Top of the Garden Event Space

I went to an event in the indoor space. It’s a decent size though oddly shaped. The bathrooms were nice overall I though it was a decent even space. The view is of the top of MSG which really isn’t anything special. The one downer was the elevator. They’re small and most the floors are occupied so they were crammed and it was a slow trip to the top.

I came here with a good friend of mine to an Elite Unilocal activitiy. I love my +1s especially that night.
The building is mixed use so on the way up the space you will most likely share your air bubble with some musicans who could possibily be transported from the 60s (if you get my meaning).
The event had 2 bars where drinks were served and lovely views of Madison Square Garden.
The location is close to transportation but there is almost no parking in this area so word to the wise leave the 4 wheels horses at home resting.

We did a fashion show at Top of the Garden this season, which was amazing. Victoria our representative for the venue ensured any questions via phone or email were answered promptly. We had a few glitches but Victoria & Ashley assisted with smiles. The venue is an open space with tones of possibilities. I have and would recommend this venue to anyone that inquires.

I have now hosted three events at this location and it is fantastic. The space allows you to transform it into anything you want and who doesn’t love a rooftop terrace in New York City. If you are looking for a great space with friendly staff and conveniently located next to Penn Station then this is the place for you.

This is a great space for fashion events, namely small fashion shows or presentations. I produced two fashion shows for a VERY high-​profile womenswear designer last summer and in the fall, and the venue could not have been more perfect, or the staff more accommodating of our needs. This is a full-​service location, meaning they can provide rentals, lighting, sound and simple scenic elements for a very affordable cost, and are willing to provide staff to do the set up in order to make the event planning process smooth.
Both Ashley and Victoria are friendly, helpful, fun to work with and quick to communicate, leaving no question unanswered or any request unfulfilled.
The space itself is very well-​kept, clean and bright, as well as centrally-​located in the fashion district.
I highly recommend this space, if you do decide to hold your event here you will get your needs met and leave happy.

Very good space. The view is very good and the white color decoration is very beautiful. A lot of people who attended the party told me this place is great. It owns all the amenities you need for holding a party, the coat check space, the projections, the pin-​spot lights…
It really is a nice place for party, social event, corporate event… I highly recommend it.

Ok, so this place has good and bad aspects. The space is very clean and quite roomy, with nice wood floors. At night, the lights from adjacent buildings and sky scrapers look really cool through the windows of the main space. But like other people have said, the view of the top of Madison Square Garden in the daytime isn’t much to look at. Same goes for the rooftop deck — not much of a view at all and the white fence is really «meh». This venue boasts it has a «view» of the Empire State building, but honestly, many people don’t even realize the Empire State is there, because it is only viewable from a back corner of the terrace. Furthermore, the venue needs to do a better job of keeping up the deck. Overtime, the paint on the deck has chipped to reveal decaying wood in parts. In other places, the white paint has become dirty, and the fence is leaning slightly inward. That doesn’t look very good. You can also see where graffiti has been scrubbed off the exposed brick wall.
The office staff and on-​site management at ToTG are AMAZING and a pleasure to deal with and I cannot recommend them enough. I wish I could say the same about the owner, Ashley, though — she seems too pushy a saleswoman (and not in the good kind of «aggressive» way that works), and if you refuse to purchase the overpriced «lighting» plans, her tone seems to change entirely. There’s a filtered review below where a person claims that the ToTG’s owner possibly made class and status assumptions about her wedding planner, and was very rude. Indeed, the owner does seem to operate with class/​money concerns, and become suddenly disengaged and extremely short if you don’t spend $ 3500 or more on a «lighting package». Her attitude shifts from normal, polite and even excited to dismissive and rude.
Also, the space in person looks better than decent but it is not a good space at all for pictures, if you care about that for your special occasions. I notice that they don’t have many «true» photos of their space on their webiste (example: their photo of the terrace is taken with a fish lens and from a high angle, and other photos also appear professionally doctored), and this is likely because the space just doesn’t show up well in photos and so doctoring is necessary. The exposed pipes around the loft look really ugly in photos and the white space also shows up looking very… blank. The lighting packages, with their textures and patterns and ambience, would do well in cover up these flaws — but then again, they are insanely expensive.
To leave on a positive note, I really love the beautiful, cool round chandelier in the terrace entrance. It looks amazing at night and, in conjunction with the surrounding buildings, lights up the terrace nicely.

I didn’t quite get it at first.
I didn’t see a garden in the building (although I could smell what the music students may be growing, then drying, then burning… or just burning).
I didn’t see a garden when I reached the top floor.
I didn’t see a garden when I went to the roof.

And indeed, we did have a view of the top of Madison Square Garden, but since it’s a covered arena, there really wasn’t much to look at. The 16^th floor in this area didn’t provide much of a view either, in any direction. Regardless, I still like this L-​shaped space with its wood floors, exposed pipes, track lighting, and all-​white walls and ceiling. It permits a lot of freedom to get creative for your event. The sound system wasn’t bad either. Love the rooftop access, although again, there wasn’t much of a view.
The building is old, which is great! Love it! But that also means the elevators are old… and slow. And being a heavily used building, it can take a while to get an elevator and they’re always crowded.

Came here for an event and it was pretty nice! You wouldn’t expect it to be based on its hidden type of location, but it is.
Pros-​can fit about 150 people and has several mini bars. Walk up a short flight of stairs to see the rooftop mini view.
Cons-​not much of a breathtaking view to see, and only 7 people fit into the elevator at a time.

Been in the business of special events for 10 years and enjoyed meeting the owner, Ashley. The space is great in terms of layout, amenities (roof deck, lighting, sound systems, furniture), views and accessibility. Ashley was helpful in giving the specs and even had floorplans on hand.
I highly recommend this space for corporate or social events as finding a space that is easy to get to for out of out-​of-​towners.
