The Performers

Loves this show Starring Henry Winkler, Alicia Silverstone and Cheyenne Jackson.

This show was hilarious – we saw it last night and we laughed through the entire play. The humor is crude and full of innuendo and this is WAY more fun than anything else I’ve seen on Broadway. A romantic comedy about the porn industry? Why not!
Ari Graynor is my new favorite thing – she’s amazing. Great cast and lots of energy. It’s nice to see something different get a shot at the big time.
Heard that it’s closing which seems nuts – the audience was loving it (including the elderly Upper-​East-​Sider looking couple next to us and some out-​of –owners from Texas behind us.)
See it before it closes so you can say you «saw it when.»

While waiting in line at the half price ticket counter in Times Square, one of the TKTS workers was informing everyone of the availability of tickets. When he told us about the Performers, and how Alicia Silverstone and Henry Winkler were staring it in, I thought it was odd that a play with such high profile actors would be at the half price counter. He explained that the show was still in its soft opening and that no one has really written any reviews on it yet, but that it was sure to be a success. I loved Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and the fact that this non traditional play storyline is based upon the Adult Entertainment Industry, it definitely seemed way more interesting than any of the other available tickets so decided to take a chance on it.
The play follows the lives of 2 former classmates who took very different paths in life. One becoming an adult video star, while the other is a newspaper reporter. What unfolds next is truly a comedic tale for the ages. I sincerely don’t think Ive ever laughed so hard at a Broadway play. The other actors, Cheyenne Jackson and Ari Graynor however in my opinion steal the show from the headliners of this play. Ari should win a Tony award for her performance.
I don’t want to go into more detail, because this isnt meant to be a summary, however I will say that this is by far the best comedy I have ever seen performed live and that I high recommend it for anyone in the 20 – 40 age range. The subject matter is probably too inappropriate for younger, older or prudish audiences!

Today I saw The Performers with a friend and we had a blast! We laughed out loud the entire time. The humor was crude, and and the actors were hysterical. The performances Alicia Silverstone and Henry Winkler gave, made me think of Cher and Fonzie in a new light. They were fabulous! The rest of the cast was also amazing and extremely talented.
I feel like this play will definitely take off. Maybe its not the best one to take you parents to when they visit NYC, but if you are in the mood for a big laugh and a comedy about porn, The Performers needs to be the next show on you agenda.

My company gave us vouchers for 2 complimentary tickets to see The Performers so I decided to invite my mom out with me but I had no idea what we were in store for. The entire cast did so well and who ever dreamed I would just feet away from Fonzie!!! AYYYYYEEE. That was a truly Happy Day (lol, corny of me, I know).
I do not want to give much of the plot away because that would defeat the purpose of you all going. I definitely recommend this play for an adult audience who can enjoy adult humor about adult film stars, love, romance and all that funny stuff! Go see it, it is absolutely worth the 90 minutes!

We went to see «The Performers» last night, still in previews, and let me recommend to you now GO GET YOUR TICKETS this play is going to be a hit. Imagine an R-​rated version of The Producers, and you can get a feel for what are in store for. The cast, pacing, and writing of this play are simply terrific. Alicia Silverstone as the frumpy English teacher and Henry Winkler as the aging porn star are solid, but Cheyenne Jackson and Ari Graynor, as the married couple who work in the porn industry are fantastic. I think Graynor should get a Tony nomination for her performance, its fabulous. Daniel Breaker is good, and Jenni Barber as the «ditzy blonde foil» is well cast. I think we laughed for almost the entire 90 minutes, its a «must see».
