I wouldn’t eat here. They have a new location at 30 Ave Station on the N line in Astoria, and just half an hour ago I saw one of the two workers from the truck smoking right in front of the ordering counter. He is wearing a white apron and blue shirt and chatting with the cook — definitely NOT placing an order.

I like the fries, it’s WITHOUT A DOUBT worth the walk outside to pick up the small box of them for 3 instead of buying a tiny thing of fries for 2.70 or something in school. That’s why we have 3 stars here. It would’ve been a 1 if I only rated the chicken over rice. Everything about the meal gives me these 2 feelings: 1) they have it because they know how popular it is with kids. Every bite I took, I was thinking, «do they even WANT to serve this? I can taste the regret in every bite» 2) they wanted to try and taste like what tony the dragon’s cart on 62nd tastes like. Unfortunately, it falls flat and comes out bland and lifeless, like a song on an album that the band throws in just to fill a slot(which happens more than you think!). So, I’m giving it a neutral 3, because I don’t think I’ve tried enough of their menu to give them a 2.

I cannot even begin to describe how badly I want a lamb over rice combo right now. The food truck is located right outside of the hunter west building. For $ 7 you get a nice hot order of yellow long grain rice with shaved gyro lamb and a mixed salad with your choice of hot sauce, bbq sauce, or tahini(white sauce). The guys are so quick with everyone’s orders not to mention always precise ! They’re pretty friendly too and give generous portions of meat :) Drinks are all $ 2. Will definitely try some other orders here throughout my next four years in college

I used to go to Hunter and this was my go to place to eat. At the time I was living in Brooklyn and I would often make my way to this truck to order food even if I didn’t have class that day(used to love my unlimited metro card, I definitely got my money’s worth back when it was $ 89). Anywho, the best thing to get from this truck is the chicken. Get it in a gyro or over rice. It’s amazing. It’s not the usual chicken that you get from halal carts that’s mixed with onions and smothered in grease. This chicken is expertly grilled and it’s the kind you’d get atop a salad if you ordered it from a fancy restaurant. I can’t even count the number of times that I ordered«chicken over rice with white sauce, no salad» from this place. If I could guess it would have to be well over 100 times. And the food is consistently delicious. I now live in NJ and I’ve driven to the UES twice for the sole purpose of getting my beloved chicken over rice. It’s that good.

Visited with my two kids for a few days in the city. This place would be our last lunch together before I had to fly back home. My daughter got her favorite: chicken fingers with fries. My son got a Philly Cheesesteak(with peppers and onions) while I ordered a lamb gyro. My son was the first to receive his food and he immediately went to work putting it away. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her fingers and fries(with lots of ketchup) but could not finish it. I really liked the gyro with all the typical fixings /toppings. Since my son finished his Philly first, I gave him a bite of my wrap. After my wrap was gone, my son and I polished off what was left of my daughter’s order(which was about half). At first my daughter protested that said she wanted to take her leftovers home(as in to my ex mother in laws fridge) but I calmly explained that her grandmother would promptly toss it in the trash on sight. My son concurred and we went to work. My daughter helped polish off the fries. If the weather is conducive to eating outdoors, this is one of the better food choices on the Upper East Side(with respect to quantity and quality for a relative to low price [$ 7 — $ 10]). The owner /operator is very entertaining with his affectations /schtick.

My usual go to cart packed around Hunter College. These guys are very nice and their food is great! not to mention very affordable considering lunch anywhere else in this location(UES) I recommend their chicken Shish kabobs, grilled chicken and gyros bc its what i usually order from them and its always fresh and delicious.(oh trust me get it with all three sauces spicy, bbq and lemon). They also serve many things like burgers, philly cheese steak, wings, fries ext… friendly fast service everytime i go… or maybe they treat me this way because i’m pretty haha jk =)

Located right outside of Hunter College resides the Roadside grill. They offer your standard chicken/beef/lamb over rice or salad as well as shish kabobs, meatball parm sandwich, cheese fries. It’s a convenient option when I’m running late for class and want a quick bite to go. Prices are reasonable. A decent option for lunch when you’re in a rush.

This truck is parked in front of Hunter West all five weekdays, from the early morning to night. A good portion of the student body from Hunter and several workers from the nearby businesses all come here to get their halal fix, although they also serve hamburgers, gyros, french fries and the like. Their lamb over rice is made with a good portion of shaved, crispy gyro meat, placed over a bed of yellow, long grain rice and a small salad(which can be better) and placed in round, aluminium container. All of this will set you back $ 7. I was not impressed with their chicken and falafel variants, as they were respectively tasteless and fried to a crisp. Some choices are great to munch on once in a while but with the price they are offering, you are better off ordering somewhere else.
