Agreed — as someone else said fast food in disguise. Really cheap and you get what you pay for. The bathroom was disgustingly smelly — felt like I was in the South Seas or back alleys of Bangkok. One plus was the service was extremely fast but the portions were small. Skip if it if you can…

My friend ordered me lunch from here because she is awesome and we both were forced to come to the office the fateful day after Juno 2015. How did it taste? It was okay. How does my stomach feel? Not okay. AVOID

The food here isn’t strictly inedible. But it doesn’t really taste like thai food either.

Totally unhappy with Thai-Nam. Ordered via seamless and got here with a quickness. So what was I unhappy about? I got the fish cakes and Kuay Tiew Kee Mao. $ 7 for fish cakes which were as small as the wafers you get at communion and only three pieces. The carrot slivers were bigger. The Kuay Tiew had no flavor and the portion was also small. Perfect size for my 3yo not for adults. Never again will I order from Thai-Nam aka Chef’s Secret

Ordered from seamless and est delivery was 15 – 30 min. They delivered within 30 min as expected(my office is .6 miles from the restaurant). Got the pad thai lunch special with salad. Salad was a little watery with not enough ginger dressing but scarfed it down anyway since i’m starving! They noted my request and cooked my bean sprouts(Yay!), gave me chopsticks and hot sauce on the side. Pad thai is a decent sized lunch portion and chicken isn’t chewy but not super tender. Lifted my noodles to see a decent puddle of oil but maybe that’s where all the flavor comes from? shrug Would probably order from again.

Came upon this place without checking the reviews on Unilocal First. Came in hungry… left still hungry. I normally always over order too many dishes and this time I must’ve not done that apparently. Maybe it was either the musty smell of a basement/consignment shop mixed with a faint smell of gas that made me sort of moody? Or perhaps my blood sugar levels dropped? Something about this place was just not cutting it. *Shrimp Pad Thai — too sweet… tasted like candy. The consistency was there BUT it wasn’t worth ordering. *Green Curry Chicken– Bland… didn’t taste much like curry at all… the color was off and to be honest it tasted like milk. The Waitress/Hostess was very dull… maybe a change in profession? If you see this place on your walk from work… just walk on by…

Not too bad! The Shrimp fried rice and Shrimp pad Thai are just delicious! My parents just loved them so much. Restaurant was a bit crowded as usual during lunch hours but the wait wasn’t too bad.

I think these guys changed their name to «Chef’s Secret» to avoid all these terrible reviews. hint: that sh-t don’t work homey, get a new Chef. I ordered first, and checked reviews after. Cut to the guy from Scrubs singing in opera«mistaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake» anyway, I read all these reviews and think«its a wonderful day for food poisoning, here goes nothing». Expecting the worst, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I received my order. All downhill from there. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai with soup and spring rolls. 1. the soup, as otherwise stated by other people reviewing, legit was boiling hot water with cabbage. So hot, in fact, that when I swallowed, I swear to God I burnt my throat. I’m guessing they do that to singe your tastebuds off, so you can’t taste the rest of the food. 2. The spring rolls were the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen and/or tasted in my life. They were the thin noodle paper, which is good, stuffed with this conglomerate of pork(cat?) meat, topped with some soggy — but intended to be crispy — onions. And the dipping sauce was straight soy sauce. C’mon man, you can’t even throw some rice vinegar or sesame seed oil in there? 3. The only reason they’re getting two stars instead of a big olé typed out«eff you» is because of the chicken Pad Thai. The portion was generous, and it clearly had just been made(not like when you get the crap thats sitting and they give you a 5 pound blob of clumped together noodles — which I was fully expecting); there was more egg than chicken, but the chicken wasn’t chewy, it was seasoned, there were a good number of sprouts and nuts and the sauce was nice — however, it got greasier and greasier as we went. fail. failfailfailfail. also, why did that cost me 20 $? And so help me god they’re lucky I’m lazy and seamlessed it because if I went there and some idiot told me my tip sucked, she’d get a full on right hook to the noggin. who does that!

Phở FAIL! Popped in on a whim and the Phở was lacking. The broth was missing beef flavor, the cut of beef in the soup was fatty, and there were very few condiments offered up, which normally accompany this soup. The saving grace of my experience? The mango with sticky rice. A generous amount of rice topped with coconut, along side of fresh mango. Lesson learned — don’t order Phở at a Thai joint, but it was hard to resist with all of the specials sings boasting the stuff.

Can’t believe the recent bad reviews! This is my local Thai place and despite having about 6 others within delivery distance, I still go here. The massaman curry and pad Thai are my favorites, but there are a lot of other good options. Great lunch specials as well. The staff is very pleasurable/nice and always accommodate requests. Lastly, when old roommate visits from brooklyn, first thing he says is ‘let’s get chef’s secret’(thats the new name of this place).

I ordered the grilled beef salad thinking it would be bigger pieces of beef and an actual salad… But I guess I didn’t read the description the right way. Beef was more like the philly cheese steak sliced beef that was probably sautéed, and the salad. well, I think it was tomatoes and cucumbers, maybe a slice or two of iceberg lettuce… Not what I was expecting… Come to think of it, this salad was more suitable as a side dish for an actual meal with other plates… Will try other dishes in the future…

This place should willfully go out of business if they have an ounce of decency left in their souls. You are poisoning our city’s people with your excuse for food, one heartless meal at a time. Occasionally I crave Thai food. I begged to get a Thai place added to our company’s seamless group order list of restaurants, and Thai Nam popped up as one of the few places(perhaps the only one?) that does group orders in our area. The Pad See Yu has the following ingredients: rice noodles, meat, broccoli, and egg. No basil(!!), no onions, no carrots, nothing that resembles Thai flavors, fresh ingredients, culinary competence, or even a hint of shame. I would like to apologize to everyone who reviewed this«restaurant» with the necessary 1 star. I didn’t listen to you, and I’m sorry.

Perfect place for quick Thai during your work week. The place is clean, spacious, quick service, no tablecloths, and quiet. I give it a good rating for lunch and maybe a quick dinner but not enough to take a date. Let me make this clear, this is not gourmet Thai food, don’t expect anything more than ok or decent. The price is right for lunch too! Hope to visit more often to expand choices in the menu. Also, I want that waitress that everyone talks about to come to me to complain about her tip… that would be a show!!!

Man I must be in a bad mood– I’ve never given two stars or less to three consecutive establishments. But if they weren’t so bad, I wouldn’t have to do this. Thai-Nam is next on my s**t list. I work nearby and I refuse to go inside ever again. This place sucks. The pad thai is terrible. And the Vietnamese food they’re trying to push is just as bad. The worse part is that it’s so expensive. $ 9 for a bowl of phở? Phở in Chinatown is $ 7 at most and it is worth every cent. When I walk by, I wonder how this place could be so empty during the lunch rush, and still stay open in Midtown. And I’m not in a bad mood for the record. I think that I’ve exhausted all my lunch options by work and none of them are particularly good anymore.

On a cold and windy Saturday noon, when I should’ve been at a hobo chic brunch place at LES, I was instead stuck in no man’s land — midtown east. On a weekend. At 1pm. The fact that all the delis were closed was a bad sign. So we walk into this place, forgoing the dingy Chinese take-out place next door thinking this could only be better, and was proven wrong. The service is terrible, partly because the waitress could not understand us. There was nothing on the menu that sounded appetizing so I went with the safest bet — a Thai salad. That wasn’t terrible, mostly due to the sweet and oily peanut sauce drenched over the three slices of cucumber, to which I award 1 star. My advice? Avoid this stretch of town altogether.

THEYCALLTHEMSELVES A RESTAURANT? I came to New York on vacation with my family and we didn’t want to go too far from our hotel so we walked around and found Thai-Nam. Wish somebody would have told us what a horrible place this was! We ordered phở soup and it was very watery. It had no flavor whatsoever. The sushi tasted horrible, who puts salad leaves in a sushi roll? Really? Everything just didn’t seem like authentic Thai or Vietnamese food. Their chef needs to go to culinary school… Terrible service, it took FOREVER for them to get food out. We had to keep asking them for our food because it just seemed like they forgot. Oh and finally, when we paid for our bill, the waitress said we weren’t leaving enough tip for her and DEMANDED that we add more. WOWWTF? Your food is way overpriced for such little portions and it doesn’t even taste like human food and you kept forgetting our orders… You’re demanding more TIP? What an excuse for a restaurant. Stay away from this place!!!

Why does this place even exist?! This was the reason why I joined Unilocal,so I could give them a poor review because they’re that bad! I despise this place! It was extremely terrible. The service sucks, the waitress was very forgetful and she demanded more tip! The food was expensive and not even worth it. The amount of the food was small and there was absolutely no flavor to it! Thai + Vietnamese food AND Japanese?! This is not real asian food PERIOD. Seriously, don’t go to it!!! Horrible.

This place was a bit mediocre, but it’s nearby my work so I decided to drop in. Had the lunch special, but kinda not happy about them not wanting to substitute the vegetable soup for the Tom Yum Gai soup, which they charge almost $ 5 for and it’s not all that great for a $ 5 soup. I would have paid $ 2 extra for my lunch, but the guy didn’t even give me the option. I had the beef see yu as the entrée. Not much flavor or vegetables to it. Nothing spectacular really. I would have gone to Thai 51 if I had the time.

The pad thai was gross… very watery. Delivery was fast though so ill give it that. Their regular menu looks way overpriced and they need to take the Nam out of the name bc theres like 2 Vietnamese dishes.
