Tasti D-Lite

This location used to be very good, but tight now service is terrible and the ice cream is not that good any more. I wish we could have a 16 handles instead, specially since it is so close to home. Too bad it is so much worse than used to be.

This used to be my favorite tasti location because you could serve yourself and add your own toppings. Walked in today, and the store was entirely changed. A shot glass sized ice cream is now 3.29 and they are stingy with the toppings. No thanks. There are better places to get «frozen desserts» and now that the do it yourself aspect is gone, I suggest you go elsewhere.

First time trying Tasti D-​Lite. it was awful — tasteless and icy like old tasting! Toppings looked and tasted old. Not many choices. Staff was rude standing in the way of toppings while I patiently waited for him to move. Not worth the calories.

Really dirty and gross Tasty D-​Lite. The fro-​yo itself is watery and flavorless. And the toppings are not well maintained. Yuck!

Took me a while to get used to the new soft serve layout, but I like being able to be as heavy handed as I’d like with the toppings. Priced by weight vs. serving size at other Tastis. Good range of toppings. Down side of new soft serve mode is they no longer do custom flavors.

Why does this place have a sign in front that says ‘NY’s only self serve’? Obviously that is far from the truth. The yogurt/​ice cream here is awful, and that’s just comparing it to other Tasti D’s. Somehow the air to ice cream ratio is off and their stuff tastes weird. Skip this place and go to one of the other dozen places nearby.

The only reason I really go here is when I’m too lazy to walk to 16 handles. The people that work there seem to be miserable and the guy is rude and makes you feel bad for asking for a sample. Sometimes have decent flavors. Toppings are ok. I hope they make an upgrade so I can look forward to going there.

Probably one of the dirtiest and grimiest Tasti D-​Lites in the city. I don’t get it. The place is small and narrow. How hard is it to keep this place clean? There always seems to be dirty napkins strewn about, bits of melted ice cream on the floor and counter, and toppings spilled everywhere.
It was hot and steamy out on my way home tonight from work so I dropped in to have a cold treat, but this place just killed my appetitite when I saw the mess. Ugh. Skip this location and head somwhere else.

Every time I venture up to the upper east side I grab a quick pomegranate smoothie on the way back down. I’m not exactly sure what they put in there (a mix of pom, part of a banana, froyo…) but I tried to re-​create this smoothie when I was thirsty in miami and WHOAH it did not turn out right.
Pomegranate smoothie. Do it. It’s yummy. And apparently good for you? At least that’s what the advertisements want you to think.

First time I’ve tried tasti de-​lite. It tastes very watery and even the chocolate isn’t flavorful enough for me. But if you’re the kind to like super-​light noncreamy ice cream that’s more like unsweetened Italian ice, this is for you. And I say that not only because I’m having a bad night.
If you happen to like this chain, this is a very annoying location. It’s tiny inside, and there are too many people; I had to watch myself from dropping ice cream on others, while watching out for any ice cream dropped on me. I just had to rant about something to make up for a nutjob night of work.

Ok, it’s not really ice cream. It’s not really anything, except air and chemicals. So what if it’s filled with chemicals, though? No calories! (Is that really true?)
This location is clean and nicely lit.
Decent amount of seating.
Employee ‘tude level: fair. Not great, but not horrible.

For what is offers, Tasti d Lite is pretty good. It’s an easy place to get frozen yogurt since they have so many locations throughout NYC. The prices tend to vary slightly depending upon location (which I find very odd, you would think that they would have a standard price), and it’s fairly comparable to all of the new frozen yogurt places that have been springing up.
The main difference is in flavors and toppings. Tasti has a HUGE variety of flavors that they rotate on a daily basis (but they always offer chocolate and vanilla). This location is nice because they offer a total of six flavors each day. Sometimes the taste matches the name, sometimes it’s slightly off, but there are waaay more options than at other establishments. They also offer more less healthy, dessert topping options like fudge, sprinkles, crumbled Oreos/​Butterfinger, and some fresh fruit.
They recently started offering a green tea flavor, which is so light in taste that I couldn’t taste any green tea. The frozen yogurt consistency is smooth, but it isn’t creamy so sometimes I end up not feeling satisfied at the end. Tasti d Lite is a place to go to if you want frozen yogurt in flavors OTHER than the plain/​green tea variety of the new places; it doesn’t hide the fact that it’s offering you something that, in the end, is dessert.
