Visited the first time this past weekend for Marc Cary’s residency and was very pleased with the intimate nature of the venue. They want to be known for great jazz and has some work to do. The space had about 60 seats, which was awesome. The bathroom, however, is behind the stage so I don’t know what they do if someone has to use it during a show.
Had a great time. Owen, the emcee for the evening, was friendly and funny. I’ll be checking this place out, especially with the jazz residencies they have going in for the next few months.

Going to a performance here felt like stopping into somebody’s living room. I love the intimacy of it along with just the gorgeous interior and location. Staff is very friendly and the ladies room is wonderful. If you can get a performance or event here, you should jump on that opportunity.
The space itself isn’t humongous (what IS in Manhattan) but you will definitely have opportunities to converse with others & they have a tiny bar if you feel like getting a drink. It feels more like a Brooklyn venue with the cleanliness of Manhattan.

Great space for theatre in Chelsea. Recently saw two Irish plays which are on until the end of March 2012, Blood & Dancing at Lunacy (which I recommend highly). The space is inviting, high ceilings and the ambiance of a salon (white walls for instance) so a different feel than your traditional black box, small, off off Broadway theatre.

Last time I was at The Cell was for a one-​man performance on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 — – and yet I am still getting invitations from people I met for the first time that evening, while waiting for the show to start.
Part art gallery, part event space, part theatre, it seems as though several people involved at The Cell have pooled their eclectic mailing lists. Thus you are going to rub shoulders at the tiny bar, or in your row, with very interesting individuals.
Though the house is raked in a peculiar way, the interior is partially decorated with artworks that are for sale.
AMBIANCE: modern, pleasant but the very high ceilings and big windows can make it difficult to control the temperature
BAR: simple drinks, moderately priced
Bathrooms: clean, nice
