Paul is the man! He’s such a smart and sweet guy, incredibly passionate about his wine, knows the story behind every bottle and incredibly generous with his time and never tries to up-​sell you. I never want to shop at another place for my wine.

THIS is the FIRST ever wine store that let you taste your wine ***before*** you buy.
I recently attended a YE event at *another* wine store (uhm) and the *other* store claimed they are the first-​of-​its-​kind

THIS IS A FACT.
OK, now that we are clear on the facts, more about the wines themselves:
Uncorked has been a mainstay of the Village, and I’m sure your first visit won’t be your last
It’s a cozy place that boasts a wide, floor-​to-​ceiling selection of various wines. The owner Paul is super knowledgeable– I asked him abt this obscure wine I had during my trip to Austria. And guess what, Paul tried it, and the store has it!!! VERY impressed
And yes, Paul has all these cool machines to store opened bottles, so that more customers get to taste all the carefully selected wines in the store, ***before*** they buy anything (or nothing!). Me and my friend tasted at least 5 and the owner was so nice and never got annoyed :)
As for price points, there a good range. You can get some solid wines without breaking the bank. AND you can reach for the Chateauneuf Du Pape if you so wish :)
Overall a great place with a truly innovative concept, with a great owner in house.
PS. It’s a bit tucked-​away. So look for the Maison Kayser on the corner, then walk west down the little street that is Christopher

Paul is exceptional. He will match up your budget with a best bottle of wine that your money can buy. He is also very fun to talk to and very knowledge about the wines in his store.

Uncorked Wine Co is a must try for wine buffs in nyc. The «No Crap Wine» sign outside the store speaks the truth. Just go in and tell Paul what kind of wine you are looking for and he will help you decide which wine is right for you. The best part is that you get to try the wines before you buy them. You really could stay here all night because Paul makes it feel like you are tasting wine with a good friend and not actually shopping for wine. I walked out with three great bottles and I won’t even mind when I finish them because I know I get to come back!

Unilocal checkin offer and some crazy reviews attracted us to a great selection and some surprisingly reasonable prices for the area.

Paul loves his wine and his customers. Love it! Bought two bottles and both were fantastic.

Best wine shop in NYC. Paul rocks! He knows everything about his wines — literally — and let’s you sample almost anything. He is our «go to» wine guy!!!

I was in a few months ago asking Paul, the owner, for help with some wine for a party. In walks a girl with a measuring cup. She lives nearby, has a dinner party and realized she needed some white wine for the dish she was preparing. What happens? Paul asks her about what she is cooking, pours some wine into her measuring cup, tells a few jokes, she is eternally grateful, gives him a hug and is on her way back to her kitchen. Probably the best representation of perfect customer service and relationship-​building I have ever seen.
Paul is passionate and immensely educated about wine. I often provide some vague descriptions of what I am looking for («something ‘dirty’» or «sushi?») and without fail, Paul always provides a solid recommendation. And more times than not, he’ll say: «Hey, you could do that one but this one’s only $ 18 and really good.»
All this (and more) and that is why after moving out of the neighborhood, I still go across town to purchase all my wine from Uncorked Wine.
No comparison — the best wine shop in the city.

If you only go to one wine store in Manhattan, make this the one.
We just signed up for the monthly wine club and we could not be more excited to get our first delivery! The club includes 6 wines in the $ 15 price range (can choose your range) delivered to your door for no extra fee — AND from a knowledgable and passionate staff.

Lisa’s great in making accurate suggestions. It’s also helpful that they have an amazing tasting station. They have a great French & Italian selection, along with strong American offerings. I’m open & all over the place when it comes to both reds & whites so it’s refreshing to be led into unchartered vinos.

Paul was lovely! Even though he was busy with someone else he quickly acknowledged me when I entered with a warm smile and a friendly Hello.
He was able to get me a beautiful Montepulciano that was awesome for the dinner party I was going to as well as a lovely brief history on the particular region it came from all while keeping my budget in mind.
I think I’m in love with this wine shop.

This might be my favorite place on Earth. In fact, I can’t believe this wasn’t my first review (not that Paul and Uncorked need any more glowing accolades!)
Obviously, the concept of tasting wine before you buy is great — and as many others have mentioned the prices are on point and you can find something great in any $ range. But the greatness of Uncorked goes so far beyond that! I used to live and work in the area so would stop by fairly often — sometimes with a clear idea in mind (sauv blanc under $ 20), sometimes with a vague idea in mind (good with thai food; something to drink in 90 degree weather on a roof), and often just in search of some guidance and a good bottle. Paul never failed to help me find exactly what I was looking for (in my price range) and has recommended countless delicious bottles that have turned into new favorites (I’ll take this opportunity to apologize for drinking all of the «crack wine,» this summer…)
Now that I’m living in Jersey and not commuting via the PATH stop a block away, I have to make a special trip to stop by, but Paul still always remember me personally! When I stopped by yesterday, we chatted about Hoboken briefly and he asked how my boyfriend was doing — because he remembered helping me pick out a special bottle when I went to meet his parent’s for the first time (the parents were great and the bottle impressed — the guy was an ass and is now an ex!) This place is always busy, so the fact that he makes such an effort to get to know his customers is really phenomenal. I’d go out of my way to support Paul and this business even if the tasting model wasn’t so cool!
Added bonus — after ten bottles of wine you get a discount off of your 11^th bottle — I think it’s $ 15 or $ 20, but I will update next time — I’m on number 9!

I was looking for a wine shop to cater a professional event, and they seemed the most knowledgeable via phone. Came in for a tasting to make a final selection and that’s when they bowled me over with great service, helpful tips, and fabulous selection of wine! So good that we even bought bottles for our personal consumption.

Great selection and amazing service! I ordered the wine for our 100 guest wedding through Paul at Uncorked. He was super helpful, provided a free tasting, and was able to help us stay within our budget while still finding us a great selection of truly amazing wines. He even sent us home with one of the bottles we really loved at our tasting for free!
Very professional and always easy to reach (he gave us his cell phone number), it was one of the easiest vendor decisions I made for my wedding. Our guests raved about the wine all night, some people even took photos so that they could go out and buy their favorite after the wedding. I HIGHLY recommend using Uncorked for any special event.

Great neighborhood wine shop in the West Village. Bottles at every price point, and we’ve never been disappointed in more than a year of going here.
Paul and the rest of the team are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and always able to come up with a good recommendation.

We stayed in the west village recently and in less than 24 hours made two trips out of our way to but a bottle of wine. The owner Paul is clearly living his passion and it was a pleasure to tell him what we like and have him treat us to a few sips of wine he thought would be right up our alley. He also have us recommendations in a couple of price ranges and let us taste some beyond. Very friendly, knowledgeable, personal service in this top notch wine store. (Also love the sign outside that says No Crap Wine!)

Have you ever ordered wine at a restaurant and the sommelier pours you a small sample to sip? Technically speaking, if you don’t like the wine you could send it back and request another bottle. However, unless you’re a total wine snob, you never really do send back the wine right?
That’s the problem with buying wine in the city. It’s usually a trial and error experiment and with the wine list and sometimes you flunk, sometimes you pass, and sometimes you manage to get by with that C-​. Paul at Uncorked Wine is like that afterschool tutor that declutters the complexity of the world of fine vino.
He’s extremely amicable and immediately took me under his pedagogic wings when I stumbled in his shop as a wine newbie. I was fascinated by all the 5-​stars my fellow reviewers were giving out and even more intrigued by the rows and rows of wine dispensers. After a few sips here and there and some serious wine history 101, I was happily tipsy and ready to buy my three bottles.
I ended up with a full-​bodied merlot that I know my dad would love, a white blend that I fell in love with on first taste and another red that I wanted to try myself. All that for around $ 33 a bottle. Great experience and great customer service. I’m afraid all these positive reviews is going to let out the secret of Uncorked but I’m happy to send more business to such a fine establishment.

Great find! I accidently ran into this wine store on the way to Employees Only to meet a friend.
The store is very classy and has high tech machines that chill the wines to appropriate drinking tempertures and automatically pours a taste portion into glasses (Glass not plastic wine glasses). The concept is simple, you can taste the wines before you buy them.
The owner is named Paul and he very helpful in finding what you enjoy. He loves wines and you can tell. He poured me a wine that he no longer has in stock just to share.
The wines range from $ 10 — above a thousand. Either way I bought a case after my experience there. This will be a repeat.
TIP: Delivery is free in manhatten and if you buy a case he adds on a 20% discount. There is a wine cooling machine in the store if you want to chill your wine before bringing it to dinner.
