Trece Mexican Cuisine & Tequila Bar

Came in here this past Thursday looking for some good food and drinks. It was quiet and clean inside and the hostess quickly seated us. The staff was very attentive and friendly and a man who seemed to be the manager stopped at our table to make sure we were pleased. The guacamole was delicious! The drinks were nice and strong. I asked the waiter for the Fajita combo without the tortilla bread and rice (low carb) and although he seemed puzzled and asked me several times to make sure I NOT want those things he modified my order as asked and made sure cheese was added and that was also delicious. I def want to come here again. There seems to be a karaōke section in the basement of the place that offers shots.

I’ve been here many times as I live in the neighborhood and this is the best Mexican I have had in New York and the best guacamole I’ve eaten outside of Mexico. They have a grilled mango guacamole that is outstanding. I’ve had most of the different items on their menu and everything is delicious, especially the fajitas. Also, the drinks are very strong and reasonably priced.
The service is also amazing — Angelo is a fabulous waiter, and the manager, Jose, is wonderful. He always checks in with the tables to make sure people are enjoying their experience. I came on my birthday and he gave both me and my boyfriend tequila shots and sangria on the house!

This is absolutely my go-​to spot for Mexican food and has become the first choice of my friends I have taken as well. Highly recommend!

I ordered the vegetable FAJITAS as my main course and was disappointed there was so much broccoli in it… I wanted more pepper and onions… I’ve never had fajitas with broccoli so I think that was a little strange!
The atmosphere was lovely and romantic (especially the fairy lights). The waiters were super friendly, and the manager let us have 10% off because we checked in with Unilocal… I’m a happy dinner :)

Nice ambience it was quiet when we came. Curious how the place would be during the karaōke hour.
We ordered the guacamole and chips and the paella. It was seasoned Ok, but, I believe it was over priced for the serving.

Very mediocre food-​my quesadilla was not light and crispy-​and salad was like from a week ago. The service was spotty-​first they are all over you, then to get the check, no matter how many times asked, I had to go up to the register and pay.
With all the eateries in that area, keep walkin’!

This place has such great food and margaritas! The service is awesome, too. Will definitely come back when I visit the city!

Honestly, if you dont know where to find it, you will walk right past this hole in the wall gem that makes true mouth watering food that will not just fill you but SATISFY you. I had the «Pollo Borracho» (Half Chicken in Mexican Beer). Wife had the «Churrasco» (Skirt Steak).
If you love Mexican food you will love this authentic hole in the wall with a beautiful bar and gourgeous people.

Me and my sister just ate here and the food looked so delicious but we were both disappointed it was horrible. I think the worst mexican food we’ve ever ate!!! Oh and I did forget to mention the complimentary chips and salsa you are typically given were invisible! So if you are in the mood for such magic then visit otherwise stay far away. I wouldn’t even eat this food with my worst enemy’s mouth.

The service at the bar was mediocre. And the food EVEN more so. Stale tacos that left a bad taste in my mouth and uninspiring low rate quesadillas… $ 15 for each plate and no sides. No rice. No beans. And don’t expect any complementary chips and salsa with your meal at his Mexican restaurant either.

really chill dinner date here with my bae. Margaritas were strong but a bit sour for my taste but the food was on point. He had chicken chimichangas and I had tacos al pastor, both delish, and the guac was really good! would definitely go back.

This is one to visit, amazing and delicious dishes. Meat, pork, and fish melts in your mouth. The staff is pleasant and always make you feel like royalty, especially like your home. Dont miss this jewel in Union Square Area. 5 stars

Mexican for Halloween dinner…
We had the veggie burrito, Texano and steak quesadillas. Quite a filling meal to end an eventful night of ghoulish things.

Ever since I left college in 2014 I couldn’t find a Mexican spot with good chimichangas until I came upon this restaurant. I order the nachos; queso fundido and steak chimichangas along with 3 different margaritas (strawberry, guava, and passion fruit)
1.the margaritas was tasty (strong but I would have liked it stronger)
2.the waiter took forever to come and greet us and once did asked us what we wanted to drink, we order water & margarita! The margarita came quickly but water not so much.
3.we order appetizer and entrée, the appetizer came out first but took forever, then we finished our app and sat there for another 15 mins and then the entrée came out, wasn’t hungry anymore.
4.very hard to find a waitstaff and hard to get their attention, under staffed.
5.the chimichangas had good flavored and big portion but not so good service.

My friends and I ended up here while waiting for a private party to end at the karaōke spot next door. We didn’t order actual food, so I can’t comment much there. But, I definitely want to come back because the atmosphere was super cute and the server was very friendly (Hola, Jose!).
My friends had the margaritas and when I tell you they COULD NOT stop talking about them all night. We also had the Nachos Americanos — we were pleased. My Texan friend didn’t complain and you know Texans think they know more about Mexican food than Mexicans… so, give it a try.

The food was great. I had a milanesa pollo and my friend had steak quesadilla for appetizers we have some cheese with tortilla we drank frozen margaritas. Now the issue was when we order the drinks they took like half an hour to 20 minutes to get the drinks throughout this we waited for the waiter to bring us our drinks they were not paying attention to us we sat there waiting. the service was very slow and not well organize but the food was great though.

One of my favorite places in the city. I was here again yesterday. Literally here twice a week and I live FAR uptown! The weekend bartender is so awesome– she makes specialty coconut mojitos (with freshly shredded coconut) just for me! Divinity!
I only order fajitas here because they serve a very large portion and cost only $ 5 more than tacos. Fast service, fresh food and great atmosphere. The place is dimly lit by candlelight and makes for a great date spot and the bar rarely gets too loud. Highly recommend.

I really like Trece for happy hour. Been here twice. I decided to check it out the first time because it was close to work and I came back the second time because I knew it’d be a safe choice and satisfying. I came around 5:30−6pm on a week day both times and the restaurant was fairly empty, which was nice because we got our drinks and food quickly and it’s nice to be away from louder happy hours sometimes. $ 5 for cocktails and beer /​$ 6-​$ 10 for shots. Their drinks are strong but still good, which is perfect. For food, I’ve tried the guac and chips (very good), Mexico City Street Style Corn topped with mayo + chili powder + cheese (yum!), and the carnitas tacos (meh). I love the somewhat dim but not too dark lighting in the restaurant. The front is colorful and the back has a bit more of a romantic feel.

Mariana is the best. The food here was a pleasant surprise! I didn’t expect to be so full and satisfied!

With the hit or miss reviews on Unilocal,we were reluctant to try Trece but took a chance. Michael M and I have now been here 3 times for dinner in the past two months and it has been a hit every time.
The margaritas are awesome, and I keep returning to the Poblano marg which comes with a swift tequila kick and a spicy kick. More than 2 would probably knock me out.
Trece has a variety of guacamole and our favorite is the roasted corn guac with Mexican Cotija cheese and chili powder. It is simple, fresh and not overly complicated with too many fancy ingredients.
This last time I tried De Pulpo, grilled octopus cerviche with mango. It was ok but the octopus was too tough and chewy as if it were overcooked. If crevice, I’m not sure why it’s also grilled. Next time I’ll stick with the Trece Cerviche which is a seafood mix.
Michael orders the Vegetarianos tacos every time. While I found the Baja style fish tacos a bit bland (probably because they used tilapia that day), I would order it again if the tacos were truly Baja style with tuna. I really enjoy the Al Pastor tacos with adobo sauce marinated pork and pineapple. Including the appetizers, the three small tacos per entrée are always more than we can eat.
The waitresses are friendly and stop by enough times without hovering. Without a doubt, I’m sure we will soon hit Trece for our trece time.
