The Discovery of King Tut

*at first, I was confused by the short exhibits in the front and thought that was everything, and then realized there was a short film to watch inside followed by an abundance of treasures to view. It was like a whole new world. I was both impressed and amazed.
*the family tree for King Tut really helped in explaining why King Tut was such an important figure in history. For his age, he did a lot for the pple of Egypt.
*I was also impressed with how much dedication, time, and effort was put into finding King Tut’s tombs. Then to see what they saw on exhibit… That was amazing.
*I absolutely loved this exhibition. I wish the gift shop had more variety and perhaps more jewelry to purchase.

Caution: the bookends of this exhibit really glorifies the white scientists who discovered the tomb. Silent are the stories of the multitudes of black and brown workers depicted in both film and photography. These «bookends» display a highly slanted view of history. It’s an aspect of storytelling I hoped had died in the 20^th century.
The actual exhibit itself is beautiful, awe inspiring, and informative. It’s fascinating to see the replicas of the tombs surrounded by smaller original artifacts which are encased in glass.
When taking school age children be careful to point out the racial equally depicted on the walls of the Pharaoh’s tomb with brown, black, tan, and white Egyptians given equal standing. What I saw were people who look very similar to modern day black Ethiopians, Arabs, and subsaharan Africans.
Best to purchase tickets on groupon which also include a free photo souvenir ticket. Best value.

Incredible job illustrating the findings of Tutankhamen’s tomb; I had no idea the level of dedication that went in to finding the tomb and the grandeur that was eventually discovered. The amount of work that went in to replicating everything must have been astounding.
I went with my family and it was a great experience for everyone. Definitely would recommend this to those who are looking for a different type of museum activity.

this was the next best thing to being in Egypt. The replicas are exact and I was totally immersed in the exhibit. I brought my 9 year old daughter and she had a great time. The audio tour was extremely helpful throughout the exhibit and thorough to get a knowledge of what you were looking at but just two to three minute vignettes. Not too long to give you time to gaze at it. WOW it was fabulous. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves art, art history, History, Egypt, or just plain GOLD I am still dazzled hours after I left. Tremendous experience.

Went to this «experience» with my girlfriend and I have to say that I was immersed in the history of the great but brief rule of King Tut. Some of the replica exhibits were amazing and everything was too scale. You always hear about the mystery behind how the Egyptians built such advanced creations but seeing this exhibit shows you the extend of their sophistication.
A lot of the exhibit is an audio tour and the sound was clear and very useful as I walked around to each section. The downstairs has a lot of the items that King Tut wore during his burial and the creators really did a good job replicating all of these items.
Definitely recommend it to the novice history buff, like me but if you are well versed in the history, may not be worth it.

I’m kicking myself — I went to the opening night party and didn’t even think to write a review til just now. Shame on me! Anyway, let’s get into it.
Much of this exhibit is an audio tour — fortunately the headsets fit well and featured clear sound. In the main level, it’s a very useful guide, as there’s a lot in front of you and it’s great to be walked through it all. The displays range from «huh, neat» to «WHOAAA». There is also a short documentary in a tiny theater on loop, which I could take or leave.
The real fun is downstairs, with all the replica artifacts. They also come with audio, but by that point it’s gotten a bit old and ultimately, these pieces speak for themselves.
All in all, a worthy trip for anyone with an interest in the subject, but it probably won’t blow the minds of those with no interest to begin with.

I thoroughly enjoyed going back in time and learning the history of the discovery of King Tuts tomb. The exhibit is all replica, but everything is to scale and I learned a lot! They have a cool video in the beginning thats about 10 minutes long, but introduces the history of searching for King Tuts tomb. Then you slowly discover the tomb similar to the way the explorers did! It is absolutely fascinating and mind boggling how much gold was buried with the King! Worth stopping by for sure!

Ugh, big disappointment. Went in with a $ 10 off coupon from a guy standing right outside the entrance. The displays are interesting, but it’s definitely not an «experience» in the sense they market it to be — I never once felt like I was inside the tomb.
The recreations seemed to be really accurate (comparing them to photos) and it was interesting to see scale models. However, nothing really piqued my interest or captured my awe like I expected it to; something is just «missing» from this exhibit.
I am really interested in the whole story, an wish the exhibit had gone more into the «curse» that followed!

I took my dad here Saturday afternoon and I must say it was pretty cool! I really love King Tut and Ancient Egyptian history so I might be a little bias. We enjoyed the visit to this unique, one of a kind exhibition All of the artifacts are re-​creations in the exact way they were found in his tomb back in the 20s. It is truly a site to see and I recommend it for any fan of Ancient Egypt/​King Tut, as well as the curious! It’s museum-​like without being too «museum-​y»
