Description

Specialties

Eating doesn’t get easier, or healthier, than at The Pump. We take all the care mom did, and then some. Only whole, unprocessed ingredients and the freshest produce make the cut at our restaurants, and nothing is fried, cooked with butter, cream, mayo or other unhealthy fats. Fresh-squeezed juices, energy shakes, sandwiches, Super-charged plates and more, everything here is fresh, flavorful and guilt-free.

History

Established in 1997.

The Pump was founded in 1997 by Steve & Elena Kapelonis, long-time healthy eaters with a family legacy in the restaurant business. They wanted to set their restaurant apart by serving good, clean, healthful food.

Over the next few years, The Pump grew to several locations in Manhattan, broadening its reach. The stores were cramped, but attracted a loyal following of guests who ordered frequently — often several times a day.

In 2006, Adam Eskin, a Pump fanatic, led a group of investors to buy a majority stake in the company, believing that the taste of the food and the benefits of the food had a much broader appeal than just the «gym set.» He was right. Now people are becoming more interested in what they eat, its affect on their health and how they felt physically — something The Pump has been preaching for more than a decade.
