Disclaimer: I have never had Vinny’s before 2am, and never when sober BUTSERIOUSLYEVERYTIME I’VEHADIT, ITHASBEENAMAZINGGGGGGGG! I’ve tried the margarita, artichoke, grandma, vodka, and probably a lot of others that I don’t remember — but my FAVE = VODKA. Hands down, the best slice there. Sure it’s a little more than the $ 1 slice(I think it’s around $ 2?), but it totally makes up for it in flavor. Also these slices are generous! They heat it up so the crust is perf, the sauce is sooooooo tasty, and the cheese just the right amount of gooeyness — all without compromising the crispiness of the underlying bread. MMMMM! 4 stars because I definitely am wary of the sanitation … But not enough that I will stop eating at Vinny’s. Seriously, any night that ends with Vinny’s is a good night!

BEST1DOLLAHPIZZAINNYC Though I don’t proclaim to be the authority on dollar pizza, pizza is bae and I’ve frequented at least a dozen dollar pizza joints in Manhattan to come to the conclusion that this is the chosen one. For whatever reason, there is definitive difference in taste and quality between $ 1 pizza and the $ 2 – 3 slices that are offered at the more bougie places. Can’t quite put my finger on it but usually the red sauce is runnier/tastes more like marinara sauce and the crust is soggier on the dollar slices. That being said, the slices from Vinny Vincenz look and taste like they belong in the upper echelon of pizza hierarchies. They’re sizable, the crust is yeasty and crusty, red sauce tastes fresh and not too sweet, and the cheese is gooey to the max. Too many times I scarf down a slice and, unable to resist the temptation, walk the walk of shame back to counter with another tattered dollar in my hand in exchange for another piping hot slice of those crack pies for another 10 seconds of gastronomical bliss.

This is the best dollar slice I’ve had in NYC. It tasted like a $ 3 slice from another pizzeria. Also, there’s plenty of seating with tables, and the employees are very nice. Definitely a place to check out in the neighborhood.

Great dollar slices, $ 2 for pepperoni, overpriced for pretty much everything else. Nice guys working here for the most part, it’s clean, and they are fast.

I don’t actually like their style pizza that much but I still come here because they’re consistent and it’s a nice establishment. I prefer thick & chewy pizza, theirs is on the thin side & crispy. If that matches your preferences then you might be happy. The $ 1 slices are always hot and fresh. For a cheap pizza place they have a nice seating area. Customer service has always been great, and the guys behind the counter aren’t shady & creepy like some other pizza shops. Very nice décor & atmosphere. Best value I’ve found in the vicinity.

Best pizza place in NYC. I love their pizza crunchy warm and good. Best pizza ever. It’s only a dollar cheap for students and it’s in the best place which is near the gym so when your hungry after gym just pop a dollar and get a pizza slice with cheese that’s stringy.

Ali, you make incredible pizza! Although their regular slice costs $ 1 make no mistake it is not a dollar slice. All ingredients are thought through to make a tremendous NY Slice! The proportions are spot on and have me coming back again and again!

Vinny Vincenz’s dollar pizza beats out all the rest! It doesn’t have the reheated taste that other places have. I love that their cheese is stringy and the bread isn’t crispy and hard. The slices are also huge. The pizza here is better than a lot of other pizza places that sell slices for $ 2.50-$ 3.00, so I am always willing to trek to this side of town for the better deal. I’ll admit that sometimes the pizza is inconsistent — but taking average of all my visits, it’s still better than most. It just depends on how fresh the pie is. They also have a variety of other slices like margherita, artichoke, grandma etc. at normal prices, and they are delicious as well. The place is large and has a lot of seating. I love that they have tomato cans as light fixtures. The staff here is very friendly and hardworking. This is definitely one of my favorite non-gourmet pizza spots in the city!

These guys are so focused on getting dollar slices out that they barely accept«real» orders and don’t keep many good pies ready for orders. Dollar slicies are slow to come and mediocre anyway, don’t come here for that. The pizza is great otherwise but not worth the wait. Order takeout from here but otherwise skip it.

Not the best — not the worst. It is what it is — just a buck. Crust tasted how I imagine cardboard to taste.

This review is based purely on late night food availability on the weekends. This is by FAR the best place to get $ 1 pizza late at night. Friends and I get a pie every time we come back from the bars. The line can be long and people can get impatient but the dollar pizza is definitely worth it after a night of drinking. Will most likely be back again!

Decent place. I usually come here for the dollar slice because they’re other slices are over priced for the quality of them. Good if you want to eat cheap pizza. Nothing stands out about the slice though

They are so rude and they talk down on you. They look at you like if you killed one of their family members. My man and I ordered two slices and as soon as he went to heat it up he was like pay me and I was like hold on like really. I should of just left as soon as he came out at us like that cus the pizza tasted dry and disgusting not even worth a penny. I didnt even eat the whole slice thats how bad it was. I am so upset to get treated that way cus I treat everyone with respect. They shoild work at a prison commissary thats where they belong. If they dont care how to treat a customer than they dont care how they manage the food yuk. Never again stepping in that dumpster of a place.

I bet this is the best $ 1 slice. I’ve had it now fresh and reheated and both are very good, especially considering the price. Nice employees too.

Dollar slices at Vinny Vincenz rival the 2.50÷2.75 slices of many of the regular pizza places around the city. Enough said. I visited late at night, around 1:30 or 2:00AM, and service was nice and quick. Will definitely be returning regularly. Slices were cooked perfectly and cheese was great tasting complimented by just the right enough amount of sauce.

One of the worst $ 1 pizza I’ve had. It literally tastes like cardboard. Not enough tomato sauce and almost close to no cheese.

Bar hopping in the East Village last night. Needed some cheap pizza in my belly to help soak up the beer. Sure, it’s a dollar for a regular slice so I didn’t expect much. Ok crust and decent sauce. Still, eating this was like biting into a piece of sorrow and shattered dreams. Even the crowd in here last night looked like sadness and depression. So overrated. Holy crap its hotter in here than out in the street. Took my $ 1 slice outside and dumped half in a garbage can. Good thing it was just a dollar.

Don’t go if there are so many better options nearby! I asked for a cheese calzone like I have been ordering there for years. He rudely said no and I said and you please make one to order and he again was rude. This is why the place is empty and will remain this way if such customer service remains. Just say NO!

A slice of regular cheese pizza here is a $ 1. It’s thin, not much cheese on it. The crust & the sauce are decent. Overall, it’s a decent slice for a buck. As for the service, it’s alright, decent service. We can’t really say much about the service. If you’re nearby just looking for something quick to eat & cheap, it’s worth stopping by.

I’m still wary of most of the specialty slices, but rated on the plain slice alone they deserve all 5 stars and then some. It’s almost as good as Joe’s. It’s a dollar and yet it seems the crust and the tomato sauce get a little more savory, the slice gets a little bigger, and there’s a little more cheese on it every time I visit. This place needs to stick around. Also, they’ve got a significantly better artichoke slice than Artichoke Pizza does.

My 4 star review is an average of 2 separate visits to Vinny Vincenz. When my go-to pizzeria(Two Bros) closed down on 1st Ave, I immediately sought a replacement. My first trip to VV was last summer and I got my standard order: 2 slices and a soda. The pizza then was solidly average. Nothing spectacular, nothing really wrong with it either. At that time, the crowds in here were non-existent, i suspect due to the lack of air conditioning. I would have rated it a 3-star. Fast forward to last week. After the Instagram account @DollarPizzaSliceNYC rated this the highest thus far in the city, I came back for another trial order. This time, the pizza tasted completely different than before. Now the likelihood of them changing their recipe in the past 6 months is slim, so I attribute the change of quality to the increased patronage generated by the Instagram account, and closing of other nearby pizzerias. The more people there are, the quicker pies come out and the fresher the slice you get to shove into your mouth. The fresh dough was chewy but not spongy, thin but solid, great cheese density and sauce to cheese ratio. The sauce itself was a bit on the sweet side for me, but still a solid slice. I would have rated them 5 stars for a dollar pizza joint based on this slice. But… due to the inconsistency between the two visits, I thought it only fair to present them with an average, a 4-star rating. But in the end, does it really matter? You are going to eat a dollar slice based on convenience not on rating anyway… just know that if you have to duck in here for a slice or two, you will probably be alright.

The specialty slices here are steeply priced and unpopular, and though they may be good, said popularity means they’ll have been sitting around. This place is widely regarded as one of the better dollar slices, but the staff takes their sweet time even during massive rushes, which means a lot of folks will walk or peek in and they pull a 180 and head across to Joey Pepperoni where their 1 staffer is twice as efficient as the two here. Went with a regular slice for a buck and was neither impressed nor offended, but a dollar slice is supposed to be a quick, cheap fix and they don’t deliver on the former.

There is nothing I could write about this place that would be extraordinary. It’s just a basic pizza place. Very average. Try this place if you are in the vicinity. But if you find any other place, you could go there instead.

There are a ton of dollar slice pizzerias in the east village, Vinny Vincenz is the only one that is an actual pizzeria — not some tiny little stall with an oven and weird soggy pizza(ie. the $ 1 slice place on 14th btwn 2nd&3rd). As such, the pizza actually tastes good. They also have plenty of seating.

Ordered take out with Seamless from here. Order was processed quickly and we had hot food on our plates in 40minutes. Food: We ordered 3 different portions and they were all reasonably good. Nothing special but really solid and tasty take out. Service: Seamless delivery was quick and the food was hot on arrival. Price: Price is decent. I think they have pretty good food for the $$. EVENFORDRUNCHIES at 3 am. i could barely force myself to finish this pizza because the toppings & crust were mediocre! i’ve definitely had better«dollar pizza» ALTHOUGH i usually try to avoid dollar pizza joints all together if i can help it. NYC has other great pizza to be had! TIP: reheated slices tasted better than the slices that were fresh out of the oven because the crust was crispier! —$ 1 plain cheese(you can add toppings for another dollar): my boyfriend got sausage… but i’d say save your extra buck —$ 2.50 A la vodka slice: SKIP —$ 2 white slice w/ricotta: no thanks LOTS of seating in contrast to artichoke pizza around the corner NOTE: the older guy working behind the counter has«waves» of making a ton of pizza one after another to fill the counter(after most pizza has been sold). come during these ‘waves” & you’ll have a huge selection of fresh pizzas

–Decent $ 1 pizza especially since there is competition with 2 Bros Pizza and Joey’s Pepperoni. –The crust is fairly thin and not too doughy. It can be crisp or flimsy depending on how long it came out of the oven –The sauce is is mild to normal.
