The Plein Air Painting School

I have painted with Danielle several times over the summer and I can’t wait for the next workshop. It is an absolute pleasure to paint with her. I started off as someone that had never painted before and I now have people willing to pay for my paintings! Its really amazing what a difference good instruction can make. She provides an extraordinary amount of personal attention to each painter but also lets you use your own creative approaches or techniques if you like.
Every session is well organized and stress-​free, all materials are provided if needed and the locations are carefully chosen based on the skill level of the class. Classes are also very affordable.
You definitely will get the feeling that Danielle is doing this more for her love of painting and sharing her talent rather than the money.
I can’t recommend her enough — head and shoulders above any of the other classes I have taken in the city.

I had such a wonderful day with Danielle and her Plein Air painting school. I took the «never ever» workshop on a gorgeous day in central park. To be fair, I do have an art degree and painting experience, but just not with oil paint, so I figured it would be a good idea to start from scratch. Danielle and the small group of other artists were so friendly and it was just such an enjoyable experience. Danielle takes time to work with every student there to give constructive criticism and pointers in regard to composition and technique. She also provides great step by step instruction. I am really looking forward to my next workshop. I hope the classes don’t become too crowded now!

I enjoyed the cherry bolossom class at central park, plein air painting school is a true gem. I have always wanted to paint outdoors but never really knew how to start. Danielle engages her students with a step-​by-​step painting approach. She teaches how to analyze the subject, understand the light, and apply the techniqeus. Her instructions are easy – to-​understand and she offers a lot of explanation and guidance throughout each stage of the painting. The level of the students varied but everyone received an equal amount of help and had beautiful paintings to take home. If you aspire to paint, make time to experience this wonderful workshop.

Just finished my third one-​day workshop in Central Park with Danielle and hope to sign up for many more when she resumes teaching in the spring. She provides everything you need – including paint, easel, canvas, instruction and encouragement – to get started painting plein air landscapes, and bring home something you can be proud of. The day flies by! And I’m already seeing the world with new eyes thanks to what I learned.

I love painting with Danielle! I just spent all day in Central park painting beautiful trees and I can’t believe how good my painting turned out. I would recommend Danielle’s classes to anyone, even if you have never painted before. She’ll walk you through it and help you see the colors, tones, and lines.

What an amazing experience! I just came back from my very first workshop with Danielle today. Our class was held at Central Park by «The Pool» in the Upper West Side. The scenery consists of some willow trees as the foreground, a pond as the middle ground and some buildings in the background. I learned from Danielle that a great picture needed all these three elements. Danielle came prepared with everything you could possible need to get started. Danielle loves what she does and will go out of her way to explain the different elements of oil painting. She was very attentive and pleasant to learn from. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and came away with a painting I can actually hang in my living room!

I attended Danielle’s workshop yesterday at the battery park. This was my first workshop with her, and I must say that I am looking forward to many more. Danielle’s method of teaching is very easy to understand, and she pays attention to each participant and is always by your side when you need her, which is great for novice painters like me. She also stayed behind after the workshop to allow me give those finishing touches to my painting. It was fun to carry the painting back and get compliments from strangers in the subway! :)

Ever since I can remember, I didn’t consider myself artistic. My high school art teacher didn’t help matters. However, Danielle’s patient instruction and perfect balance of theory and practice have helped me create five works of art. I have learned a lot and have unlocked my creativity. The classes are fun, collegial, and relaxing. My aunt and I take lessons together, and it’s been great bonding. It’s also been enjoyable to paint with friends. What are you waiting for? Paint!

There are a lot of artists in New York, but not many of them can teach. Danielle’s way of teaching is through demo and repetition. She is in front of the group with her easel showing how to paint step-​by-​step and then she helps each student individually to overcome difficulties.
Additionally to her teaching talent she has wonderful personality — outgoing and charismatic — and she is also very pretty woman.
To spend a day in Central Park painting with her group is more fun than you can imagine and her prices are very reasonable.

Danielle is such a dedicated and motivating instructor. You will absolutely appreciate every moment you spend learning how to paint. She really knows how to get a painting out of someone who has never painted before. Awesome experience!!!
