History

Established in 2006.

Since its opening in 2006, Trestle on Tenth has celebrated the tradition and innovation of Swiss cuisine, a respect for local ingredients and a NY Times-acclaimed wine list. Located on Tenth Avenue and 24th Street, in the heart of NYC’s Chelsea community, the restaurant is a gathering place for artists, gallerists, art enthusiasts, locals and out-of-towners; a neighborhood haunt and a city destination — all at once. This convivial ambiance is a credit to Chef and Owner Ralf Kuettel’s original goal: great food and great service — without the pretension. And, it’s this same spirit that the team continues to foster through homegrown cuisine and honest hospitality.

Meet the Business Owner

Ralf K.

Business Owner

Ralf Kuettel, Chef and Owner, was born and raised in Turbenthal, Switzerland. Surrounded by woods and farmland, he grew up with an appreciation for the earth’s bounty and a taste for fresh, seasonal ingredients. From his ‘première’ into the industry as a cooking apprenticeship at Restaurant Seehus Stäfa in Stäfa, Switzerland to a high-profile job as a Tournant at New York City’s Union Square Café — and out West to the 3-star Palm Court restaurant in Seattle and the Adams Street Bar and Grill in Breckenridge, Ralf has always sought new ways to expand his culinary skills and creativity. When he returned to NYC he worked as a Sous-Chef in the kitchen at Soho’s chic Zoë restaurant before accepting the Chef de Cuisine position at NYT 3-star Cena. In addition to his culinary pursuits, Ralf worked to expand his wine expertise through a wine buyer position at Chelsea Wine Vault. In 2006 fate led Ralf to a charming restaurant space in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood and Trestle on Tenth was born!
