The Ailey School offers a diverse curriculum, including classes in Horton, Dunham, Graham-​based modern, ballet, West African, hip-​hop, and jazz. These techniques, along with other creative and academic courses and repertory workshops, develop the versatility of 3,500 dance students annually who come from around the world. Founded by Alvin Ailey in 1969, the Schools programs and reputation continue to grow, under the leadership of directors Tracy Inman and Melanie Person, and offers incomparable training for aspiring professionals. The Ailey School also has a wide range of open classes for adults and programs for children.
