Turkish Airlines

They lost my bag and they only offer a number with a recorded message. Stranded in Amsterdam so far 3 days now with no word. With no clothes but those on my back, no makeup, toiletries, winter coat, and having business meetings to attend, costing me hundreds of Euros for the inconvenience, and possibly thousands of I have to replace everything I packed for a 10 day multicity work trip.

The airline itself and my flights with them were okay. But I had encountered 2 agents who had lied to me. My friend and I were traveling back from Venice to JFK via Turkish Airline. When we checked in we noticed our seats were different from the ones we had originally picked. When we asked the agent at the check in counter, we were told our flight had changed and the new seats were assigned. We had originally had aisle seats so we asked to confirm this information. We were told by the agent that we both have aisle seats. I checked the seat map of our flight while waiting to board. I found out that my friend have an aisle seat but I have a middle seat. I presented this information to the agent at the gate. She checked and informed me, again, that I have an aisle seat. I told her I checked online and it is not true. She reassured me of the information. She told me maybe I had looked at a wrong plane since there are so many different plane configurations.
Guess what. When I got on the plane, I found I had a middle seat out of the 3 seats in the middle.
I understand flight changes. I understand sometimes I may not get my preferred seat. But I don’t understand why I was lied to, TWICE. I was upset about getting a middle seat. But I was more upset about being lied to twice by employees of Turkish Airline.

AVOID TURKISH AIRLINES at all costs — and, it will cost you!
My husband and I flew with Turkish Airlines on ⁸⁄₂₄ for our honeymoon. Sixteen days in Europe. Turkish Airlines lost our bag the entire time and never even delivered it to its final destination!
Imagine trying to buy underwear and bras in Kusadasi or find some comfortable walking shoes, makeup, formal dress, bathing suit, etc. at random ports all the while missing out on your pre-​paid excursions and dinners because you don’t have proper dress attire! We saved for years for this trip of a lifetime and Turkish Airlines ruined it then and are not doing anything to rectify the situation now.
My poor mother, my mother-​in-​law, our travel agent, and our cruise line all tried to get through to Turkish Airline to find out where the bag was and try to get it to our final destination while we we are on the ship (limited cell service and email for us). Each time Turkish agents told us a different answer, which contradicted the next answer we received. At one point Turkish said they were trying to get it to us at the next port but, it never even left the United States! Then we were told that the file was closed because the bag was delivered, but it was not yet. Finally we had to call a carrier service to go to LAX airport to look through the lost bags and they found our bag.
Now they are claiming we didn’t file within the 21 day policy of missing bag. But we did and have a copy of the Direct Courier Service receipt on the date my mother-​in-​law had to pick up the bag (we were still in Europe at this time), plus we have dated automated emails from Turkish on the date I submitted the claim, to prove it. They are just using excuses to discourage us from standing up to our rights as a passenger.
Turkish is now ignoring our email. We plan to now work with an attorney to escalate the issue if we aren’t contacted by Turkish Airlines shortly.
From my experience, Turkish Airlines does not care about their customers. Don’t fly with Turkish Airlines, fly with another airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways or Qatar Airways.

DO NOT FLY WITH TURKISH AIRLINES. If you want to have your luggage lost, recieve the worst customer service and be treated with disrespect fly with this airline and in addition to that they are RACIST. Turkish airlines is by far the worst airline. I have travelled with dozens of airlines but nothing can compare to the horrible experience i had. I lost a bag which had 12,000 dollar worth of items in it. Did anyone care? No ! I travelled from washington DC to amman and had a transit in ataturk airport on may 19 2015 (over a MONTH ago) and i reached amman with a missing bag (AMMTK31446). I went to the turkish airline office to report my issue no one helped me, they were RACIST, rude, disrespectful and didn’t care at all about what i was going through. after asking to speak to the manager they told me he wasn’t available and will contact me. He didnt. And once again i repeated this experience he still didn’t contact me. I then contacted the free call center 80 022 347 where i was subjected to fraud and a lying scheme. A representative told me my bag was found and in jordan and that they would contact me, and when i call back another representative says there is no such thing and they have no idea where my bag is?! And if i ask to speak to the manager they hang up or act like they dun hear me. After that they told me you have to complain through our website, I have now 16 complaints number and no one contacted me about them. I also sent emails to their main office as they instructed me to do (
) and I always got an automatic replay from them whatever I wrote in the email, I get the same replay. So apparently the floor opened and swallowed my bag since they have no idea where it went. And to top this off i was told by turkish airline to buy items till my bag comes and they will pay the bill for me (
). And now they refuse to do so and i am stuck here without my clothes and items in addition to losing extra money. When I will go back to DC, I will consider suing this airline with every cent they have just like they made me suffer. If you have any brain within your head you will not fly with this airline

We flew Turkish Airlines from Bombay to Venice on June 8^th 2015. The flight was unexceptional, with cramped seating and delays in Bombay, a rushed transfer to the plane for Venice. Our checked-​in suitcase is missing, and is still not found. We were not the only ones to lose suitcases on that flight. I am writing this review on June 10^th. I have attempted to speak with a human being since the 8^th and with little success. The airport staff at Venice airport were unhelpful; the Turkish Airlines staff are non-​existent. And I am directed to a call-​center where I was basically scolded by the obnoxious staff member on the other end. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The suitcase has vital medication and we are still waiting for it. No one should ever travel this airline. It is awful and treats people very very badly.

Its my first time buying tickets from turkish airline and I already have many problems with customer service. I didnt even fly yet, my trip is in the summer but I spend hours in the phone with them. First of all I get different answers from different representatives. At some point, they told me they cant help over the phone and I have to go to 530 fifth ave office to change my reservation. They gave me the address, hours of operation but what thry failed to say is that I cant get into turkish airlines office which is located in empire state building. Security doesnt let me up unless I am on the list, they kept calling the office for an hour but no one answers the phone. I called ISTANBUL 3 times, explained the situatuon, all 3 supervisors promised to send an urgen email to NY office so they can see me upstairs. I waited 2 hours in the empire state lobby and finally left. Somebody contacted me later that day and said to come to jfk office. After spending all day traveling to 2 different locatuins and paying more than $ 50 for parking, I learned that I had to pay additional $ 200 to change the date. Thats on top of 300 euros I already paid for change of dates. So the new ticket that I can purchase right now for the same dates will cost me $ 680. If all the penalties and fees they charging me right now I will end up spending $ 1400. Like I said, customer service is the worse, no one speaks English well but most importantly no one wants to help. Stay away from Turkish airlines

This airline does not deserve a star. It his to have the worst and I mean the worst customer service I have ever talk toz
1^st they don’t speak English and when you ask for someone that speaks English they don’t understand you.
It is no better when you call JFK to talk to someone. They are rude and also don’t speak good English.
This is my 1^st time that I was going to fly with them because it was cheap but I will be more then happy to 300 more to have someone that understands me.
Never again will I deal with this airline.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I booked group travel to/​from Uganda with Turkish because their rates were considerably lower than the competition. Never again. From the utterly chaotic boarding processes to not a single flight leaving on time to obnoxious passengers (who used the flight attendant call button approximately every minute, making it impossible to sleep through all the dings) to somehow not transferring a bag from one flight to another despite a four-​hour layover in Istanbul, flying Turkish is a nightmare. They lost my bag, told me I would have it the following evening, then when I called because it wasn’t delivered when promised, said it would take at least two days. The bag has still not arrived, but I can tell you with certainty that Turkish has permanently lost my business. I’d rather spend the extra $ 5,000 per group than deal with them again.
Also, the US customer service agents’ English is very poor. I’m sorry to complain about that, but I had to ask to talk to a supervisor to be able to understand and be understood. The agents with whom I spoke about my baggage didn’t have the vocabulary/​language skills to understand my questions.

Completely dysfunctional airline. Most flights are delayed and the customer service… let’s not even talk about it.

This should supplement my earlier review. After months of correspondence with Turkish Airlines, filing this review, and filing complaints with the Federal Government and New York BBB, Turkish Airlines paid in full the amount owed to me based upon their ticket sale practices. While I am content they paid, the ordeal of this is concerning. I would hope that Turkish Airlines would clean up its customer service apparatus because the rest of the operation of Turkish Airlines is great. My previous rating stands though I may consider using this airline in the future should I be traveling on one of their routes.

Please don’t make me relive the last two days by telling my story… its enough just to say, what good is a comfortable airline with good food if they torture you endlessly while you’re trying to buy the tickets? UGH. I’ve spent about 4 wasted hours trying to undo their mistake (a website that BILLS YOU TWICE!!) To call this website buggy is being unfair to insects… its like a crazy black hole. Here’s some advice — do whatever you can to find a good TURKISH TRAVEL AGENT to make these arrangements if you must fly Turkish. I wish I had.

They lost my bag and after 8 days they said they found it and I have to go to airport to pick it up, after I went they made me wait 3 hours and then they said it is not there yet, I had to buy new clothes, shoes, and everything which cost me more than %600 plus the bag itself which costs more than $ 100, when I asked them to pay me what I paid they refused saying that it is not their responsibility (even though law says they have to pay minimum $ 600 if they lost luggage keeps not found more than 48 hours)
They are completely useless and hardly to find some one who speaks english
in few words THEY ARE JUST CRAPS and not recommended at all.

it is IMPOSSIBLE to call them! tried all numbers including 800−874−8875 and had to wait over an hour to get to somebody. I finally had to pay long distance rates to call their office in Turkey. VERY TERRIBLE

This airline is often among the cheapest between Singapore and Europe, and they don’t hike up their prices for multiple destination flights. This means I can fly to Paris, take the Eurostar to London, then fly back from London for about the same price in terms of flights as a roundtrip to either city (saving me the time and cost of the return train).
They also reliably have some of the best food I have ever seen on an airline. Their meats are grilled and well-​seasoned and taste like real meat. Their vegetables tend to seem more fresh. Their orange juice seems fresh squeezed or otherwise better quality than you can find on other carriers.
The on demand in flight entertainment has always been functional and had a good selection. And they have always credited me with miles on my United MileagePlus account. I have only good things to say about Turkish Airlines.

Food is good. service is decent. customer service over the phone and their website, however is HORRIBLE. I had to stay on the phone for about an hour to get someone and this is after I kept calling and it wouldn’t even go through since «all lines are busy, goodbye»… very strange.
This was just very bad. Also the customer rep I had was VERY rude. But because I needed to change my flights, I just didn’t argue back– instead I’m taking my frustration to Unilocal

Lost my suitcase on flight from Istanbul to Tehran with all the medicine for my ailing mother which is hard to find in Iran. I believe the suite case was stolen by their staff in Istanbul airport which was a nightmare to get through with very long lines and no one speaking English!
I plan to file a suit in small claims court in NYC since that is the only way this crappy airline would be forced to compensate me for this loss. My seat’s reclining mechanism was broken and the earphone plug did not work properly.

If I could have I would have given them 0 stars. My mom is currently stuck at the Istanbul airport due to the negligence and rude behavior of the boarding staff. Below is the complaint written to Turkish Airlines:
I had a connected flight to India from Houston, TX via Istanbul. When I got to Istanbul (I had Wheelchair assistance) they parked me in the lounge. I repeatedly asked the wheelchair attendant about my flight and the lady at the front counter and they told me you have 45 minutes. I asked them 3 – 4 times and then the last time they said oops your flight left. The wheelchair attendant kept ignoring me. Then they didn’t offer anything to make their mistake easier besides a hotel room which is given. I am still waiting on them to tell me what’s going to happen (it’s been 1 ½ hrs.) I am never going to take Turkish Airlines again and I will make sure everyone knows about my horrid experience. Now after the lady finally came back with a hotel voucher she told me I could only stay in the hotel for 9 hrs. It’s 9pm right now and my flight leaves the next day at 5pm. What am I supposed to do until then, apparantly eat and live at the airport. I have wheelchair service for a reason. I am almost 60 years old and I have medical issues and you are asking me to sit in an uncomfortable chair in the lounge, wait until midnight to go to the hotel and come back early morning and start all over again for your negligence? This is unbelievable. I have never had this problem with Air France, Emirates, or even the worse Lufthansa. I think over this experience even KLM shines. I am a frequent flier and spend a lot of money traveling. I deserve better than this from an airline.

Turkish Airlines is getting the «Best European Airline» award for last two years by Skytrax.
The food is excellent. It is the best food you can have ever in the air. The fly attendants are nice and helpful. Check-​in and check-​out is okay. I did not have any problem. The planes are updated and clean. I do not know what you can expect more than these criteria.
Give a chance… I love Turkish Airlines.

Service was good. Friendly and attentive. I took it from/​to Seoul/​Incheon to/​from Istanbul and within Europe.
For the business class, most airplanes are not equipped with flat bed but the seats are spacious.
They always give you a big plate with mezza so this one fills you up pretty much before main entrée. Food was good but not creative or memorable.
In-​flight entertainment was not as good as most other airlines…
Overall, I thought Turkish airline was good for the price and would take it again.
PS: If you have more than 8 hours layover in Istanbul and travel with Turkish airline, they offer you a free city tour. It’s worth it.
