My name is Lorenzo Vasquez and I was hired as a porter/​doorman in a building on the upper east side in New York, NY. Always looking to grow, I was delighted to hear about the wonderful training courses the union had to offer to our members to better enhance our knowledge and skills in our field. So I quickly took advantage of this life saving opportunity. I enrolled in the Thomas Shortmans Training Program right away. I am thankful for that change in life. My first course was carpentry, electrical skills, and plumbing. I completed all of the courses, and that inspired me to take that leap of faith and start a handyman business. In addition to my above experience, I have completed countless projects on my own home, for family and friends, and have worked side by side with general contractors. Lorenzo helped me install curtains from our concrete ceilings and across very large window spans (up to 140″ on one wall)…no small feat! I appreciate his attention to detail and that he had the appropriate tools and additional hardware to complete the job! He was very communicative throughout the process (before he arrived, and throughout the work), and even helped me set up an anchor in the ceiling for our nursery mobile to hang over our crib! Thanks for your help! Would certainly hire again and recommend Sprucing Up NYC to others.

I found Lorenzo on Unilocal,and I am really glad that I did. I had several projects in my apartment which needed to be done. They included spackeling, painting (2 different colors), and hanging pictures. Lorenzo showed up on time, took charge, and got the job done. He needed to come by 3 – 4 times due to the spackel needing to dry before it could be sanded, and then painted. I have to say Lorenzo always kept in touch with me by text message, and he always showed up right on time as scheduled. As far as the quality of his work, it was great, and his prices are very fair. I highly recommend Lorenzo for your handyman projects!

Lorenzo is great handy man. I had a few odd jobs around my apartment (hanging a shelf, a picture ledge and a couple of mirrors.) He’s got a very professional attitude and an equally sunny disposition. And his rate is very reasonable. He’s punctual, and makes sure to text me if he’s running even a few minutes behind. I still have a couple more things to get done so I’m sure to call Lorenzo back.

I called Lorenzo one morning about installing a new AC window unit and he was able to come that night. He was super friendly and efficient and had everything installed and working within the hour. He was super responsive when we were setting everything up and price ($ 80 for installation of the unit support and unit itself) was definitely fair. 100% recommend using his services!

Lorenzo is easily reachable by text or phone. He had an open spot in his schedule and was able to come right away (less than 24 hrs) on his scooter or bike. He installed one sconce (wall light) for me and since I was interested he let me do the other while he supervised. A level was used to make sure the light was perfectly straight, and clean up afterwards. Lorenzo is very pleasant, a great teacher, and has general knowledge and years of experience when it comes to all kinds of home repairs. Don’t wait months to have repairs done like I did when you have a reliable, responsive, trustworthy, and capable repair/​handyman like Lorenzo to help you out!

I purchased a new a/​c unit and wanted it installed asap. I called Lorenzo yesterday, and he was able to come out to get the job done last night. He was extremely friendly and nice and very professional. He explained everything he was doing and why and even gave me some instruction in dos and donts with the unit before leaving. Price was reasonable and the installation looks great. I highly recommend him.

Lorenzo was awesome showed up on a Sunday morning, and was even early! I had a very ancient heavy a/​c unit that needed to be removed and within about 5 – 10 minutes that old thing was out!
Fair price and helpful with giving suggestions/​advice on the propers tools to use and what to buy when looking for new unit.
Definitely would recommend to friends and will be using again.

Lorenzo was great: we needed two air conditioners removed and he came by on a Saturday morning. He was even *early* — when is the last time that’s happened?
The price was fair, he was friendly and helpful, and he did an excellent job in half an hour. Highly recommended.
If we weren’t moving, we’d use him again and again.

I had an air conditioner delivered; come to find out home depot doesn’t install. I found Lorenzo on Unilocal and he came out same day for me. He installed it quickly and carefully and was extremely nice and helpful. He even gave me some advice on a wall mounted mirrored piece of furniture I am considering buying. –He took PRIDE in his work-​like it was his own home. Gave suggestions for the future. Actually cared about me, the consumer being happy above anything else. Good business on his part bc I’ll be using him again. Rare thing to find these days.

Lorenzo was fantastic!
I wanted to be prepared and get my A/​C installed before the blistering summer heat. (and make sure it was installed correctly so it will not fall and kill anyone!) Lorenzo was responsive to texts, friendly, arrived early, and finished in less than an hour! My A/​C was perfectly installed and reinforced. He also gave me helpful tips on how to clean the filter.

Found Lorenzo via Fancyhands (via Unilocal). i needed a bunch of tasks done. Lorenzo scheduled a time to come by and take a look. I spent 20 min or so walking him through the things and he said he’d email me an estimate. I never heard back. I followed up to says «awaiting your estimate» he sent back a non-​estimate (telling me his hourly rate which i already knew). I told him, again, to email me an estimate. He asked for clarification on which tasks i wanted done. I sent him those never heard back.
Not sure what happened — maybe my business isn’t wanted? Anyway, it’s been frustrating and a waste of time and the work is no closer to getting done.
