutely professional from the first second and I was enchanted by how he made the «brow thing» sound better than I thought! He taught me about the products developed exclusive for the eyebrows they have at the store, how to apply, the benefits. I was amazed (I still am)!
I’ve been to him a few times, now. Just haven’t done any review before because I wanted to check if the quality of the service was going to stay the same.
Well, I’m very happy and not disappointed at all.
He’s my man to go when the subject is eyebrow!

Minimal pain, beautifully scented waxing. Looking forward to remedying my butchered brows with their eyebrow specialists.

I found this place when it was «completely bare» and I bought a groupon for a one time service. That was four years ago.
Because their package deals are so great, I’ve bought several of them and I’ve been able to try out a lot of the different estheticians who have worked for CB. I found a Gem at this location.
Almost a year ago I came in for a wax before moving to another city and had a great experience with Ashley. When I went to book a recent appointment, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was still with the company after the changes. And she here’s the best part: she remembered me! She remembered details about me from a conversation we had months ago!
Aside from having a great personality she was great and patient with the details of my service and I left 100% satisfied.
If you haven’t tried them yet, do it as soon as possible! I like the new look, and I’m glad a number of the ladies have stayed around.

Christi is amazing. I have been getting my legs waxed from the same woman for years in my hometown, and I am always skeptical to go to someone new. Christi is so friendly, chatty, and great at what she does. I always leave feeling happy about the job and my smooth legs!
I have been to Ashley for laser as well, and she is great.
Everyone at Spruce & Bond, Noho is really fantastic, including the women at the front. I enjoy sneaking out of the office for a quick wax because I feel like I am going to hang out with my friends rather than go get my legs waxed!
I recommend this place to EVERYONE.

Best Brazilian wax in the city. And yes, it is (relatively, speaking) painless. Christi and Ashley are friendly, thorough and efficient. Get the package of 5 for a deal. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Came here under the strong recommendation of two friends. Bought a deal on gilt for three signature bikini waxes. Modern decorations and really clean place. I’ve had appointments with Ashley and Taylor, they’re both really nice and professional.
They use a combination of hard and soft was which is great. Had such a great experience I even bought a package to continue going back.

I had a great experience! I got my brows shaped, some waxing and a manicure.
Brow shaping — one of the best things about this experience is that they are honest. They don’t try to sell you into chopping off all your eyebrows so they can then sell you brow eye shadow to fill it in. NO! Rather, they take your brow measurements and simply trim off any fluffy edges if necessary. I loved that. Because to be honest, I have great eye brows that don’t need much shaping or fixing. And knowing that, and hearing a professional say that on her own and be honest with what I know is the right answer is awesome :)
Waxing — I got lip and underarms done. It wasn’t really painful an took no time at all. I had no real redness to speak of after and I’m a happy waxed girl! yay!
Manicure — when I was there my manicure was provided by Manicube. It was quick and well-​done. I got mine polished in Vinylux («Midnight Swim») by CND and it looks fab. I don’t cut my cuticles, so the manicurist was so kind and sweet and didn’t give me that weird dirty look some manicurist do when you tell them that. She filed, buffed, massaged and fixed up my claws. I like to keep them short and square — she did an excellent job!
Overall, awesome experience. Definitely will go back. I’m also looking into laser one day and I saw that they offer that too!
