The New York Center For Travel and Tropical Medicine

Very professional service. We are preparing for a trip to India and our consultation was unhurried and very informative. Lauren, our consultant/​nurse, advised us on our options on what we should do and what we could opt out on if we so desired. In addition to our in-​office inoculations and prescriptions (she sent them directly to our pharmacy via email), she also advised us on what brand of insect repellent to purchase and how to use it (deet is pretty toxic stuff). A great experience overall. (Great offices, too!).

I never write reviews and I just had to do one for this place. I am taking a trip to Brazil and (stupidly) thought of the vaccination part of things only about 5 days before leaving. I ended up going to New York Center For Travel & Tropical Medicine due to the other reviews on Unilocal.I called in the morning and was able to have an appointment at 2:00PM that day.
Once I arrived, I had a great experience (and I really hate going to the doctor). The nurse I had was fantastic. I believe her name was Chantelle. She was knowledgeable, intelligent, funny, and was very patient as I asked her a variety of questions. She really was amazing. I also have some issues with getting needle sticks and passing out and I told her about it. She immediately put me at ease and did everything she could to make me more comfortable. She got me a bottle of water and asked how I usually do best getting shots. As for the actual injections, didn’t even feel them. She knew how to make them easy! Overall, a great experience. I highly recommend this place!

Decided to go with this place, thanks to reviews on Unilocal,and after calling and finding that price quotes on shots were lower than some other places.
Judy, who administered the shots, was awesome. She was funny, very knowledgeable and informative, and very gentle (as a self-​proclaimed chicken herself, she knew how to make it a very quick and painless process.)
Sue, who took care of our paperwork, was also really nice.
The building is also really beautiful and full of amazing architectural details.

Based on my experience, I cannot imagine how this place could get anything but 5 stars. Everyone was incredibly warm and competent. This is the right place to go for travel medicine. Don’t give it another thought! Judy, who administered my shots, was patient, experienced, compassionate, competent, excellent, excellent, excellent, extremely knowledgeable. They make it painless, pleasant, and informative. I am taking a trip to Southeast Asia and she went over the whys and why nots of every possible shot I could possibly need. I feel so set for my trip. I have total peace of mind!!!

Found this place on Lonely Planet’s forums saying they were one of the more affordable travel vaccination places in the city. I didn’t comparison shop too much but they seemed reasonable. However will vouch for that they’re very nice, super informative, was easy to get in/​fast, and they’re located in one of the nicest Doctor’s offices I’ve ever seen (in an old historical landmark brownstone).

Great place! I had trouble finding a place for travel vaccinations in NYC, then I found New York Center For Travel & Tropical Medicine.
Going on a big trip. Called on a Friday morning and was getting the shots by 10:30AM the same day.
Not cheap, but wait until you see the marble staircase! Judy the RN knows her stuff, great place.
