Can’t believe it closed. This was my go to spot next to GCT if you wanted a bar that closed by 10, had a 7 hour happy hour 5 days a week, served cheap presidente light, and for some reason only offered potato skins and wings for happy hour food instead of Mexi dishes. I’ll miss you, Tequilaville.

Very expensive and terrible food. The only good thing is it is right across from grand central terminal. Service is bad and options are limited. I ordered a vegetable burrito and it had squash and broccoli in it. It was about $ 15 for the leftover vegetable roll aka veggie burrito. I think I will give a better rating to taco hell over this place. Atleast they don’t charge $ 5 for a soda. One of the places which you can say once and done.

OK… so I was on my way to Num Pang and I was actually convinced to have lunch here. The decision to eat here ranks right up there with: — Smoking while pregnant — Dropping out of kindergarten — Paying the minimum payment on a cash advance — Swimming in shark invested waters after knocking over a bucket of chum The salsa was watered down and filled with vegetables that must have been cut with a dull butter knife. I ordered a chicken chimichanga which further compounded my decision to eat here. It was the microwaved ‘Hot Pocket’ version of a chimichanga(the melon ball scoop of guacamole from a bucket was a nice touch). Hot sauce is suggested to power you through the meal…

It’s certainly a convenient outlet for the Grand Central commuter crowd. Otherwise, there was nothing else«convenient» about it at all. From the first step inside it looks and sounds(a.k.a it was pretty loud) fun. And there seems to be an odd mix of Happy Hour folks as well as tourists. There is also a Barber Shop theme, although not sure how that relates to Mexican food, as it claims. So first it’s a little chaotic as you don’t know where to go sit down. There is plenty of seating space as it covers two floors and a pretty big bar. But lack of guidance from a host(do they even have one?) is a little confusing. So I made out my New Yorker self and just boldly kept walking to see what would be an ideal place to sit down with a couple of my friends who I haven’t seen in ages. We ended up going to the second floor as it seems the music wasn’t as loud there. We wanted to catch up with each other after all, so convo was a must. The second floor looked like an abandoned restaurant, with just a few patrons and what we realized was the bartender/waiter/bus boy. We ordered drinks which came at a decent time. There was some confusion as to what a «regular» tequila on the rocks comes with(salt or no salt?), but eventually my friend had to get another drink with salt. No water was provided, but we only realized this as the food came by. Unfortunately, the now busy waiter/bartender/bus boy who had a full second floor to take care of, didn’t have time to come to us so that we could order the water. The food left much to be desired. As my friend pointed out they just dumped a bag of grocery salad, topped it with some avocado and shrimp and a fancy looking tortilla and called it a salad. I would say the same about the soft tacos with chicken(left much to be desired). We ended up asking for water at the same time that we asked for the check, which took another while to get to us. It was fun catching up, but I would certainly have picked another place for it the next time around.

I went here simply because I needed a drink and an extra boost to get through the work day. Don’t judge me lol! It’s your typical after work bar for cheap drinks and no frills. I would’ve given them 2 stars but as I recall the horrible drinks I’m about to gag. Yea, the drink was that bad. I had a mango margarita, which was ok. Maybe, I should’ve gotten a regular margarita instead of flavored because it tasted like juice. Then, I had a long island iced tea… what a mistake? The drink was absolutely disgusting. If I believed in wasting alcohol, I would have left the drink alone. I didn’t complain about the drinks only because I didn’t feel like dealing with anyone’s attitude because it doesn’t appear to be the kind of place teeming with great customer service. If you decide to go here, you’re probably better off with a non-mixed drink, like vodka & cranberry. How hard is it to mess up vodka & cranberry? Actually, I wouldn’t put it pass this place. Play it safe & get a beer.

The food was really bad. Ordered tacos(chicken and steak) and it was dry, no sauce, bland, huge pieces where it wasn’t enjoyable to eat. Just really bad Mexican food. I paid $ 25 in total with a drink. Not worth it! Such a good location for a Happy Hour spot to be this bad. My advice to the owner is to renovate the entire place, starting with its menu and food! Don’t bother wasting your money here.

Food was really tasteless and the worst representation of authentic Mexican food. Overpriced and service is not very efficient, only one person covering all tables at lunch time? No, no, no and no! It’s in the middle of a tourusty area, so it’s basically a tourist trap.

$ 10.50 for a terrible margarita. I think that’s all I need to write for this to be a complete and accurate review.

Happy hour specials are decent, but the price isn’t too great for the regular-priced foods for the quality you receive. For example, a measly serving of guacamole did not come fresh with the $ 11.99 A.1. steak quesadilla I ordered. And the quesadilla wasn’t exactly piping hot as I would like it. As for the customer service, i would say it was average. Not bad, but not out of this world.

Sorry Tequilaville… came with the hopes of a margarita fix after work one day and I was let down. Beer was flat and margaritas tasted like a sour slushy :(Took a chance on wings and jalepeno poppers and immediately regretted after a few bites. Clearly previously frozen, clearly cooked in some kind of oil/grease that was NOT fresh(you could tell by the taste.) Ugh. Has any one seen that show Bar Rescue? on Spike(I think?) This place seriously needs a total overhaul. I only sat at the bar area but everything about it seemed old/unkept/in need of some Fantastic or Lysol. The pole along the bottom of the bar(where you rest your feet) was broken. I stepped on it and almost fell over in my chair! No thanks :(

Friday evening happy hour. The music is… LOUD. If you’re sitting at the bar, expect to shout at your peeps. Top 100 songs in a mash up with the DJ upstairs, great upbeat place across Grand Central. Had the House Margarita in red wine. I liked it-the apple slices in there was a nice complement to the strong taste of red wine and brandy. Not pleasing to the eye but tasty. The location I sat along the bar wasn’t ideal but was left no choice ’cause it was packed. Avoid the back of the bar because the bartender takes a good while to come. Also avoid the skanks. Had the pleasure of sitting next to a busty skank entertaining 2 men, dry humping and going all over one of them, all the while bumping into me occasionally. I got a piece of that ass for free! :P Thanks Tequilaville for treating me to my first drink in NYC. Also thanks to the skank, I wanted out there immediately so I gulped down that drink in less than 10 minutes. Tequilaville, hats of to your margarita for being the first drink that made me drunk and ending my spring break on a memorable note.

I’ve been meaning to review this place for months because its simply awful and people need to know it. I’m all for cheap drinks, and I know they are hard to come by in midtown but I rather pay full price for a beer than deal with non existence wait staff that is rude when they do decide to come around. They care nothing about service in this bar(and I guess they don’t have to). I was given dirty looks and an attitude for asking for additional utensils, napkins and for getting up to get my drink from the bar(which also took forever) because the waiter never came around. Food is also just mediocre. My advice is to find other places around the area with good drink specials. They are few and far between but they do exist. If you are willing to go down to 3rd ave, Wharf Bar has great deals. Take the walk!

Happy Hour — $ 3 for bud/bud light, $ 3.50 for El Presidente, $ 5 margaritas, and $ 5 for wings/nachos. For that alone you get a star. Other than that, the place is dirty crowded, and loud.

Their happy hour appetizer specials aren’t too shabby. Their margarita’s are pretty meh. Things like nachos, potato skins, quesadillas DO hit the spot. and they spare no expense when it comes to nice thick, lime slices with tequila shots. Nicely done there, Tequillaville! This is a pretty good place if you’re looking to kill time waiting for people near Grand Central Terminal or are randomly«pre-gaming» or spending«quality time» with coworkers in Midtown East(this is the sole reason I’ve been here about 2 or 3 times) or in a big group of hungry, undiscerning alcoholics and for some reason NEED to be in this wasteland area of… I mean… the confines of Midtown East, lol. At least they FAR exceed T.G.I.F. Friday’s(also in the area, lol). Also, their red sangria here is pretty darn satisfying.

This place is not bad, decent food reasonable prices. I have been here for lunch a few times & the beef tequenos are great large enough to share as an appetizer if u choose to. one of the best things about this place is they have some decent happy hour specials, buckets of beers for $ 24 for 5 beers, which for midtown standards is pretty good. for me the best deal are the margaritas specials at $ 5 dollars a glass, they taste good & at least give you a nice buzz.

Hood Rat Hood Rat Hoochie mama! Feel like hanging out in the parking lot drinking 40s and smoking out? If so, you will love this place. Came here with my roommate on Friday night, hopping to solve our never ending quest for margaritas Felt like I was at a Ghetto Airport bar, at 7pm half the place was smashed, one guy was falling over, there was no where to sit, and a weird smell. Needless to say we promptly left. Do yourself a favor and don’t go here. I would have a better time buying a bottle from the liquor store and drinking out of a brown bag.

What’s with the 2 stars? I find that very untruthful based on my visit… We’re staying at the Grand Hyatt, and after the Chinese food weekend, we decided on «staying sober» and getting a great meal. «Sober» and«Tequillaville» doesn’t really go together, but hey, we managed! We were served by a sweet man! He was attentive and patient listening carefully to my fiancé’s long list of «dos and donts» UGH he’s such a girl…(my fiancé)…The place wasn’t packed. There were groups here and there and it was pretty quiet.(People started to pour in when we were leaving…) I got the Seafood Paella and he got the beef burrito! My dish was savory and jam packed with SEAFOOD! not imitation crab and junk, but real seafood! Meaning, mussels, shrimps, calamaris!!! It came with enough pasta to finish without feeling bloated and the sauce actually covered all of the pasta so it didn’t taste dry at all! YUMMMYYY! The plate was HOT so I knew it just came out of the kitchen. Our utensils were clean and the plate didn’t have any nasty residues. I got the lemonade which I’m still confused about to this day. I don’t know if it was hand made or if it was just watered down… lol We left happy and full! Boo to the 2 stars!

contrary to the other Unilocal reviews. im giving 3 stars thanks to their friendly service &HAPPYHOUR(you don’t have to sit at the bar)!! HH starts EARLY w/$ 5 small frozen MARGARITAS… i got the rasberry one! we also got yummy lemon drop shots(not for HH)… unfortunately the drinks here are weak FREE chips w/spicy salsa for munchin’… the food we ordered was pretty mediocre. BUT the sampler has some surprisingly good baked potato & cheese halves! its was our friend’s BIRTHDAY& the waiters were nice enough to bring him a HUGE brownie sundae w/a candle, on the house!

Not too shabby! I’ve avoided this place for years because it always looked puke-level kitsch and way over run by Corporate Connecticut types(no offense! The father of my God Daughter is one of you. I just rarely have the desire to be inundated by more than two of you at a time :-). But a friend had her birthday bash her on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised! The management was super nice! Our bartender has been there for 21 years! He made a magnificent Long Island and Margarita for the $ 6 happy hour menu… and when that was over and our drunk tushies splurged to buy premium??? HEHOOKEDITUP!!! For both happy hour prices and premium prices, the man filled the glasses with all liquor and just a splash of mixer. Thank you, Jorgio! The appetizers were pretty bleh. The wings were doable. The potato skins were kind of a laugh. The nachos were plain. The quesadillas offered nothing special. But this place is definitely all about the happy hour. So I didn’t care about the mediocre food. I say give them a whirl for a solid happy hour! Once you’ve slammed a few of Jorgio’s drinks you won’t care about the food :-)
