Our Taco Mix mission is to serve up the most delicious, fresh, and authentic tacos using the finest ingredients available!

Before we became the Taco Mix that you know today, we were just a small taco cart on 135th Street and Broadway. But soon our juicy, authentic tacos grew in popularity! Over the years we’ve worked hard to bring our customers the most authentic and diverse tacos that you’ll find in the city. The Al Pastor taco, the cornerstone of our menu, boasts pork slowly marinated in ten spices then placed on a trompo in layers for a continuous roasted taste. This unique process gives the taco its signature flavor and the sweetness of a dash of pineapple is simply a burst of Mexican tradition! But don’t forget about our other great menu items, like the Lengua taco, burritos, or the Milanesa de Res torta with its tender breaded beef.

History

Established in 1991.

Before we became «Taco Mix» we were just a small cart of tacos on 135th Street and Broadway. This is where Mr. George Sanchez decided to start this unpredictable journey with Taco Mix. This name represented the traditional taco but added an everlasting evolution of diversity. Mr. Sanchez knew that it wasn’t just the Mexican community looking for a great taco but it was all NYC! Ever since then Mr. Sanchez has worked hard to develop a team that is passionate about bringing customers the most authentic, original, and diverse tacos you’ll ever have. 25 years later we continue to serve the people with a smile!

Who knew they made better Tacos in East Harlem than Mexico. This place is a hole in the wall Mexican joint, authentic Tacos prepared — Close to 6 train near 125th st. Had the chorizo, steak and the Pork tacos, topped off with the their salsa for a nice kick — was full but wanted to eat more. I have to come back here soon. Too bad this place is out of the way for me otherwise I would be a regular.

This is the best taco place in NYC, 100% Mexican tacos. The salsa is so good and very spicy, staff is friendly, place is clean, worth the price. I’ll spread the word to everyone I know. I’ll be back for sure.

Tried the chicken tacos last night, and to say the least, they were awful. I couldn’t tell if the meat chicken or pork. Never going back!

Ordered food from them last night and they took waaaaaayyy over and hour to make a 15 minute delivery. I called at 10pm and they said it just left mind you i ordered at 930pm. When i called at 1020pm they then said it just left due to back orders. Dont lie to me just be real. When they finally called me to say the order was here i told the manager i would not pay the full price due to their lies and late services. Instead of paying $ 30 they charged me $ 20. In my opinion if you know you are going to be late give a courtesy call instead of having people wait. In addition they could include something free or a price discount. Never ordering from here again

The most horrible experience in all my life eating there, they remodeled the place, raise the price on a taco than take lower they’re food cost and give you less product. I bought three chicken tacos and I get a little bit of chicken and a lot of lettuce half sliced tomatoes not diced and I got all that for just $ 14.00 dollars. They fell off big time trying to be new, we need the old taco mix back

I waited two hours for delivery. The food was cold on arrival. They forgot my salsa. There were no radishes. Overall, it was a complete disappointment. I will not ever spend my money here again. If you want good Mexican food, walk 8 blocks down to Café Ollin. Their cemitas are incredibly delicious. Service is prompt. Tortilla chips are made in-​house and they NEVER forget the salsa.

I can only speak for the tacos al pastor, which are incredible. The meat is juicy and well seasoned and they add a slice of pineapple, which goes perfectly with the pork. It’s great anytime, but especially late night when headed home from the bar.
Note: there is a small table in the back, and some counter space, but the place can get busy so takeout is recommended.

Well, as I said in my previous review, I give a taco place 2 chances before deciding if they are good or not. (I first heard about the place from a friend who live nearby and just like me just love tacos). I ordered chicken and beef, and expected the same, but this time it was much better! Maybe last visit it was a bad day, maybe this visit was the best day, but I care about my last stop here, and they really improved! I am going to come here again, since they are just by my friend’s place, and we both love good tacos.

A good taco is hard to find. Just staying in the neighborhood, for my money, I think the tacos are better at Tacos El Ranchero (110⁄3rd), the tortillas at Hot Bread Kitchen (116/​Park), better cemitas and flor de calabaza at Lupitas (105⁄2), and a better burrito at El Aguila. At 3.50/taco, it’s not an amazing value either, at least if tacos are what you’re after.
The lengua was a bit dried out, the goat had no swag, the carnitas and al pastor were okay.
If you’re hungry, I would go with a cemita or quesedilla, both like 5 – 6 bucks and decently sized, and load up on hot sauces.

This place lives up to the hype. The chorizo and al pastor are amazing. The chorizo is pleasantly spicy, the perfect combination of flavor and spice. The prices are reasonable too.
If you get delivery be careful. On peak times Friday/​Saturday I’ve had it take up to almost 3 hours. I’d only get delivery at off hours.

This place is EXTREMELY overrated.
I’m a SoCal native and visit family in Mexico frequently, so I know about tacos. Despite the large portion, these tacos are flavorless, dry, and overpriced. Ordered the easiest of all the options: asada and al pastor. Fail. The red sauce is really spicy, but actually too bitter for my taste; it didn’t enhance the flavor of the asada at all. Didn’t see the green sauce at the end of the counter, so accidentally used the avocado sauce for the al pastor. Watery, not particularly tasty.
Everything about this place is just average. And for $ 3.25 per taco, that’s unacceptable!
Summary: two tacos and a can of soda = $ 8. Skip this place if you’re looking for tasty/​authentic tacos, or an affordable meal.

Food is authentic and flavorful (it earns a solid A). This spot serves some of the best vegetarian tacos I have ever had. I prefer the veggie tacos (all tacos = $ 3.50) much more than the veggie burrito (which is overpriced @ $ 9 and is filled with fried cheese).
The only downside is to Taco Mix is there lack of space. Especially the lunch hours get uncomfortably tight with an abundance of hungry customers. Sometimes it is hard to fit even inside of the shop. Therefore, this is definitely recommended for take-​out only, not the type of place you are able to just chill at.

Born and raised in Mexico I could not ask for a more authentic place. My stomach and my heart are pleased with joy and happiness.
This tacos place is a small local located in 116th St between 2nd and 3rd avenue. It offers assortment of tacos, huaraches, tostadas, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, Jarritos, Sidral, Mexican Coke, and more.
Flavors are extraordinary and avocado salsa seems to be made by my grandmother. Is simply amazing.
There’s an option for everyone: spicy, non spicy, pork, meat, exotic meat cuts, chicken, vegetarians.
Vegetarians: please try huitlacoche and flor de calabaza quesadilla.
Meat lovers: Al pastor tacos are a winner.
Sitting place is very limited, most likely you will eat standing up. Take out is highly recommended. They have catering and delivery option as well.
And after eating all the deliciousness, do not forget to stop by the store next door where you can find corn tortillas, Mexican Popsicles, Mexican pastries and much more.

Heat Advisory! Growing up in California, I was taught the proper way to order a taco is always to say «with everything, and spicy» well, tonight I accidentally uttered this when I ordered two Huaraches (cecina for me, chorizo for my roommate), and holy hell, I will be regretting it for the next 24 hours! In the best possible way, of course, but still. Too much of a good thing was pretty damn amazing before it became painful, and it was my own damn fault for making myself eat the whole thing, but whatever. Next time I won’t add either salsa verde nor salsa roja, both of which I added way too much tonight, I’ll just stick with the tomatillo avocado, because they make it spicy already, my fault for doubting perfection.
Their meats are excellent, portions are huge, and because there is such high turnover, everything is always incredibly fresh and cooked to order, served within seconds! I’ve been a few times now, usually during the day when it’s sort of low on atmosphere, but tonight it was overwhelmingly charming with its gigantic diversity of employees and clientele and a soundtrack that was completely confounding yet endearing. I’ve never heard I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS played so loudly before, and never expected to hear it eating extremely Mexican food in Spanish Harlem. Hmm. Oh, and I love that they serve slices of cucumber as well as the typical radishes and limes.

So this is for the pop up shop in industry city over in brooklyn. It looks like the prices are (much) lower here, but across the bridge be prepared to drop $ 5 for one taco if you want lettuce and tomato on it. I really wish I was exaggerating. And perhaps I wouldn’t be prompted to write this review but for the fact that this was probably the single saddest taco I’ve had in my entire life. Small, not seasoned, mealy/​weird/​overall bad tortillas. And come on. 50 cents to add lettuce to a taco that couldn’t have been more than 6in in diameter? Won’t be back. Also, $ 5 for guac– which they were out of at lunchtime. (But if you’re in industry city, there are plenty of other vendors with much better food.)

Short rant: I was looking forward to trying some Mexican food since I miss it coming from LA. And just like most Mexican restaurants in NYC, this place was no different. What pizza is to NYC, Mexican food is to LA, SF, SD. Which means NYC makes great pizza but not Mexican food… If the only Mexican food you have tasted has been in NYC, or the east coast in general, then you cannot compare it other Mexican food from the west coast, AZ, NM, Texas…
Now onto my review. I got 3 tacos al pastor and they were dry! Al pastor traditionally or at least all the al pastor I have had is juicy, and full of flavor. This al pastor was tasteless, dry, and putting a piece of pineapple cannot mask the flavorless taco. And $ 3 dollars for 1 taco!!! Are you kidding me?! What a rip off. For $ 3 bucks I can get 3 tacos…
The torta was even worst… thin, piece of steak and the breading literally came off like a dry scab. A glob of mayo was just splatted on the bread, the cheese wasn’t even fully melted… are you kidding me? I’m sorry but this was not «authentic» Mexican food, it was terrible. My search continues for «authentic» Mexican food in NYC.

I never went there, I ordered to deliver.
The attendant was very friendly and was prompt to answer all my questions and help me out with my order. The minimum to deliver is $ 12.
The burrito is very big and was my lunch and dinner, and also very good. I would just as for less rice and more meet next time. But is definitely somewhere i would eat again.

As a recent transplant from American southwest, I am constantly on the lookout for good Mexican food. Something that is cheap and authentic. None of that Americanized sombrero-​decorated restaurants stuff. So far Seamless and a trip to a restaurant my friend swore was «awesome» have been a huge letdown.
That is, until I found this gem while galloping around East Harlem.
Walking in on a chilly Sunday night, I was greeted by a familiar smell of fresh ingredient and sight of low prices. This is what I remember fondly from my dining days in Phoenix. And you know a place is good when all of the diners are ordering in Spanish. When the person taking your order is bilingual, and you get a feeling this might even be a family business (not verified).
I ordered two tacos ($ 3.5 each) — one chicken and another beef. The double tortillas held the meat and shredded lettuce which was of course topped with their hottest condiments. I stood by the wall devouring the deliciousness and saving the restaurant to my «must-​return» list. Next time, I’ll go for a burrito.
