This place feels legit. Tiny, intimate atmosphere. I wouldn’t label myself as a wine expert at all, and had some troubles making sense out of the menu(which is mostly in French to make it even more daunting). But our waiter was super cool and helpful, and even let us taste a couple of different wines before purchasing. Ended up with a very rich delicious red wine and a good time.

Love wine? This place is for you. Only sorta like wine? This place is also for you. Don’t like wine? Suck it up, cupcake. Came here for a late weekday nightcap, after hanging out in the West Village. I felt that this might be more of a restaurant than a wine bar with food, but it worked out pretty well. I don’t know much about wines, except that there’s red and white, and wines that are older(usually) are better? Who knows. In all of my wine idiocy, the waitstaff was very helpful in picking out something good, after both of us gave our preferences of a flavor profile. The place itself is pretty tiny, dimly lit at night, and pretty good digs for a date. My only qualm that it can be a little cramped, and the tables are very close to each other, but my thought is just to speak a little softer, and sit a little closer. Ohhhh, yeah. Service was excellent, as previously mentioned, and incredibly helpful. Prices are on par for a West Village wine bar, with wines and beers coming in about $ 9 – 10 per glass. Didn’t get a chance to try the food, but I managed to glance at what the waitstaff was bringing to other tables, and it all looked pretty darn good. The charcuterie and cheeses sounded pretty good, and from the looks of everything, it seemed like they know what they’re doing here with the meats and cheeses. From the website, it seems that the rest of the menu consists mostly of small bites, snacks, and sandwiches, but there are some ingredients that are more unique than your typical sandwich shop, so definitely worth a try for a casual snack or low-key meal. Apparently, there are free wine tastings on Mondays, which aren’t a bad idea at all, if you’re looking to learn a little about wine, and get sloshed along the way, ha. Might be a little aggressive on a Monday night, but hey, gotta live it up a little. Overall, I found Vin Sur Vingt to be a bit more intimate and the overall waitstaff more personable than at Amelie, which used to be my go-to wine bar in the area. After coming here, however, that may have changed. I’ll be back to give a try for a weekday or weekend date night.

Vin sur Vingt could humble even the worst wine snob. These people know their vino and ordering is just a beautiful experience. Came on a first date, and after sitting there awkwardly staring at the menu, both of us trying to impress each other but clearly confused out of our minds, one of the sommeliers saved us. She let us sample a few reds that were exactly what I’d described I wanted. And a good chunk of change later, I was a happy drunk. We didn’t try the food though the charcuterie and cheese plates sounded amazing. I’ll definitely be back for those. In sum, Vin sur Vingt is what the west village is all about. And in a sea full of wine bars, it truly stands out for its expertise. Thank you for existing!

I took my girlfriend here last night and we had an incredible experience. This wine bar is quaint, cozy, and friendly. It has a great Parisian vibe to it — trendy music, great mirror placement, and a lively ambiance. I had been here once before with my girlfriend, and we were trying to remember where exactly it was in the West Village because it is somewhat tucked away. But we eventually found it, and now we won’t forget again. The restaurant was packed when we arrived — there was not one seat in the house. The host told us it would be a five minute wait, and when it took longer, he surprised us with two glasses of champagne while we waited outside. It only took another five or ten minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait(the champagne kind of helped) The wine was incredible, the escargot was delicious, and the bartender even surprised us with a free dessert for trying a glass of wine she recommended. It was an incredible experience. If you are looking for a romantic wine bar in NYC, you cannot go wrong with this place.

Good wine bar. Didn’t try the wine because we were waiting for the rain to stop to go to another bar. It has few options for other things that are not wine and the beer is ultra expensive. The beer of the day which was the cheapest was $ 9! The other ones $ 12! The wines are french only so again if you don’t know french wines you don’t have other options. At least you do have other options of places to go ;-)

Free wine tastings on Wednesdays but call ahead to confirm. I think they change it up some nights. I love this little spot for the knowledgeable and friendly staff. They tend to move at a relaxed pace so you’ll want to go here when you can stick around for a bit. The bites are pretty good too, I’ve only had a few but they make do with their small menu.

Our first visit to Vin Sur Vingt was great. Our second visit was not. The menu clearly states Rose bottles are half price on Monday’s from 4:00pm — 9:00pm. After waiting about 15 minutes for the server to take our order, he informed us this was not the case and the deal ended at 7:00pm. While we pointed out their menu clearly indicates the deal ends at 9:00pm, he didn’t seem to care. Mistakes happen, but his attitude was not appreciated. That, combined with with long wait time, led us to leave without ordering anything.

This place is really cute. Even down to the two seater outside for those waiting for food or having a quick bite. My buddy, Carlos(he is Brasilian, despite what other reviews say about staff being entirely French), works here and I decided to pay a visit with a French woman that I took out on a date. I will say, these Europeans know how to feed you, without overfeeding you. No wonder they all remain so slim. I was totally satisfied after I ate, yet didnt consume nearly as much as I normally would have. By the way, if you swear off bread, at least try the one they use under their Tomato dish. It’ll make you bring it back to your life!

Concept intéressant. Carte des vin recherchée. Menu format tapas… intéressant, mais qui pourrait être plus raffiné pour le prix que l’on paye. Choix limité. Service parfait et sympathique. Ambiance décontractée.

A small hidden gem! One of the best places in the west village and perhaps all of NY. An education on French wines is not required but you will learn lots from the friendly and accommodating staff. They are subtle in their service but warm in their delivery. The place is 1000 square feet of heaven. A great spot for a date or meeting with friends! Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!

INSHORT: A sliver-sized space in the West Village with a few round tables for two and a couple more seats at the bar. All the staff is French — take their recommendations. THESTORY: Despite its tiny quarters, the wine list at Vin Sur Vingt is thorough and exceptional, with over 50 varieties by the glass from Alsace, Burgundy, Champagne, and the like. The all-French wine list also changes frequently, enticing anyone to come back and perhaps even finish a bottle of one of their more special selections. Small bites like quiche and tartines with brie, salmon, or duck are also available on the menu, though the wine bar’s fromage selection may prove just as extraordinary as their wine list. For a lovely beginning or end to a quiet date night, Vin Sur Vingt offers a wine and cheese pairing with 3 cheeses and 3 wines for $ 29. This, if you ask me, is better than any dessert the Village has to offer.

This is a great place. It has a fantastic selection of wines in a super super cozy situation with awesome taste in music, ahem, for us folks on the back 40 and living and loving the wine life. Oh yes! It’s heaven. No stupid tv’s, real candles on the tables, the bartender who really is one, not some air-head. The place is very close to the Village Vanguard, and I can’t wait to go back and try the food. Definitely a great place

The absolute best wine bar in New York City, hands down. — Great selection of all types of French wines, whether White, Red, Rose or Sparkling. — Food is amazing, whether a cheese and charcuterie plate, beef bourguignon, or Croque Monsieur. — Staff is incredible, from Sebastian the owner, to Mass and Carlos. — Wonderful cozy atmosphere makes going to this place a true delight.

I’ve been to quite a few wine bars… But this place has outdone itself. Alex is so accommodating and really makes every patron feel important. We asked him for recommendations, took them, and were not disappinted in the least! They have an extensive wine list. We had almost everything on their menu including the wine & cheese pairing… They’re all delicious! Their honey toasted brie & escargot really stood out to me! I prefer this location to their other one, Vin sur vintage nomad near thr flatiron district.

This review is based on the fact that the staff at the 11th street VSV outpost seem to be woefully out of contact with their website, and ultimately their patrons. I tried to go to VSV last year around this time, after confirming the hours, and it was closed for construction. To be re-opened at a future date – that was all. Nothing on their website stated as much. I just stood outside reading the sign on the door along with two other would be customers. Today, it was the same thing. The website states open at 11 a.m. There are reviews about their brunch all over the place. Yet, I get there, open the door and see a bunch of people eating pizza. I asked what time they opened, and one woman, the least baffled of the bunch, said 4 p.m. I mentioned that the website states otherwise, and they all shrugged. As if it were my fault. I used to want to go here, but after two attempts, it’s just not worth the effort. Get it together and live up to your whimsical play on words title, cuz right now you are batting 0 for 2, rather zéro à deux

This is a typical wine bar, located in the villages. The place is pretty lively, which can be good or bad, depending what you are interested in – personally I prefer my wine bars to more quiet so I can either have a conversation or appreciate the sensual pleasure of indulging in a glass of unique wine. The first thing you notice is that Vin Sur Vingt is rather crowded — the tables are small and seating is cramped, and people often bumped into the back of my seat. A less careful wine drinker could have potentially spilled something on my shirt so that is obviously a concern. The place feels more like a bar specialising in wine than a true wine connoisseur’s spot. Onto the wine list itself — rather impressive for New York and it’s price range(which was reasonable). I had a flight of French wines that two whites, a rosé and two reds. The wines were served a little too warm(especially the whites) which led to the flavour not being as great as one would expect, so I feel that the servers need some training in proper wine service. However the wines they served were not particularly bad — interesting profiles definitely, especially for someone that normally drinks New World wines. Overall it’s a decent place to have a glass of wine with a friend(or a bottle) but I wouldn’t consider this place as a good date spot or a place to savour a really special glass of wine, which is a shame because the latter is really lacking in New York.

Came here for drinks with some friends and the lady on Thursday night. Getting in: — Made a reso in advance Atmosphere: — Small and intimate /cozy setting — Much more of a wine bar than a resto — There are 10 or so seats at the bar as well as some round tables(2 – 4 person) along the other wall Service: — Service was good and polite Drinks: — Nice little wine list which leans French but it is a little pricey Other: — Good place to meet some friends and have a bottle(or few) of wine — I’m glad I tried this place out, but, like another reviewer said, won’t become my go to wine bar in this area

This place is a small venue — pretty packed in at 11pm on a Friday night. We only waited for about 10 minutes so people go in and out a lot. Definitely don’t come with more than 2 people. They have small tables that barely fits if you order food. I tried the combo meat and cheese plate for $ 30 which was pretty good deal. It was good, as well as the rose wine we got. Oh and you get refills of bread ^.^. Overall, nice place.

I love this place. I just do. So romantic, so sweet… very French-like. A great place to catch up with a friend — not too noisy. Only annoying thing is the tables are SO close to each other so maybe not the place to share that story of the crazy position you and your significant other just tried in the bedroom(unless it’s so great you think the world should know about it) Great selection of wine and the beet salad is TODIEFOR. Comes in a jar with lots of good stuff on the bottom under the beets(avocado, nuts, cheese… mmmmm) Highly recommend on a summer weeknight

By light, Vin Sur Vingt serves Gallic fare in a bright, inviting atmosphere that’s authentically French, right down to the signage, with a menu that’s not shy to admit it: try their eggs au plat, paired with a wine flight[1]. By night, candlelight transforms this wine bar into one of the most romantic West Village spots around. While Vin’s square footage can mean potential eavesdropping might happen, murmurs of sweet nothings will matter little once you’re well into a Rinquinquin. It’s a refreshing apéritif, served on the rocks. Service is top-notch. If Carlos or Mass are working the bar, high-five them from me. They’re gentlemen and scholars, and made it a no-brainer for me to give Vin its high praise. [1] «Paired» doesn’t feel like the right word, but I can pair my meal with a flight if I want!
