The Little Lebowski Shop

Jeremiah’s Vanishing NY published the sad news that this place is indeed vanishing this month, so I had to pay a visit. I feel like I was maybe already catching a shell of its former glory — but I’m still glad to have at least stepped inside before it’s fully gone. Little gems like this are the lifeblood of NYC, and especially the Village, and it’s always sad to see them go. Mad respect for the Little Lebowski. I’ll miss seeing your «Dude» on the sidewalk during nightly dog walks.

L.O.V.E. THAT MOVIE … LOVE that someone LOVES IT MORE! … Enough to build a shop, a Mecca– if you will, to pay tribute and get Kitch!
AH! NYC! Always some little space to blow one’s mind! From the bowling lane to the blow-​up doll in the fly-​harness — a true gem!
I laughed @ the I-​N-​O sign, and learned, to my dismay, the proprietor has never eaten there… He has to settle for Shake Shack burgers, poor guy!
My daughter heard about this Treasure Chest of B.L.from a podcast… GREAT FIND!
Anyone who LOVES B.L. MUST find this place. They need the business… And B.L. Needs to be forever … ABIDED! … ABODE?
… Now, if only they had that rug, it would tie the WHOLE room together. … Man.

Hay que pasar por el simple hecho de que es la única tienda especializada en el tema :) No tienen mucho pero van renovando material y también se consiguen otras cositas interesantes.

The dude abides !!! This place is my new shrine I saw it by accident and almost fell over from excitement! If you’ve never seen the movie big lebowski something is wrong with you and you must see it and then visit the greatest shop on earth!

This sounds more like a great idea for a popup shop than a sustainable idea for a permanent storefront, but alas the dude survives for 4+ years.

Specifically went out of my way to pop in, place is 95% tee shirts, mixed between guardians of the galaxy and big lebowski… a few autographed prints and some bumper stickers also available. I have a bigger variety of Lebowski stuff in my own home…

Pretty fun and quirky. I’m not a huge fan of the Big Lebowski, but the shop was fun to browse nonetheless — the stuff they have in stock ranges from super interesting to all out weird. Life sized cut-​outs, tshirts, you name the inside joke, they’ve got it.
Not much else I can say since I’m not a huge fan of the movie, but definitely worth checking out for the Lebowski fan!

This is a store dedicated to The Big Lebowski. Anything gripey, nit picky, complaining or less than 5 stars, ect and eff you. As in, this aggression will not stand man.
Also, yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

Great customer service. You wouldn’t even know you were in New York… Nice little shop to pick up Lebowski gifts for friends and find some other cool trinkets from other cult films.

Oh, how I wanted to love this place. I really did.
I’m a huge Big Lebowski fan. The movie is a goddamn masterpiece, and one of the greatest comedies of our generation. Naturally, when I heard there was a store devoted to this movie, I had to go.
It’s tiny, disorganized, and weirdly-​decorated. Apparently, The Dude himself has visited.
They had official sunglasses and some cool figurines. Numerous shirts.
That’s where it ended. For a store that claims to pay homage to an amazing movie, they were certainly short on stuff. I mean… no prices on anything, and not a single bumper sticker?!
Come on. Do better, Little Lebowski. I mean, at least get a rug to tie the room together, or something.

I happened to see this place on a map from my phone when I was looking for the location of another business nearby. Such a cool store. I’ve only seen the movie once or twice. I am not one of those people whose knows this movie by heart and I was still very impressed.
They have all sorts of memorabilia. There was a little section of t-​shirts that didn’t necessarily have anything from the movie on them, but one of the owners was telling me how a local artist makes these «trippy» t-​shirts that go along with the theme. I ended up buying a cool Tee with a cat on it. We talked a while and he was telling me the story of how he got his cat. Of course, this guy became even more awesome because I love cats.
Super friendly owner (s), unique store, I definitely want to keep supporting this place. He is also trying to make a cool film so go support this shop!!!

Finally made it into this adorably awesome store. They have tons of t-​shirts and lots of cool memorabilia and fan art stuff. The two guys working when I went in (the owner was one, I’m sure) were so nice and thanked us for coming in. I bought a shirt, not cheap at $ 27 but I have to support the fact that they’re even able to keep this place open in such a bustling neighborhood. If you think that’s unfair, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

If you need a tee for that Lebowski lover in yo life, you got to come here. Tees are pricey at $ 27, but you are paying for the convenience of being too lazy to order a shirt online in advance of your friends bday. This shop is cute with a lot of tee shirt options and a few other Lebowski novelty items. Salesman was nice and I enjoyed our conversation about how The Man (Congress) was lazy and trying to keep us down. The Dude Abides!!!

Ummm seriously, how cool is this store?
If you ever wanted a Lebowski puzzle, tshirt, coffee mug, playing cards, or some great photos with cardboard cut-​outs, this is the store for you.
The store owner is a really chill guy, even has a note framed that some random chick wrote him about how dope the store was.
Bonus points for the mini-​bowling alley in the back. And for the cute kitten.

Heard about this place from the gutterballs (dot)tv podcast. No Lebowski fan should leave New York City without a stop here!
Nice selection of Lebowski catch-​phrase shirts and other quirky things. Do you need a rug that really ties the room together? How about a framed photograph of the Dude? A bathrobe? The Little Lebowski is the place to go!
Make the experience complete by posing as The Jesus in the cardboard cutout before you leave…

If I may paraphrase the wise Yan: «You’ve made a legitimate cult movie if someone is able to create a store dedicated to it.»
T-​shirts. Cut-​outs. Playing cards. Quotes pasted upon the walls. A small bowling alley. Video clips of Jesus Quintana whirling his bowlling ball around his crotch in an overtly sexual manner.
DUDE. I abide.

This place is utterly amazing. The entire concept behind it. Obviously I say this because the Big Lebowski is not only my favorite movie, it’s also somewhat of a lifestyle for me.
Last time I was in New York for a long weekend, I made checking this place out a priority. Lebowski fanatics such as myself are largely an odd bunch with a very offbeat sense of humor so to come across an actual brick and mortar location that sells nothing but Lebowski paraphernalia is a treasure. And the fact that the dude who owns it wears a bathrobe??? It’s just so perfect and appropriate and I salute him for making the idea a reality.
I spent $ 45 or $ 50 on the jigsaw puzzle, some bumper stickers, a tshirt, etc but the real fun was just hanging out in there and having fun with the photo ops.
If I still lived in New York I’d be creepily loitering around here all the time.

Talk about marketing to niche clientele!
We were sauntering aimlessly when we decided to take a detour on Thompson for no particular reason. You know how they say that there are no such things as a coincidence, then how is it possible that 2 of the biggest «The Big Lebowski» fans encounter a store called The Little Lebowski?
From plastic pinky toes, to bowling shirts and costumes to even a rug that really tied the room together, this store has everything that a Lebowski fan could want or need.
I understand that it used to be a t-​shirt/​comic book store that was close to being shuttered when the owner recognized that their consistent biggest seller was a Lebowski t-​shirt. That, combined with the desire to wear a bathrobe to work, generated the transition to The Little Lebowski.
Now if they would only get their liquor license so they could serve «Caucasians» then the place would be 5+!

The Little Lebowski Abides.
Seriously, you need a toe, you can get that here? OK, maybe not but you can certainly get a Lebowski-​inspired t-shirt…The Dude who owns this place is my hero. I asked him how he came up with the idea for the store, he replied, «I just wanted to hang out in my bathrobe all day.» Does this guy know how to party or what?
All I know is that Walter Sobchek’s buddies died face down in the mud for this guy’s right to sell merchandise in his bathrobe, and I love what he has to sell. From bumperstickers that commend Maude’s artwork for being extremely vaginal, to not rolling on Shabbos and The Jesus montage… this place is like a living inside joke monument to Lebowski fans everywhere.
My one star deduction? I went to Lebowski Fest back in August, and there were a bunch of people wearing Larry’s homework on a white t-​shirt. Um, hi, I’d like that please. The Owner Dude told me it was DISCONTINUED! QUELLE HORREUR! Walter would have taken out his firearm and told him he was about to enter a world of pain. Alas, I am not Walter, so I’ll get over it… I hope.

Lots of Lebowski gear. They guy running the store is dressed like the dude. And they have the movie playing on continuous loop. Oddly enough, they were also selling a few Star Wars trinkets. Is there some connection between the two movies I’m not aware of?
What more could you ask for? This: I asked them if they wrote fan fiction. They said no. They leave the writing up to the Coen brothers.
