Unique Eyewear

Terrific place. I went there with mangled frames, and they moved my lens to new frames in minutes. They have a wide selection of frames and prices. Complete absence of the marketing you see in regular optical shops. I never felt rushed. Personal service. Nice to go to a place where they remember you the next time you show up. This is old school NYC. Both employees assisted with selection and repair. Don’t be put off by their location on the 12^th floor of an office building. More than worth the search.

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. This is hands-​down the best optical shop I’ve ever been to. They have an excellent selection of frames, and they somehow still manage to be less expensive than the competition. My experience with them, however, is the main reason why I I’d recommend you to go here and not anywhere else if you’re looking to purchase glasses.
About a month ago, the pair of glasses I was using for the past 5 years broke without warning and I was forced to go on a hunt for a new pair. After visiting 20+ stores all over the city, I discovered Unique Eyewear. I spent over an hour just browsing frames and not once did they tell me to hurry up or push me to purchase something I wasn’t completely, 100% satisfied with. Instead, the two staff present (Julio and Tess) were friendly, patient, attentive, and even gave me frank advice on which frames would best suit my face! Not only were the staff excellent, but every customer I met and talked to in the store had only good things to say. Many of them were even lifelong customers! As a young 20-​something who trusts word-​of-​mouth more than anything else, this immediately laid any doubts I had to rest and I ended up buying from Unique and not any of the other stores. As an added bonus, when it came time to pay they were even kind enough to cut me a discount due to my student status.
But the story doesn’t end there. A few days later, I was on a business trip and almost got run over by a car. Although I survived with minor injuries, my glasses were completely destroyed. Panicking, I called up Unique and they immediately made a new pair for me for a mere fraction of the cost of the original. I have been wearing glasses since childhood, and I have never seen an optical shop do something like that for a customer! This alone shows how much the store cares for its customers.
In the future I will definitely be going back here, and I urge you to check them out if you’re looking for glasses. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

I’ve been getting my glasses at Unique for almost thirty years. They are simply the best people with the best glasses at the best prices.

This place is by far one of the best I’ve been in NYC. The prices are really good and the brands they sell too. Crazy amount of options and the best of all is the staff that works there. Tess was really kind and helpful. They are SUPER friendly and never push you to buy the frames. They offer you advice on how they look on you too if you ask. Thanks for everything!

I had an excellent experience at Unique Eyewear. Tess and Julio were extremely friendly, helpful, and never pressured me to purchase frames as other eye glasses stores can tend to do. When I finally picked a pair of glasses, they were able to make my prescription in 20 minutes which was super convenient. As an added bonus, all of the frames in the store were half off today, and they had an excellent selection!!! I highly recommend!

Love this place. Staff is professional, extremely helpful. Solved several problems caused by a previous optician, who was less than helpful. Special thanks to Terri for going beyond the call of duty.

This is the best place I have ever gotten glasses. They do the most excellent job and they are the nicest people. It is a hidden gem and I wish that I had known about it long ago.

I have been going here for yearssss! After visiting a few other eye places I know this place for the diamond it is! Great honest customer service and great prices! It doesn’t get much better than this, unless they were to massage your feet at the door :-)

They are arrogant, rude, and inconsiderate. Union members
should not bother, you can do better elsewhere. Your business means nothing to them and they will look to give you the least for less.
