The Gym at Judson

What a great space! I saw «Women of Will» here, my first play since moving here in January, and I loved it! In other reviews I see this qualifies as an ‘off Broadway’ location. I’d say off off Broadway. But, I’m new here. Still, the space was intimate and there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. The lighting was professional, the actors were great, and I left feeling smarter. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this venue in the future.

Saw «Women of Will» at this off Broadway theater. The whole setup of the place made me feel comfortable and involved in the representation. I loved both actors’ interpretations (Tina Packer and Nigel Gore), as well as the educational aspect of the show.

This is a great, intimate venue right by Washington Square Park, so off the beaten path of the Theater District.
i don’t know if different productions set the stage/​chairs differently, but for the performance I saw here there was no stage, just an ornate rug in the center of the floor, a line of couch cushions for seating around the rug, and tiered seating (chairs w/​backs) on 3 sides of the stage. It felt like we were a part of the performance, which to some may be a little too intimate, but for this performance it really brought the entertainment to life.
This meant that every seat had a good view and you didn’t have to worry too much about people in front of you with large heads/​hats blocking your line of sight. This seems like a great theater for more casual or slightly interactive performances.

This is an off-​Broadway theater that seats up to 200, located in the lower level of Judson Memorial Church.
The theater is fairly small and intimate, so every seat is pretty good. The seats are like the stacking chairs you usually find at conferences.
What I really like about the Gym at Judson are the productions. I recently saw PigPen’s The Old Man and the Old Moon there, and it was one of my favorite theatrical experiences yet. I highly encourage you to check them out!
