I came across this amazing hair salon via an article in WST 42 magazine and it mentioned reasonable prices/​great stylists and fantastic ambience.
I have never looked back and Stephanie has been the most amazing stylist– such fun and she does wonders with my short hair.
Even the fabulous Valentino himself stepped in today and looked after me — incredible !
Love this place.

I discovered this salon in Hell’s Kitchen a few months ago and all I can say is WOW. I have had my hair cut here 3 times by 2 different stylists have been consistently pleased. The staff I interacted with were helpful and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Best place in the city for highlights, cut and styling. Everyone is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is very high-​end, The prices are very affordable.

I recently moved here from small town Alaska and had felt pretty blah about my hair for the past year or so. Looks aren’t too important up there. But once I got here I knew I needed a fun Manhattan cut and Alex pulled my hair out of its depression and I feel so light and happy and me again! Thank you so much, Alex! The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is always nice and welcoming. It’s really luxurious to me, a small town mountain girl. Can’t wait to come back!

I love, love, love this salon! After years of hopping around from one stylist to another, I finally found Eve. She’s amazing at what she does — from finding the right color to perfectly cutting my bangs. She’s also warm and friendly without being too chatty. Overall, she’s just perfect. I took off one star for the salon’s high pricing. I was expecting $ 200 for balayage, but it ended up being closer to $ 300. Not to say it wasn’t worth it, but that price wasn’t on their list of services so it took me by surprise.

Every visit is a treat! Valentino and Jet really know how to pamper there guests and have a truly talented staff of stylists! Whether you need a color, cut or extensions this is where you want to go! I’m lucky to sit in Valentino’s seat every month — always a pleasure!!! But if you can’t get in with him, ask for Jimmy — get ready to smile people!

Another Year, Another Prom
Last year I took my twin son and daughter (as well as their friend) to Valentino and Jet Hair Salon for prom primping. All three had an exceptional experience and were treated so well and left the salon looking like a million bucks. This year we made our appointments months before to make sure they got to see the stylists they wanted. (My daughter and I also had our makeup done by a Valentino and Jet associate, Sariah Queen, but she came to our home).
I cannot tell you how much I trust the Valentino and Jet salon, not only for regular hair maintenance, but for special events. Everyone in the salon is friendly and helpful. The stylists are all talented professionals. Even the shampooists give the best scalp massages! It’s a joy to go there. I always feel better after a visit.
Have you got a big event coming up or just need a haircut or color? Save yourself the worry and book an appointment at Valentino and Jet. I highly recommend Valentino, Jet and Jimmy since I have worked with all of them individually but all the stylists are terrific! Stop by and check them out.

I chose this place because the GOOD REVIEWS from Unilocal.But such a big disappointment.
I did it almost 1.5 month ago, now my hair getting longer, I cut away the terrible parts, and I have more time, I decide to sit down and write this review.
It was My worst hair cut in the past 12 years. Beside my terrible haircut. They treated me as stupid and over charged me. Yes, it’s a Sunday afternoon. And if you assume every one has plenty of time to spend in a hair salon then you are wrong. Someone washed my hair then sent me to sit under a device for 20mins, I asked where is the hairdresser, they said he could not be found. later when check out they charged me $ 10 more (the menu shows haircut is $ 45, they charged me $ 55 + they asked me to give 20% tips), by telling me «your hair is so dry, we decided to give you a hair mask «I never wanted to wast my time and money on the hairmask! Why don’t you tell me before you just make decision for me.
Here comes the worst part. I told the hairdresser to keep the same haircut but shorter. Is that too simple? later he decided to improvised, he dragged my hair so hard as if he will pull it off my head, he bragged his skills to me, «I give you some layers…» I never want layers! I just want to state the fact, the next day everybody saw me told me the haircut was terrible, «it’s like someone used a chainsaw to cut it», one of my coworkers said.
To make it clear, I do not complain the style I asked to go shorter and the hairdresser did not fully agree. But it does not mean you should cut it with such poorly skills. The terrible skills and poor communication the store provided were very unpleasant. You should let your customer know what are you going to do and let them be aware of it.
I dont remember the name of the one cut my hair, I just know he is not one of the 2 owners.

Garry gave me a great cut! He was very detail oriented and gave me some useful tips that I have been using since. I really appreciated his through approach and also he was very friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back to Garry the next time I need a haircut. His color techniques are broad and worth experiencing

first experience was great. staff were friendly and attentive. I was able to get professional advice on my severely damaged hair. I came in with the thought of chopping most of my hair off. Garry told me my hair could still be saved and the results came out fantastic. I was recommended to this hair mask for 15 dollars, I have not tried the product yet. I will update this review in about a week regarding the hair mask product as well as how my new hair is doing. I will definitely come back here. I live in Queens and I believe that it’s worth the travel.

The staff was sweet and welcoming! I felt like a princess the whole time. I have extremely long hair and I rarely get my hair cut at hair salons because I simply do not trust. But Gabriel understood me completely! To make me comfortable, he was almost teaching me how to cut my hair. Told me every detail of the work and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at any given moment! I am a new around the neighborhood, and let me tell you, I already found my favorite salon! Beautiful work!

All I can say is I am already in LOVE with this place. Everyone is super friendly and nice. A day before I find out about this heaven I spent 5 hours in a hair salon and paid good fortune! My hairstylist was supposed to give me Platinum Blond color and the result was a very very damaged yellow white gray horrible color. I found out about this place in Unilocal and I knew right away this should be the one. I walked in to salon and everyone threat me super nice. I was lucky enough to get my hair cut done by adorable Valentino. I can’t express how much I love my haircut but his hands do magic.

Alright– so what started as a bad review is now a super positive experience and I am very impressed!
I had a bad haircut with a former stylist at Valentino and Jet and I vented on Unilocal.Within an hour of posting my review, Jet– one of the co-​owners, personally called me and kindly asked me what happened and if I could come in that day or the next so he could fix my hair.
This never happens– we post reviews, sad at life, hating our hair but don’t expect the owners to respond. When they do it’s refreshing and appreciated. I was super hesitant to come again because of my first bad experience– but Jet told me the stylist was no longer there (not because of me) and that he personally wanted to fix it.
So I showed up, again, super friendly receptionist and they were very attentive (which they were the first time too) and immediately he sat me down, assessed my hair and began to tell me the truth. He couldn’t fix the top weird layers but he could smooth out the cut and he did.
He took his time, listened to what I wanted and what I definitely didn’t want and he made my hair look great! I appreciated his honesty, his kindness and more than anything their sincere customer service and support!
My hair doesn’t look like a Jennifer Aniston/​Carol Brady «thing» anymore– it’s something I can work with and I will actually be back. You have to respect a business that truly values their customers and will do anything to please you and make you love your hair.

I had such a great experience with Garry at Valentino & Jet. I absolutely love how my hair turned out. Garry knew exactly what I wanted from the start and constantly checked in to make sure it was turning out like my vision. The balayage effect I got from the highlights is perfect. It did take quite a long time (around 3.5 hours, start to finish including color, wash, cut and style) but I actually appreciated that — it showed Garry’s attention to detail and dedication to the art. I haven’t felt this good about my hair in months! The salon itself is classy and clean, and everyone on the staff was super friendly. I’ll definitely be returning. So glad to have found my neighborhood salon!

My haircut is uneven.
Found this place on Unilocal,which usually never steers me wrong, and decided to take a chance. Been talking to the hubby about cutting my long, lifeless hair for a while and saw the reviews on this place. So I called and scheduled a spur of the moment, same day appointment with a senior stylist. The lady who answered scheduled an appointment at 5pm with the senior stylist, whom I requested.
My hubby and I walked in, were greeted nicely and offered a seat, water, coffee or tea, and coat to be taken. First impressions of the décor were trendy and cold, but the music is what really got to me. It was a pop/​edm station on pandora or Spotify, which is really quite soul-​less and not very relaxing. I like to be transported away when I go to a salon, and I’ve been to some of the bigger well established salons and spas (Warren Tricomi NYC, Royal Palms AZ) that ooze that «Relax, we will take care of you» spa feeling from the beginning.
As we were sitting and waiting, a woman came up and introduced herself to me and said she was doing my hair. I was confused because I had asked for the senior stylist, who was a man, and was told he was still working on another client. Although this made me uncomfortable, I was assured by the receptionist that the stylist was good. So I asked her if she could handle my thick, Asian, semi-​wavy hair and showed her the haircut I wanted. She then redirected me back to the senior stylist.
He finally finished up shortly after that, and came over to me to get me started. I was escorted to the shampoo station, hair washed by the nice shampoo lady, and back to the stylist’s seat. My stylist was very nice (main reason I am not giving this review less stars), and discussed with me the pictures of the haircut I wanted. He proceeded to cut wet, and gave me a warning when he was about to cut off all that hair. And then he blew my hair out and started the dry cut. The cut went rather fast, and he used thinning shears, which I abhor and have never been used with the better haircuts I have received. When I told him I wanted to do a wavy style during the cut, he went into style mode right away. No checking of the length, or evenness.
Considering I was doing a major hairstyle change from long to medium length, I felt as though a little more time could have been spent. Not to mention the «wave» he gave me with the flat iron twist turned out to be a curl on the ends, looking nothing like the beach wave hair pics I was showing but rather an old lady bouffant. Maybe because I was the last appointment (he said they closed at 6), that I was rushed and shuffled around like cattle, but that is no excuse for the unevenness.
I have to come back to correct this all the way from uptown. I was really hoping this place would have been it, but sadly I have to say Unilocal has let me down.

Let me preempt this review by saying that I am REALLY picky about my hair. I was only happy with one hairdresser in the past three years but (for reasons I cannot disclose to protect that person) — he is now unavailable. So I turned to Unilocal and did my research. I came across this awesome salon with its 5 star rating and chose Jimmy based on reviews, followed by Lifebooker concierge reiterating that he is the best colorist there. I warily entered the very cute and trendy looking salon preparing myself for the usual NYC attitude from the staff… I was pleasantly surprised by the big smiles and warm welcome from the front desk staff, immediately followed by a beautiful and sweet girl showing me to a comfy waiting area and immediately offering to take my coat. I literally waited 2 minutes before I met my new favorite person in New York– the handsome, sweet, outgoing, supercool and amazingly talented Jimmy. This guy takes the cake on coloring hair (and I’m a blonde who wanted to add blonde and pink highlights/​ombré)!!! He has an amazing eye for what would look best on his client, gives a great blowout, and perfect trim. Not only did I walk out looking like a model, (literally, heads were turning and my über driver asked if I had a boyfriend lol) …but I also walked out with a new best friend. Jimmy is the absolute sweetest and most fun to talk with and enjoy time with while he makes you gorgeous. He spent about 4 hours on my hair and I enjoyed every second of it. Usually getting my hair done is a task… This time it was a super fun experience with breathtaking results. The salon owners both personally introduced themselves (#adorable sweethearts)! And I felt comfortable and at home there from start to finish. I would give this salon 10 stars if I could. Jimmy is a gem. A rare one. And now a new friend. Yay!!! I will definitely be back and HIGHLY recommend the salon itself and definitely Jimmy with complete and total confidence. Especially if you’re a blonde who fears new colorists!!! xx thank u Jimmy I love you!!!

I’ve been searching for a hair salon that is semi-​affordable and fabulous all in one. Valentino and Jet did not disappoint! First, I was incredibly difficult making the appointment (I must have changed it at least 4 times in 2 days), but they were so accommodating. My stylist was Jimmy and he was amazing. They took my coat when I arrived and Jimmy offered me a glass of wine (already winning). I have long hair that is very thin and I gave Jimmy free reign. He suggested a lob (long bob) which ended up looking great. I left very happy; this is definitely my new go-​to spot!

I just wanted to take a moment to rave about my wife Melinda’s new colorist, Jimmy, at Valentino & Jet Hair Salon on Tenth Avenue in Manhattan. My wife’s colorist recently retired, and her best friend recommended Jimmy as a replacement.
Melinda came home from her first appointment with Jimmy feely extremely happy and looking very, very beautiful. She said that going to Valentino & Jet was like attending an event! She said that she had been treated like royalty. Everything was perfect; the cucumber water; a hand massage; a neck massage during shampooing, and the best coloring, cut and styling that she has ever had. The staff is magnificent, and the owner, Valentino, is a pure delight! He makes it his business to ensure that each client who comes in feels welcome, special and beautiful.
Jimmy is extraordinarily talented. My wife is very particular about her hair, and she wants it colored a specific shade of medium brown that many colorists have found difficult to replicate. Jimmy nailed the shade on the first try. On top of that, he gave her a beautiful cut and an outstanding blowout.
Jimmy is also extremely engaging, warm and friendly. He is truly charismatic; the kind of person you would want to spend time with even if he wasn’t a miracle worker in the realm of hair care, in his own right.
Her second experience was even better than the first. Jimmy was fully familiar with her needs and preferences after their first encounter, and she came home renewed, happy and stunning!
We got our very fickle and ultra– selective eighteen year old daughter into the act on the third trip to the salon, and even she came away a fan!

Best blowout I have ever had! Eve was fantastic. I have very thick, frizzy hair, but she made it shiny and bouncy and smooth. The salon is quiet and clean. Can’t say enough nice things!

Found this place on lifebooker, bought a $ 40 haircut deal. My stylist, Mia’s normal price for a cut is $ 60-​$ 70, so a decent savings.
This spot had a decent crowd and lots of people coming in and out. I did not have to wait long per my 2pm appt time before meeting Mia and quickly chatting with her about the trim I wanted. The guy who shampooed my hair was very friendly and sweet.
Overall appreciated how Mia was no nonsense and very clear about what or how she was cutting my hair and why. Towards the end of the cut, when I’d normally trim my side bangs, I realized we didn’t part my hair far enough to the right so Mia was not able/​refused to cut in any bangs. So will have to grow them out some more more.

Valentino & Jet Hair Salon is my favorite! I originally found Valentino (a.k.a. Oscar) at a different salon a few years ago, and I was so pleased to discover he had opened his own place right near my apartment. He is not only a true artist, giving me an excellent cut and blow out every time, but he also is super friendly, stylish, and fun to visit. The salon is clean, nicely decorated, and hip. The prices are quite reasonable, and the experience is always a pleasant one. I have naturally curly hair, and Oscar knows how to cut it so that it works well whether I wear it curly or straight. I highly recommend this salon and Oscar. If you are looking to try somewhere new, go here. You will not be disappointed.

My 16 yr old daughter walked in there today to consider a style and cut while we are visiting NYC from the west coast and staying at a nearby hotel. She’s a ballet dancer and had some particular needs on length, being able to accommodate a ballet bun, etc.
They could not have been nicer to her. Valentino was an accomplished dancer himself and spoke to her in detail in a way that made my daughter excited to be there and confident she’d come to the perfect salon.
Stephanie cut her hair and was so kind and careful in the cut and style.
When they were finished and we left and got out on the street, my daughter looked at me and said, «I have never looked glamorous but now I do!»
It was a great experience.

I chose this place on the basis of price, proximity to my job, and positive Unilocal reviews — and it was a good match. They were very friendly on the phone, and I was welcomed nicely upon walk-​in. I was offered a variety of drinks, sat in a comfy chair, and waited about 15 minutes.
Nico was very friendly and gentle washing my hair, and though I’ve got a pretty basic haircut, my stylist — a young woman whose name I forget — used scissors and took great care to make sure it met both her and my standards.
A good job, and worth the $ 35.

EDIT: Amazing place, any issues you have they will do anything they can to make it right. Very appreciative towards my stylist. He came in early for me, even when he didn’t feel good. Jimmy was amazing. I highly recommend him for color. He took my thoughts and ideas in consideration and made my hair completely gorgeous. His blow out skills are great, made my hair look beautiful for once. Reasonable Prices and even gave me a discount. Over 20 years experience in color and hair.

I am always worried to try a new place for fear I might get someone who did not know what they were doing. My experience with Jimmy was exactly the opposite. People were starring at my hair as I walked out, my hair has never looked better. Thank you so much for my new found love for my hair.

One of my favorite salons in midtown, this is a total hidden gem in the neighborhood. It’s cleaner than any salon in the area (a big plus, believe me) and Niko washes my long, wavy hair like a pro every time. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I believe strongly that the hair washing process is so crucial for a good hairstyle at the end. Blowouts with Alex are also amazing, and as a full time beauty editor, I feel I can say this with confidence. He’s kind, funny, and works quickly to master just about whatever style you’re going for. TOTALLY RECOMMEND.

I am thrilled by how much I love my hair after Stephanie salvaged it from the crispy damage I had when I arrived! She is truly talented, and I also love her as a person.
My hair was so damaged when I walked into Valentino that I’d been wearing it almost exclusively in ponytails and bobby pins to hide it. I recently went from black hair to brown hair, and it was stripped and processed to an excessive degree (basically, it looked like I’d been electrocuted). The attached «before» picture doesn’t do the ravaging of my hair justice.
Stephanie rescued my hair! After seeing the amazing reviews for Valentino & Jet Hair Salon, I decided to give them a try in hopes of getting a trim that would make my hair look less embarrassing. Stephanie exceeded all of my expectations! She made my hair look like I was ready to be in a Vidal Sassoon advertisement, and that’s not an exaggeration. It looks so voluminous and healthy that I look like a different person! Nico was also awesome– he helped with hair-​washing and a treatment that brought my hair back to life. The entire staff and ambiance is welcoming and kind.
Long story short, I love Stephanie and this salon. I’ll definitely be back soon for some hair coloring before my wedding. Thank you!!!

I’ve been a client of Valentino for about 5 years now and would follow him to the end of the earth if I had to. I recently moved back to Boston and I actually take the train down to NYC to get my hair colored and cut by him STILL — he has become a dear friend in fact! My hair comes out exactly how I want it — everytime.
The salon is beautiful on the inside and the staff are as friendly as it gets. Beverages are offered and the music is always great at a nice, mellow volume. The entire experience is a real treat.

Went in because I have a membership where I get unlimited blowouts every month for a set price. I have to accept the salon they send me to in order to use the service.
This was my first time using this service so I was a little hesitant, but I need not have worried, this place ROCKS.
They put me with Eve who did the best blowout I believe I’ve ever had in my life. Really impressive. The only thing I hesitated about was that when I asked about other services they quoted me higher prices than they had listed. I felt kind of, eh, about that, but it didn’t deter me from definitely coming back here! Awesome experience!

Great salon, I was doing lots of research before I went and came out as a very happy customer. Definitely will go back soon. I (a man) got the desired (even better) hair cut by Maria. It’s been a while since the last time and afterwards I got tons of compliments from my female and also male colleagues. Btw, the haircut was quite conservative (and not too short!).
Maria listened to my broad description and totally got the essence from it. I’m a student from Europe and just got here a few months ago, so I don’t know most of the technical terms yet.

The place is spacious and clean. Friendly workers.
I came in with a lifebooker for partial highlights, Hillary didn’t try to low ball me like the many salons do, deciding «partial» really means like «20 foils». Especially since I have a lot of thick hair, 20 foils would probably cover like 2 inches back.
Anyways, excellent experience. I came in with years worth of double processed platinum blond hair, but was interested in toning down the blond to a warmer honey color. She suggested I put low lights in to make the whole flow. I totally agreed and the price was VERY reasonable. She also suggested I put a glaze in to add shine to the entire head and make the ends less «broom-​like» (My words, not hers0. My hair is pretty damaged and I know it needs a lot of work and $$ to get it to where I want it to be after destroying it for years with packets of blue lightening over my bathroom sink, so Hillary wasn’t selling me anything. I told her what my desired look was and she let me know how to attain it. I just bought the lifbooker as like a coupon, I had always expected to get more work done after it was recommended.
Anyways, the point is, it was great! She is super friendly, down-​to-​earth, but with an artsy feel about her. She is one of those women that can talk about anything and so was the woman who washed my hair (they must have special training for that at the salon or something).
In the end I walked out with a HUGE smile. My hair hadn’t looked that good in years. I messed it up pretty bad and had to chop off like 2ft, since it was all falling out anyways. Well, I know I still need to chop some off, but Hillary made it look good enough to bare the new length. I really do love the color.
She called it apricot, which made me feel real juicy :)
I’ll be back in 8 weeks.
