I love TwoDo!!! First, it is important to know that I am very particular about my hair color. I get my hair colored blonde, and it is extremely important to me that it look very natural, and that my hair not be damaged, as blonde coloring can tend to do. That said, I have been going here since I moved to the UWS, nearly 15 years ago. TwoDo was recommended to me by a family member, who is very particular about her hair, and would only go to this salon. So I knew this was going to be a good place. Today, it is the ONLY place I will have my hair colored, from now on. I will explain why. Over the years, I have strayed, and gone to other places, if they were more convenient to my office, or offered a better deal, coupon, etc. Each of those salons was a «big name» place, you would know if I mentioned. But I was disappointed each and every time! My hair never looked as pretty, and as vibrant, healthy, and natural, as when Megan did it. Through these terrible, and at times, horrifying experiences, I realized that TwoDo is a place with true experts, who are better than the competition, and that is what I pay for. Yes, TwoDo costs a little more than some other salons, but I have learned that with hair color, you truly do get what you pay for. I am a very thrifty person, but no bargain was ever worth it. I will never let anyone else but Megan touch my hair, from now on!

Megan is an artist! It took me a long time to find the right salon for me, as my color a little extreme and ever changing, and I want someone to put love and care into their work. Everyone at TwoDo does exactly this. Olga cuts my hair, and she too took the time and care to give me exactly what I wanted. The salon is perfectly quaint; a warm and welcoming environment full of talented stylists and colorists. I’m so happy that I finally found a great salon in my neighborhood.

Had a great cut and style by Chi. First time at this salon, which is a little gem on the UWS.
I was greeted, looked after and spent just over an hour there. All the staff were great.
I was going from long to short hair and Chi spent time discussing the cut, style and long term management and benefits. The cut was done efficiently and with care. Chi spent time perfecting it and styling it. There’s a reason he’s the resident trainer.
By far the best cut I have ever had in NY. Prices were reasonable for the UWS and there was no overt or harassing selling of product like in other salons I have gone to.
I FINALLY found a stylist I like after five years and I will be going back.

It’s been two and a half weeks since I had my color done by Megan and I’m so thrilled with the results. Grays covered with an overall warm red with bright pops of red on tips and on top. I have curly hair and I love how my curls are highlighted with the painting technique she used. The color isn’t brassy or orangey. Megan has a reputation as a color artist and it’s true. I’m so glad I found her! The assistant was very sweet and there was a very down to earth vibe rather than uppity like most salons. Highly recommend Two Do!

I wanted a pretty intense and out-​of-​the-​ordinary color experience, something Megan had never even done before, but she did a bunch of research, ordered special dyes, and talked me through all my options until we came to a totally unique and empowering look. I never really go to salons but this place is so warm, familial, and inviting — truly unpretentious just like they say. Michelle gave me a lovely trim and got my bangs exactly how I like, and Megan and Michelle worked tirelessly together for hours to get my multi-​step color process absolutely perfect. Then Kevin took great complimentary photos of my new look, which made me feel like a million bucks!
Wonderful hospitality, and great result, and caring personal service — you really can’t ask for more when it comes to something to particular and intimate as your hair.

I have been here many times because of the proximity but am usually disappointed. This salon is no better than a Supercuts, not much creativity or thought going into what they do but it will cost you as much as if you went to the best salon in NYC so you are better off going to the best salon for the money. I was stunned at the price and very displeased with the haircut and color after this recent trip — they did exactly what I asked them not to do and were not paying attention. The people are nice though so I give it one star.

If I could move back to NYC just for Stephen and this salon, I would.
I feel like I go in every time not really having a clear picture of what I want. Stephen is great about listening to what I want, and I’ve actually come in a few times and just said «do whatever». I’ve not been disappointed once. Beyond the actual haircut itself, Stephen is definitely fun to talk to as well (never just the typical boring weather small talk), and even though I get my haircut fairly irregularly, he’ll always remember little tidbits from our last conversation too.
Anyway, I’m going to have to start planning vacations around my haircuts because I really don’t trust anyone else to do the job right!

It’s really hard to trust people with hair color so I went to TwoDo because I read great reviews and they were right! I did umbre highlights and the color and style was exactly the way I wanted it. Everyone was very pleasant and the owner was extremely nice!

I adore this salon. Went on a crappy winter day, and asked them to change over my look because I feeling so blah. Megan (the owner) did exactly what I wanted with the color even when I had trouble giving her specifics. James, the stylist, listened my concerns about split ends and not loosing to much length and gave me a great cut that was easy to maintain and still looked classy (even when I had to do it at home). The place isn’t cheap, but it’s in keeping with UWS prices, and worth every penny. I plan to go back for all my hair needs.

After 20+ years I finally got the edgy hair color I’ve always wanted! Megan rocked the color and James gave my hair a beautiful blow-​out. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. From its white washed brick walls to its stained glass windows, Two Do’s cozy, subterranean ambience is a welcome departure from NYC’s pretentious salon-​scene. It’s a hidden gem and I’m thrilled I found it.

I got a great cut and had a great experience at TwoDo. Chi cut my hair and did a great job. And I got a sensational head massage with my wash. I’ve lived with the cut for two weeks just to make sure it looks as good when I dry it as when i walked out of the salon. It does.
As for the atmosphere: comfortable and gracious.

Definitely my new favorite salon in the city. Chi was amazing and made my hair look fantastic. I get very nervous visiting new salons, but Chi made me feel at ease instantly. He was also very knowledgeable about products that the salon sold and hair in general. I’ll be back!

I very recently had the good fortune to place my long, lightened/​highlighted tresses in the über-​talented hands of the PHENOMENAL professionals at TwoDo Salon. First off: FIRST Impressions DO count and receptionist/​scheduler EIleen made a mighty favorable one. During my initial phone contact with the salon, Eileen was friendly, mega-​efficient and [as per the salon’s policy, I would presume] very helpfully specific about prices. Instead of the typical vagueness offered up by many salons — — e.g., «…that [price] depends on your hair… Our colorist/​stylist will assess you…» — — Eileen straightforwardly provided me with pricing guidelines, thus assuring me that TwoDo was affordable for my pocketbook.
And my booking experience was clearly a wonderful indication of things to come. I arrived punctually and there was not a moment of wait time. I was immediately ushered in to meet superb stylist Chi who was to cut my hair post-​color. He was so attentive and thorough in his consultation/​evaluation process, asking smart, thought-​triggering questions about my daily/​weekly hair routine, lifestyle, and even if the «heaviness» of my tresses ever proved an annoyance. Plus Chi exudes such a calming, affirming Zen-​like energy which instilled great confidence in me. And, boy, can he listen to and REALLY HEAR a client. Even though I’m a woman «d’un certain age,» I still have good hair, stay in optimal shape, am not employed in the corporate world, and have always been a long-​haired gal. Chi, without an iota of pandering, was wonderfully complimentary about my hair quality and professionally confirming about my commitment to keeping it long. Since I was new to TwoDo I did not yet know that the lovely, vibrant redhead colorist working on a client at a nearby station was owner Megan, who would be doing my single process and «framing» (¼ head highlights). Even as she was fully engaged in finishing up with her client, it was apparent that she was monitoring my consultation with Chi. This proved very helpful and productive since, obviously, there must be synergy between cut and color — — An harmonious double helix. Also, once it was time to have my Megan consultation, this highly experienced professional colorist already had much of the scoop on my wants, likes and needs. And talk about NOT feeling rushed… This initial consultation with Megan was truly the LONGEST I’ve EVER had with a hair professional in my four decades of salon-​going! First off, she too kindly complimented my head of hair, in a totally professional, non-B.S. way. Then Megan inquired as to what I liked/​disliked about my existing base color, highlights, lowlights; and asked if I had a picture of myself depicting a «winning» color combo by my standards. Again, lovely Megan really LISTENS and really HEARS her client. I felt such instant trust and confidence in her talent and sense of aesthetics, that I didn’t even need have her elaborate on her gameplan for my hair. But, of course, as the pro she is, she did just that. And I appreciated Megan’s forthcomingness in explaining that she’d be able to render much of what I wanted to implement/​correct on that first visit, but that it might take three visits in total [over the course of approximately 6 months] to arrive at my optimal color — — given that there was a good deal of disparity, damage and brassiness to overcome. Well, guess what? Despite her disclaimer Megan GOT IT RIGHT first time out! I was thoroughly pleased and delighted with the outcome. Her skill, combined with her artist’s eye, resulted in my hair looking beautiful and far healthier, with a natural-​looking lightened base color and wonderfully rendered high– and lowlights. During my next visit (probably not necessary until late August) I will most likely opt for a few more blonde highlights framing the face. But I also appreciate the fact that Megan opted for moderation during my first visit — — instead concentrating on color correction and health restoration.
And, needless to say, Megan’s magnificent color would not have shown to advantage without Chi’s fantastic cut. His artistry and technique imparted vastly improved shape, movement and overall health and shine to my hair, while sacrificing only enough length to rid my ends of tackiness. I also like the fact that there is no pushy, hard-​sell of products. TwoDo Salon uses the wonderful, high-​end Oribe line. When I explained that I could splurge on only one Oribe product that day, Chi provided me immediate guidance, suggesting which product would give me the most bang-​for-​my-​buck. BOTTOM LINE: TwoDo is a MUST DO!

I came to Two Do years ago for both cut and color. When the cuts became too expensive, I went somewhere else for both, but nothing matched the excellence of color jobs by Megan Gordon. I found a place where I could get my hair cut well/​reasonably, but I began seeing Krista for my color, because she’s more affordable than Megan, who is the owner. I can’t say enough good things about Krista and Two Do’s color. They listen to clients, and sometimes, they even listen too much.
Recently, I gave some instructions to Krista to make my highlights lighter, but the result was too light. I came in for a fix the next day, and then the opposite happened: the highlights were submerged in glaze. I wrote to Two Do, and they graciously offered for me to come in for a third time. Krista, consulting with Megan, put a lot of thought into the fix, which involved getting some of the glaze out to brighten the highlights. They also put a special curly hair mask on my hair, and now it looks great. I feel that Two Do truly abides by the retail adage: the customer is always right. They will work on your color until you are happy. Krista is also just a very lovely person – kind and determined that her clients walk away smiling.

Hair Experience Perfection.
I’m down to earth and just want good cut, color and products from my hair salon and this is exactly what I got at TwoDo. This place is super relaxing and real. The staff is friendly but not over the top — the décor is cosy and not that modern ikea look (typical) and the products are top of the line.
Meghan the owner is so cool and kind but most importantly extremely talented — I love my new color and it’s still soft & shiny. It’s so important to have a good colorist and I finally found that in Meghan.
The salon feels like a hideaway — like all great places in NYC. The location is easy to find but hard to see — look for the stained glass. It’s like a speakeasy of salons — I’m sure people in the know definitely come here and keep it their little secret.

I came here as a hair model for a roots touch-​up/​single process for blonde hair. Bruna took care of me; not only was she sweet and personable, but she did an amazing job on my hair! I’m blonde again! And it looks better than when I first went blonde, for a bleach/​tone class at a different salon.
Megan, the owner, watched over every step of the way, which was reassuring. They really took their time with me and we had a blast, talking and laughing the whole time. Some stylists are too focused on your hair that they forget about the overall experience and that the hair they’re dealing with belongs to a person! Here, they seamlessly balanced technical finesse with sincere, engaging conversation.
When Bruna finished, she apologized that she wouldn’t have time to blow-​dry my hair, as she had a client waiting. I said it was no problem, but she kindly arranged to have another stylist (awesome guy, forgot his name unfortunately) blow-​dry my hair.
They all complimented me on my hair and Megan asked if they could do a bit of styling and take pictures. I agreed without hesitation – love being pampered!
Another stylist came over to do some trendy braids along the crown of my head, and then the guy who blow-​dried my hair curled out the rest (expertly – with a flat-​iron!) I totally got the star treatment.
They said I was their favorite hair model ever, and I would like to say that this is the best salon I have ever hair modeled for!

I received a cut and color at TwoDo. I highly recommend Kelsey O. for both services. She did an amazing job while keeping my length as I requested and giving me an entire new look. Super calm with a great sense of humor, your dye time will be done before you know it when you’re in her chair. I got so many compliments at work, from my boyfriend and even strangers about my new ‘do!
The salon itself is located downstairs, this can be a little disorienting for those of us (me) who are directionally challenged. Look for the stained glass windows! Inside, the salon is expertly kept just like it’s patrons and staff. The soft music playing in the background coupled with a hot green tea is a sure way to put anyone in a relaxed state.
I can’t wait to come here again :)

I went to this Salon for the first time 2 weeks ago. It was hands down the best cut and color– I have ever had! I have been in NYC for three years and had yet to find a salon I really liked until I went to TwoDo Salon.
I wanted something new and more sophisticated in terms of color and cut and that is absolutely what I received. I could not be happier and I am still getting tons of compliments.
I saw the owner, Megan Gordon, for my color. She gave my hair a lift and added life with out it looking harsh, fake or tacky. I saw Kelsey for the cut and she heard what I was looking for and was able to interpret and implement.

I was a regular TwoDo customer for nearly two years. I generally went to Megan as I had read about her expertise with color. I have also seen Stephen for a haircut, he is very personable and does a good job. My experiences with Megan (the owner of TwoDo) were generally good, however sometimes I did not feel like the center of her attention when she was working on my hair or having her assistant work on my hair. Sometimes it felt like she had to deal with every little problem that comes up with every customer. I basically stopped coming here because the results were not up to par with what I was paying.
Often they did good work, but one too many times my hair had that awful orange tint, finally I just decided to save money and stopped going to TwoDo. Since then, I have heard about the recent upheaval, where half the regular long time staff abruptly up and quit. It makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes. That being said, my only gripe really is this salon is just too expensive for the results you get. The staff are generally warm and welcoming, even if it is a little faux, that’s to be expected probably at any hair salon.
Krista, Megan’s former assistant, is now a full time colorist, and I think she will do great as she was always very personable and did good work.

Got hair feather extensions here from a stylist named Stephen.
He was great! Not pushy. Not boring.
He was not annoyed at my questions about the feathers and offered many ways I can wear them.
We picked out 4 really cute ones and he helped me assemble them!
Overall great experience.
You can miss this place if you walk too fast; its entrance is pretty tiny and obscured.
