The Craft Studio

My daughter loves doing the drop off camps when she has no school. They make some adorable art projects and everyone who works there is so good with her! I love the toy store in the front because I am always able to find unique gifts.

I called the Craft Studio on a cold and rainy Saturday night when my daughter’s outdoor ice skating party for the next day was going to be cancelled by the rink for freezing rain weather. The manager, Eryck, put together a party for me within a matter of a 20 minute phone call… with all the bells and whistles that a six year old girl could dream for. The party itself was outstanding. The staff were so friendly and so engaging with all of the children… it was fun, high-​energy and my daughter felt like this was a dream! I am so grateful to Eryck for putting together a party for me when I told him about the cancellation on ice skating… he was smart, attentive and detail oriented towards my daughter’s birthday wishes and I couldn’t have imagined a better outcome. I have thrown five other parties in NYC for my daughter at gym places around the city and this party was by far THE BEST party I have ever hosted. My daughter and I have since returned for another six year old birthday party and that party too was so much fun and so well run that I can see that the Craft Studio is consistently excellent with customer service, birthday parties and with taking great care of our kids! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place for parties, playdates, snow day and mini camps when school is out!

I have been going to the Craft Studio for over 5 years. We go at least once a month. Over that time, the place has deteriorated. It used to be a great place with great staff. Lately, only one member of the staff, Hannah, is in any way pleasant or engaged with the children or even pays attention. Today I had to ask 3 staff members for something I needed. Hannah ultimately got it for me. The rest of the staff is rude. They also are very expensive and nickle and dime you. Customer service is non-​existent. They used to be the only choice. They no longer are and in the future we will go elsewhere.

LOVE the Craft Studio! We just had our daughter’s 4-​year-​old birthday party here and it was a smash. The space is kid heaven, full of bright colors and fun designs (like the giant «Party» sign in lights, for example). The staff is upbeat, gracious and knows their stuff. They were very patient in the weeks leading up to the party, when I asked them many questions and coordinated with them about the décor and activity details. They made our daughter feel very involved in the planning process that day and worked hard to personalize our Frozen party and make it special. I am certain we were not the first Elsa-​costumed birthday girl to cross their paths, but you wouldn’t have known that from the fuss they made to my beaming daughter. All the kids had a total blast, from the face painting at the beginning, the great music selections, the craft activities (coloring to warm up, followed by Frozen themed art canvases), the games (Limbo, Freeze Dance, Simon Says) and the rousing renditions of happy birthday. The staff members are all high energy and super efficient, plus not at all jaded. They really seemed to be having fun too. All the parents really enjoyed it as well, which is an accomplishment at a kids’ party. More than one parent remarked to me that they wish they had known about this place sooner. The parties are not cheap, but they are fair for what you can expect in Manhattan and do include basic paper goods, crafts for each kid to take home in a goodie bag with some candy, ice cream cake, and juice boxes/​water/​coffee. We supplemented with additional food/​drink, Frozen paper goods and décor and more favors for the kids to take home. What a magical day! My daughter already told me she wants to have her party there next year as well. I don’t think there is a higher endorsement than that.

I don’t think I’m supposed to review The Craft Studio because of my connection there, but I think this could be of value as I believe that how a store’s employees are treated, and how the employee’s respect the store, is a solid judgement of what kind of business it is– and having worked in the store for nearly 7 years I can tell you that The Craft Studio is the best of the best. It is magical and artsy and wonderful and trendy and feels like home at the same time!
Whether you need a crafty activity, the coolest toy, a party, or someplace to send the kids on a day off of school– this should be your go to spot on the upper east side.
Just watch the kids faces walking past the windows– it is truly a place of wonder and ART!

Primarily known for hosting kids’ craft-​related birthday parties. The staffers are nice to the kids and create a high-​energy environment that makes painting a ceramic penguin seem more interesting than it actually is. There are other kinds of projects, but ceramics seems to be the local fave.
You can also bring kids here for a quieter, one-​on-​one time. I think this would be an ideal activity for grandparents or favorite aunts to offer their creative little ones. You can round out the afternoon with a goody from the bakery next door.
The Craft Studio also has a retail section up front with reasonably priced toys and gifts. There a good selection, and they always seem to stock new and popular items.
I like that this small, local business always has great-​looking window displays and keeps the interior fresh and fun, but not over-​the-​top cute. My only concern is that costs can run high, but that just reflects the neighborhood.

This place is great! I have been here with an 8 year old girl 3 times over the past month! The first time we came in we decided to do some ceramic painting. They have a variety of ceramics to chose from, all at different prices. It is definitely affordable, the cheapest one is like $ 12.
Then we came here for a birthday party where she made an awesome little messenger bag. She loves it and carries it around everyday now.
The staff seems knowledgeable and helpful, it’s at a convenient location, and they have everything in this place. If you need a last minute bday gift for a kid, stop by. If you want to organize an awesome birthday party, this is the place!
I will definitely be frequenting her as often as possible! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I can’t believe no one has reviewed this place yet! This is a great lil’ neighborhood shop that caters to the upper east side’s youngsters. You can go in any time and paint various kinds of ceramic figurines and pottery — I painted a ceramic box of chocolates for my boyfriend on my 1^st trip in to channel my artsy and slightly corny gift giving side. It was fun for me as an adult! There was a birthday party going on while I was there, which I’ve heard it really the big draw to this cool place (really the décor is quite whimsical like Willy Wonka’s). The kids can all make crafts, sing songs and eat cake for a few hours for a fun party. There’s also a ton of toys and cool crafts that you can purchase and take home. It’s not easy to find a good toy store anymore! Everything is very reasonably priced for the city. If I ever have kids, I’ll definitely take them here :)
