The Museum of American Finance, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is the nation’s only independent public museum dedicated to celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship and the democratic free market tradition which have made New York City the financial capital of the world.

The Museum offers four permanent interactive exhibits: The Financial Markets, Money: A History, Banking in America and Entrepreneurs. It also has a period room devoted Alexander Hamilton, as well as a gallery for temporary exhibits, a theater, an auditorium and a gift shop. Current shows include «Tracking the Credit Crisis: A Timeline» and «Women of Wall Street» (through January 16, 2010).
