The second floor bar/lounge is magnificent and large, with a beautiful outdoor terrace. The décor is truly from another era…1920’s explorers meets the mideast. Wooden ceiling beams, ornate chandeliers, intricate rugs, a fireplace, plush sofas and chairs, the cute tufted kind. I was here for a private charity event. Good service at the bar and good wine. The lounge has a separate entrance to the right of the main entrance, you go up a staircase. There’s a coat check. The women’s bathroom was seriously tiny and uncomfortable to use, two stalls and one sink. I didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor terrace since it was rainy and cold, but I do intend to come back here on a warm summer night and enjoy a good cocktail in this very chill and dreamy space.

I really love to come this place. There isn’t noise, and great pizza! But only my issue is they don’t open lunch. Whenever I want to come always closed. Hope they open weekdays lunch!!!

As a frequent guest at the hotel I appreciate that the lobby area is reserved for guests only during peak times. In the past there would be no seats available, an appalling thought when you are out of town and just want to sit with friends and have a quick bite to eat. The lobby is so comfortable and homey, thanks for the policy. I have watched the hostess, several times, kindly explaining to people that it is «hotel guests only» and offering an alternative. Most people get it, unfortunately there were a few people who felt«entitled» and were very rudely disruptive.

Feels like you stepped back in time with this one. another era. Ms. Dinsmoor’s house from the 1998 film adaptation of «Great Expectations» meets«Grand Budapest Hotel». Haunting, moody, seductive decadence of yesteryear. Places of this caliber and aesthetic always appeal to me. I love to people watch and mingle here. Never disappoints. Well dressed, beautiful people. Artsy people. Well spoken, mysterious people. Dark, swanky, eclectic interior. Velvet, leather, Persian rugs. small-ish bar area but there are tables and plush chairs/couches in the adjacent areas to chill at. Fireplace. Outdoor garden lounging. Fair drink prices, if you are in the area this is a go-to spot for after dinner drinks and conversation.

Very nice hotel. Good service, comfortable bed, and classy decoration. The lounge brings you back to the old time. Great atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and plenty of seating only if you are a guest of the hotel. If stopping in for a drink we were told we had to stand inside the overcrowded bar and couldn’t sit on the couches. Drinks are reasonably priced.

I am a lifelong New Yorker and downtown resident. We had 6 pm dinner reservations elsewhere and were in the neighborhood of The Bowery Hotel. We were 4 people. I had never been to the hotel — was excited to go and have drinks in the lobby. Even though we were just going to be there for about 40 minutes, the maitre d said that because we were not guests of the hotel we could not sit in the lobby bar area but just in a small bar tucked away in the back off the lobby. OK. So we went there and there were only two places to sit. Still OK. We’re flexible. We wanted an espresso, and a few drinks. No coffee or tea in that bar. You have to go to the lobby for that… But of course we weren’t welcome in the lobby(since we were not guests of the hotel despite the plethora of empty seats and tables). I tried to find the maitre d to talk with him but he was first nowhere to be found and then finally in the process of telling another group that they were also similarly not welcome. Way to go Bowery Hotel. Alienate the locals…

Very classic old school design. Reminds me of London hotels. The bar and restaurant are equally as stylish and impressive. Def recommend this spot that is also centrally located downtown.

Wow, I’m surprised by all the great reviews of this place — considering it never seems to be «open to anyone not staying in the hotel». I went here once after dining at Gemma. Maybe that’s the trick to getting in… After that one time, I’ve been given the brush off by the doormen every time I’ve gone back since(and I’m done going back at this point). The place will be completely empty(with the majority of the tables«reserved» for hotel guests) and I’m usually told that it’s «closed because there are too many people in the bar tonight». Really? Come on, at least tell me the truth as I stare at an empty room you call«full».

I do like the old world feel of the place and the bartenders know what they’re doing. I’ve had a mean Negroni here on several occasions. However, there’s very little seating for guests(unless you’re staying at a the hotel, which I don’t recommend) and the place reeks of stale cigarette smoke, its biggest flaw.

Dont go here. They wouldnt let us sit in an empty lounge because the ‘hotel is filled to capacity and this lounge is for the guests.’ as a successful native new yorker who can actually afford to buy their overpriced drinks with my equally successful and hot friends, they should want our patronage; instead, we are never headed there again.

This was by far the swankiest place on a little Bowery Bar crawl I took part in with a few visiting friends last night We had been to the large venue space they have upstairs for a Book Release party months early. Some of our friends were a few years older and wanted something more refined. This spot immediatley came to mind and even though the smaller lobby bar was not our originally intended destination in the same hotel, it certainly worked. The actual lobby bar is not that large. There’s about 2 couches in the room and probably enough space for about 20 – 30 people. Adjacent to the actual lobby are more comfy suede sofa chairs to sit on. And a backroom as well surrounded by many books on the walls and a piano. This would be a great classy date spot actually. I admittedly felt a little underdressed there. I only had one jameson shot, so I can’t talk about the cocktail choices or prices. What I will vouch for is the relaxed ambience. Come here if you actually want to have a converseation with somebody.

Ever want to feel like you are sitting in a rich library filled with tomes that you have read and even memorized while sniffing brandy out of beautiful glass tumblers? Well, come here. The ambiance is beautiful, very lush and very refined. Think sitting on a plush chaise while reading the paper and slowly lowering the paper and peering above spectacles at the people coming in. Yep, that kind of place. The bar area is a little small, so be prepared to stand if you haven’t reserved a table or been fortunate enough to secure a seat at the bar. It can be a little pricey, but you’ll have a great time.

As much as I like this place, I do have a couple issues with it. Mostly, the staff is incredibly pretentious and won’t let you sit inside if you’re not a hotel guest. However, the place is very cute and cosy(even the glass-covered patio), good drinks, great brunch food and very affordable places. It seems like a very trendy space for many people to just work, read a book or sip coffees with their friends.

I come here more frequently than I let on. It’s pleasurable for me to sip elegant wines, eat enjoyable food and order a very nice burger for my spoiled little fur companion without any fuss. In fact, most people know him here and welcome the Lion King’s four footed regal arrival. And, it’s hilarious how each and every time his burger is served to him, medium well on china, he has to thoroughly inspect it. After dining, you can find him passed out in the walkway, with his belly exposed, forcing people to walk around him. I had tile fish here twice this week. The restaurant is serviced by Gemma, in case you didn’t know. On the first night it was served with onions and red and yellow peppers while on the second visit it was accompanied by brussel sprouts and autumn vegetables including potatoes in a white wine sauce. I really enjoyed the creativity surrounding the same fish in the matter of days. The place is generally filled with«celebrities» — aside from my Lion King. In fact, the 20 something year old gaggle of girls next to me were jibber jabbing how Keanu Reeves may be in the building and other world shattering topics like, oh my God… my boyfriend did /didn’t text me last night, like oh my god, what should I do and like oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!! I was listening smiling in gratitude how I am well past that stage in my life but it was totally cute to observe their exuberance. Regardless of who may or may not be in the Lounge at any given time, I find it to be a chill bohemian vibe I really dig. I’ve brought my mom for my birthday a couple years because the Lion King can join in our celebration and mom really enjoys it too, which surprised me as she can be somewhat picky in her old age. She especially likes the Manager, Mario, a very affable host. Their wine list by the bottle is rather extensive and you can opt for basic wines up to some nice baller level wines. They have a little bit of everything available, which is always appreciated. The only«celebrity» I saw there of any significance to me specifically was a literal angel that came down to form one evening to observe like on Fringe. My Parisian friend from a spiritual radio talk show and I were absolutely mesmerized by his presence, for real…

I came here for a Lucky Rice cocktail event and it was awesome. I can’t speak about how good the actual bar is on a regular night but the space is pretty awesome. They have a nice outdoor patio(no view) and a very large bar area that is separated out into two separate areas. Definitely a cool space to chill out in and worthy enough for smaller corporate events.

I really like this place. And there are many reasons why. So let me tell you. First of all, this place is classy. Take a classy date here, you can hear each other talk, lounge on the beautiful couches and there’s even a fireplace to keep you warm(even in the early Indian summer days of Fall). Second, the clientele is well-heeled. You will be surrounded by sexy people. And that’s what it is all about here in glitzy sex-infused New York City. Third, get a drink at the bar. Now granted the cocktails will be about $ 15 a piece, but they are worth it. Strong drinks. I had the Smoked Negroni and the hottie had a Russian mule. Even the date proclaimed the drinks are strong. Let’s just say he looks like a Russian mobster(minus the cold chain, but with the alcohol imbibing gene). Lastly, even after the bar closes, you might be able to just sit in the hotel lounge. If you’re well behaved, low key, they’ll just let you sit there until you want to go. Just like their hotel guests. We took our time and finished our drinks around 4:30am. We walked out hot drunk and happy. Thanks for a great sexy summery Fall night.

Super chill bar in the lobby area of this hotel. My friends and I stumbled upon this place after finding out that a bunch of bars in the area were just about to close. I’m glad we found The Bowery because it has such a chill vibe and laid back ambiance. I like the low lights and not-too-crazy crowd of people. I ordered a standard hef because I wasn’t really feeling any of the cocktails here. Like any other hef, it was fine. I wasn’t super blown away or anything. We also took some tequila shots later that night. I always am down for tequila, so that was great. Never anything bad to say about tequila. My only complaint was my $ 11 beer and the lack of a wide beer menu. I guess they focus more on cocktails here, but I just wish they had more craft beers.

While the location and cute décor are major pros to this location, I have the following issues with this bar: –over priced cocktails($ 16), given it’s manhattan I understand this. But given the location, there are far better places with slightly cheaper prices — ambiance: no music, an abandoned piano, they could try a lot harder(especially for a Friday night) — seating: although their is an abundance of seating it’s for hotel guests only, leaving people sitting on the floor in the bar. Kind of tacky given there was ample space in the lobby for non hotel guests to sit. I won’t be back, but consider this review an FYI for others.

One of my favorite spots in the city for a cocktail. Even if you are not a hotel guest, if its a quiet night you can enjoy the old-fashioned suede chairs(both inside and outside). And if it is crowded, the bar at the back is always lively and the bartenders are very friendly. For drinks, I would recommend a Moscow Mule — they are excellent here.

You walk through the entrance of the hotel reception and the lobby bar area is very classy with nice suede chairs and the bar is on the left hand side slightly tucked away from the foot traffic. Impressions: great place to have a cocktail and conversation. The waiters were very friendly and those liquor pours were quite generous. Really liked the décor of the place, it’s what I envision a hotel bar in the early 20s. As far as the drinks, they have quite an extensive list of cocktails(gin, martinis, whiskey, bourbon, campari…). I had the Bowery classic which was solid but nothing super spectacular. The prices are actually not horrible, most of the drinks were $ 11 – 12. Bottom line: I would come back again because this place is awesome but the drinks wouldn’t blow your mind but that’s okay 90% of the time.

5 stars for the dark wood décor, old dog pictures & delicious cocktails 1 stars for only letting hotel guests sit in the outdoor area & the not so delicious cocktail prices(~$ 18)

Beautiful, dark wood décor with hunting and outdoorsy accents. Came on a Thursday night and it was already bustling. They don’t seat non-guests in the dining area when it’s busy, so the hostess directed me towards the bar area; even the bar was full! It was so crowded… But anyways, Josh the bartender informed me that their Fall menu is coming soon, but it’s still currently Summer cocktails. My Regalo Verde(Tanteo tequila jalepeno infusion, St. Germain, Chartreuse, basil, lime) was perfectly balanced and the drink really let the taste of the tequila take center stage. Would come back to try more drinks– though probably a different day, or earlier, so I can try to snag a seat.

I’m surprised at everyone’s reviews. When I went, the staff was more than friendly and polite. The hosts said that sadly if you’re not staying in the hotel, they can’t provide seats but there is a bar that is open to everyone, which was beautiful in itself. The whole lobby bar and lounge gives off a very 1920 – 40’s vibe, which I love. The bar staff were also courteous and polite. They were quick to take orders. It wasn’t overly filled in there either on a Saturday night. I got The Hemingway and Vivien Leigh(two of my favorites of all time) and both were absolutely delicious. It’s not cheap($ 15 – 16 a drink) but definitely would go back just for the awesome décor and I am in love with the names of those two drinks.
