Over a dozen of us gathered for a post midnight rendezvous at The Standard Grill and the service was superb. Our bartenders Marie & Michael were very attentive, as we took over the room. The champagne was flowing, along with wonderful desserts that we all shared. Warm cookies & milk, chocolate mousse, & ice cream sundaes were perfect for our late night gathering. From the cool ambience of the ice skating rink, to the classic rock ‘n roll music and the incredible hospitality, it was the perfect venue for our group and I highly recommend this spot for locals or tourists. This is a great place to chillax!

The service, drinks, and food at The Grill were all fantastic — Maria and Michael were the BEST!!! Super friendly and helpful, and handled our large party flawlessly. Next time I’m in the city, I’ll be back! Get the chocolate chip cookies — better than mama makes them!

Cute place for hot coco under the heaters watching people skate on the ice rink while we snuggles up on the rocking hairs with some fur and blankets that the standard provides. Looked like Santas workshop! Super cute.

I stayed here for work for a few days this past weekend. The views are unbeatable, the design is outstanding, and the rooms are very comfortable. At check-in, the woman I dealt with was great, and she gave me such a nice room with fantastic views of the river, the Whitney Museum, and the High Line. At the end I had a few frustrating glitches regarding my checkout, but Olivia(one of the managers) was extremely kind, attentive and generous in addressing the issue promptly. She was really wonderful and it made a huge difference. Thanks to her and the whole Standard staff for being so friendly, and for making an intensive work stay more relaxing! Will definitely return soon. I love this hotel.

Useless hostess at cocktail lounge– what is your job? To seat customers. So why don’t just what you were hired to do? So after asking if the hostess would please seat us after being told by server she couldn’t, we wait 15mins waiting for servers whom I can see are talking and stroking their hair, we walked out. Awful service, don’t waste your time here. Not surprised by your overall 3star review.

I visited NYC this weekend to support my friend who ran in the TCSNYC Marathon, and one of the places we decided to check out was The Standard Hotel. Our overall experience was good, but we had a few less-than-good experiences. My friends and I ended up getting drinks in the beer garden area, though we had originally planned to try the rooftop bar. When we arrived and asked the hostess if we would be allowed in the rooftop bar even though I was wearing Chuck Taylor sneakers, she replied that I’d probably get denied. I followed up my first question gesturing to my crutches(I recently sustained a ankle injury) and said, «even if I’m wearing sneakers because I’m on crutches?!» Her reply was that I’d likely not be allowed in because they’d worry I would use my crutches to hurt someone. I was shocked at her reply, because while I don’t know all the laws associated with the Americans with Disabilities Act, it seemed that it may not be legal to deny someone entry for needing to use crutches to get around. With that, my friends and I decided that we would just stay in the beer garden area. While the setting was quite pleasant, our service left a bit to be desired. There seemed to be a good number of severs, but we were only able to get one drink in the hour and a half we were there; our server never came around to check on us beyond dropping off our first drink order and then eventually dropping off our check. Though our server wasn’t great, there were some helpful employees inside the hotel and a manager at the restaurant who were quite helpful, especially when I was trying to maneuver around on my crutches to get to the bathroom. In summary, the drinks were good, the ambiance was cool, there were positive and negative experiences with employees, but the hotel may need to figure out the crutches situation before there is a legal issue in the future.

Do not stay here unless you absolutely are a 25 year old tourist who wants to club where you sleep. I’m none of those but I had an affair to attend here and was in the city so decided to just stay the night… Not a good move… And if you book a room DO confirm your confirmation number as they are not really up on how reservations work. Curbside porter is non existent and the 3 front desk clerks(yes clerks not really much more can be said for their customer service or lack of) seemed to be programmed to look down and ignore you. There is a madhouse line(to get to the 18th floor club) and when I finally tackled a porter and got him to help me with my bags to get through the gyro spyro revolving yellow doors I had to elbow my way through guided by my porter as a hotel guest to get priority lift to my room? Really… The crowd in the lobby is a hot sticky mess and I will never everA ever stay here again. Do I sound unhappy? It’s because I am actually in disbelief at the need for security to accompany us in the hotel elevator for safety… I don’t usually leave scathing or even bad reviews unless I’m horrified by the venue. Word to the wise…

Great vibe and view on the roof top bar! I was surprised to see an indoor jacuzzi on the 18th floor.

Racist assholes run this place. They refused to let my Korean friends into the rooftop bar, claiming it «was not part of the hotel». If you’re paying $ 550 per night to stay in a hotel, for sure you’re entitled to visit the hotel bar! They were very disappointed and it ruined the whole mood of their holiday. Nowhere in the booking did it say the bar was off limits? In fact the whole hotel description sold the rooftop bar as the place to be, so we got compel why bamboozled. The dudes in the hotel reception, Kareem and Andrea I think they were called, said no manager was available. No manager? At a hotel this size? Is that even legal? Bad lies. The racist asshole at the door claimed it was«by invitation of the DJ only». Yeah right, he said this right after letting in some tall blond ladies and a bunch of other people. I’d recommend everyone to take your money elsewhere, especially if you’re Asian or don’t support racism. Who owns this place? It should be boycotted by all OTAs and corporations too — there’s no room for racism against Asians. Also I’d recommend all corporations to boycott this place if they have employees staying here.

If you Support our Military, do not go to The Standard Hotel. The Standard Hotel turns away Uniformed Officers of The United States Navy from entering their restaurant or lounges for«Not meeting the DRESSCODE» I am not kidding. Google it, you will see the article. This is unacceptable and I am joining a national boycott of The Standard Hotels nationwide for this reason.

Great location and style but poor service and staff. I asked the check in person if there was a chance to extend my stay and he told me to come back when I knew for sure. No one knew if there was a private meeting room and meals were delayed(slightly). That’s said its in a good part of town. Just don’t rely on then

I am obsessed with this hotel, literally my favorite place to stay. I try to celebrate all major occasions, and even minor occasions here. I feel that people generally make this hotel out to be more snobbish and pretentious than it actually is. The hotel now has an app, where if you book the same day and there is availability, you can get rooms at a discounted rate. I always see deals and specials going on here. This hotel offered victims of the recent explosion three nights stay free at their hotel. I feel it’s a down to earth, hip and vibrant place for young people to get together and have fun. The staff at this hotel is professional, sweet, and works hard to accommodate all of the guests needs. The rooms are absolutely incredible and modern. I love the view in the rooms and falling asleep to the city lights at night and waking up to the spectacular view in the morning. The bed is the most comfortable and spacious bed I have ever stayed in! I mean beyonddddd comfortable, I never wanted to leave it. One morning, my SO and I spent four hours perfectly awake in this bed just because it was so comfy on a cold winter’s morning! There is so much to do at this hotel, that it is in and of itself an attraction. There are bars, clubs, restaurants, a gift shop, all of which are very fun. The elevators are quite trippy, be sure to check them out. I personally love this hotel and cannot wait to stay here again!

The location and view were great. The room was clean. However this hotel wasn’t very friendly or very warm and welcoming. When I pay $ 600 a night I don’t want to wait an hour to go to the rooftop or feel like an after thought when we wanted to explore the hotel amenities. Make your guests feel welcome not like a nusense is my advice. Nothing terrible happened and we did have a nice time. I just wish the hotel was more friendly where the hotel guests are just as welcomed as the people frequenting the club, roof and restaurants. Hopefully we will feel more welcome and important as paying guests if we do decide to come back.

Seriously? Ryan O’Connor, 32, who is married to the sailor’s cousin, told New York Daily News: ‘We walked in, went to the elevator and were stopped by a doorman who said, «Hey man, there’s a dress code». I said, «Wait, are you rejecting us because someone is in a service uniform?» He kind of rolled his eyes and wouldn’t budge.‘ Mr O’Connor said everyone in the group was dressed well, only the Navy officer stood out. When they complained at the hotel’s front desk, they were told it was up to the ‘lounge’s discretion’.

A loathsome hotel. Do not stay here. The only reason that I’m giving this hotel two stars rather than one is that I think a lot of what I find loathsome is consistent with its brand rather than a failure to deliver. Still, don’t stay here. Rooms are claustrophobic and have all the appeal of an Amtrak sleeper car. A lot of little things about the room are just inconvenient or unintuitive. Because the shower is out in the open, the entire bathroom floor gets wet leaving nowhere to dry off. There is no full-sized ironing board, but instead a tabletop dorm one that comes with a crappy iron. A big tub takes up an inordinate amount of space in the room, and there’s a big dining-room style table in the middle for no apparent reason. I cannot overstate how functionless and frustrating I found this bedroom. The rest of the property is no prize, either. When I entered the building I was accosted with drunks dancing on me in the lobby. Elevators blast music and pictures. Total sensory overload. Also, the rooms were over $ 300 a night on a corporate rate.

I recently spent three nights at The Standard, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. A little background. I lived in one of the buildings on 7th St. and 2nd Ave that recently burned to the ground(following an explosion). I had been to The Standard as a visitor many times: for birthday parties, for drinks, and to visit people who were staying there. Following the fire, The Standard and Standard East put up all victims for three nights, free of charge. That alone is a classy thing to do. But it doesn’t stop there. The staff at The Standard — in particular Milton, a bellman, and Bryce in Guest Services, a man who went so far as to figure out that it was my birthday on my last night and send cake to my room — were unfailingly courteous, kind and excellent at their jobs. The room I was in was more than comfortable, with a bed that I had trouble leaving — and not simply because I was in shock. My birthday breakfast was excellent. And comped. And, thanks to Bryce, remembered. The bathrobes, towels and linens provided were excellent. The hotel offered much-needed respite, and I will forever be grateful. As stated, though, I write this not just as someone who was very generously taken in, but as someone who has been to The Standard many times. It is a fantastic, world-class hotel. Book a stay if you’re visiting the city. Visit if you live in the city. Just go to The Standard.

Beautiful rooms, amazing view. The dining service is not great. The food tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for over 10 minutes and we didn’t get our food for almost 20. Their kitchen is separate from the dining area so when they bring the food they bring a number of tables’ food on one tray. Their servers don’t seem all there. We had to ask for our food and drinks 3 times and just get up and walk over to the corner where they were all standing for the check after asking for it 2 times. The rooms were great. Comfortable, clean, and very funny. My cousin and I thought the box of condoms for $ 5 was hilarious and the lips that they place on the beds were also pretty funny. It’s a great place to stay. The people are friendly. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. When you go to stay there, go ahead and look at the stained glass behind the front desk, just, if you want to eat there, either eat in their dining room, or go somewhere else for breakfast :)
