Imagine if your came up to you one day and said
«I’m going to stop walking from now on. I don’t see the point when YOU can just drive me anywhere!» You’d probably be just a LITTLE worried right? — Well little Johnny is still walking but in school he’s definitely not working out his ‘MATH Muscles’. You see LOTS of kids are learning that not being able to do basic math like addition and subtraction is ‘OK’ because you can just use a calculator! So lots of kids (Maybe even YOUR kids) never develop the CORE math skills they need to learn harder math. They use a calculator and get the answer the teachers want, but don’t really understand or master it. Then later, sometimes YEARS later they’re sitting in class listening to the teacher talk about Algebra or Geometry or Calculus (the horror!!) and realize they can’t do it because they’re still spending all their time and energy trying to make sure they can add 2 and 2 and get 4. Find out how SOROBAN can change all of that !
History
Established in 1977.
Hailing from the land of the rising sun, Sato Sensei immigrated to NY in 1965 and began the (sometimes) arduous task of raising 2 boys. She knew in her heart that she wanted them to be truely happy in their lives, but in the mean time that they had to learn MATH! Dissatisfied with the math curriculum in schools, she began teaching them the way she had learned in her youth. Starting with her first son, she taught him SOROBAN to get his grades up and was so successful (he later became an accountant) that she repeated the process with her second son as well. Thus The Soroban School was born. Since then she’s helped thousands of students do better in school and achieve their dreams of becoming Doctors, Lawyers, CEO’s and even Math Teachers.
Meet the Manager
Tom S.
Manager
Hi there, I’m a teacher at The Soroban School and a former student.
I’ve been part of this program for over 20 years and I’m looking forward to meeting you soon. :)
If you’ve read the history of our school, I’m actually one of Sato sensei’s kids. (Lucky number 3)
