Ed and his guys are simply an awesome team of workers. Not only was he extremely quick to reply, but him and his team got the job done to my exact needs, worked on the pricing and details with me, and even worked around our hectic schedule and crazy co-​op board restrictions. I reached out to him after a friend and I realized we needed our studio split properly. We wanted a T shaped wall but made of bookshelves for better storage.
The first day, the guys arrived on time and ready to work. However, due to some unforseen circumstances with the apt, we had to reschedule for another day, after they had already trekked out to me. Ed rescheduled my appointment and even tried dealing with my uncooperative board and super. The next time the guys arrived, everything went much smoother. They told me it would take them about 7 – 8 hours to build, paint and install the shelves and walls. At first, I thought they would not finish by our building’s 5pm cut off time for any remodeling work and have to return the next day. To my surprise, they were finished just as I got home.
I am extremely happy to say that not only did Ed and his guys build exactly what I needed, but that they were also respectful to my apartment and dog who was in the apartment at the time. They cleaned up every last spec of dust and left my apartment in the exact condition it was left. Every time my friends come by and see the new installation, they are amazed at how good it looks and ask who did the job. If you’re inbetween companies, please do yourself the favor and contact Ed!

Edison was a excellent and I wholly recommend him! He was prompt, flexible, cheaper than his competitors and did an amazing job. I had him build two walls and then changed my mind and asked him to come back to add windows. He was able to do both in a timely fashion and even gracefully dealt with a cantankerous building super in my absence. He also followed up with me about a non-​wall request I had and gave valuable advice, despite it not being his business’ focus.
No reservations about hiring him again!

Edison built a wall with door to close off my upstairs loft space and did an amazing job. When I first contacted him by phone to get an estimate he was very pleasant to work with and quick to respond. After calling several places to get quotes, Edison was by far the cheapest, and it ended up being great quality too.
On the day of building the wall, everything went smooth. The job was quiet, they cleaned up after, and the whole thing only took 5 hours. I’d definitely recommend Wall the Partition, fast, easy, and nice.

Edison is a very responsive, helpful contractor who came to see my space on a Sunday night, examined all the steps necessary (tearing down a closet, building 2 walls connected by an angular wall, and making it all soundproof) — shook his head and asked us to sit down before giving a price. We had to ask him to sit down! The price was more than I expected, but it was worth it. The next morning, he showed up at 9 am with another worker who proceeded to kick and punch down the Sheetrock walls, and by the end of the day the closet was gone and the framing was up for the new walls! The job was completed in 4 days, perfectly clean, soundproofed and smooth, to my specifications. I recommend him and would use him again in a heartbeat!

I had a whole vision for what I wanted to create in order to make my studio more of a one-​bedroom. I had even taken the french doors from my last apartment (a one-​bedroom), because I wanted to create the partition using them, and Edison made my dream come true — it looks gorgeous.
I called him one day, he came in and took a look, and when I told him I wanted this done ASAP he said, «How’s tomorrow?» Unbelievable. From the moment he walked in, he got down to business, measured, explained, gave me options. He is the perfect combination of «craftsman meets scrappy work environment», meaning he did not sacrifice quality or attention to detail even while having to work in my small NYC space. He really made magic and it looks better than I could have imagined. There is a big difference between just knowing how to «build» something and also having a delicate hand and an eye for aesthetic quality and clean work — I hadn’t asked for crown molding but he added it knowing what style I was going for and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Another note, I had been especially vocal about how thin the walls and ceilings and floors are, and to please be careful to make as little noise as possible (it was Saturday!) … while some noise HAD to be made in drilling and sawing wood, etc., in general he was very careful and conscious of being discreet with the noise and in the building.
As other people have said, he is clean and sweeps everything up at the end, brings his own trash bags, etc.
All the pros: The man is punctual, flexible, extremely reasonably priced, humble, respectful, and overall has a great spirit and energy.
I feel extremely lucky to have found Edison — excited to stare at my new wall with french doors-​turned-​panels :) Que viva Colombia y su talento!

Edison is the man. I’m so happy with the outcome of our wall. It’s simple beautiful and gorgeous I can’t stop looking at it. I reviewed many others but decided to go with Edison and I’m extremely happy with his work. Do yourself a favor a choose him. I recommend him 1000% his. work speaks for itself.

I am absolutely astounded at the beautiful job Edison and his partner Martin did today, converting our large living room that went into the kitchen with an odd dogleg into a separate room with a built in closet.
Edison is funny and genial on the phone, and made time in his schedule at late notice to come see the space. His quote was very reasonable, well under several other competitors, but not so low as to be scary about cutting quality for price.
He showed up with Martin and the got right to measuring, stepped off to get more materials, and spent the rest of the day making amazing things happen. My building is 116 years old and the ceiling is definitely not parallel with… well, anything, but he made it look really great with his seams and molding. He even put a bi-​part folding door on the closet so we’d have more space usage and it wouldn’t hit an existing wall sconce.
Finally, they cleaned up every speck of dust, and helped me paint a personal little project on the side. Super service and kind guys.
Truly, these guys are above and beyond. I’m super happy now, and am going to go contemplate my wall.

After renting a «convertible two bedroom» in Midtown East, I contacted eight different contractors for quotes on a straight wall to divide my bedroom from the living room.
Edison quickly responded with the lowest price and was able to come install the wall the very next day after I got out of work– a huge plus because sleeping in your living room gets old fast.
Edison and his partner were courteous, meticulous in their attention to detail, and even cleaned up after they were done. I can’t stop showing everyone pictures of my wall/​shelves and would ¹⁰⁄₁₀ recommend their services to anyone looking for temporary wall.
I’m particularly happy with the built-​in shelving he put up in my bedroom. Even with the built-​in shelf, my total was lower than what other contractors had quoted me for just a wall. The shelves are the perfect solution for any closet-​less convertible bedroom; at $ 65 extra, they were way less expensive than buying an Ikea wardrobe and I didn’t have to worry about delivery/construction!b

when i first saw edison i was doughtful if he could do the job.
i needed to make a room and a wall to keep my privacy

and for that room i wanted two sliding doors and the door had to have glass openings so the lights can shine in and make it brighter

I cannot imagine a better experience than working with Edison at Wall the partition. I’ve done 3 walls in my time in NYC spending 80% of my income on rent and Edison was by far the best wall putter upper.
Here are the details:
–Called Edison on a Friday and he was at my apartment on Sat. at 9am.
–Needed complex L shape wall with french doors and book case. Edison said it was no problem and said he’s done many before. He was reasonably priced and didn’t nickel and dime me, each component was priced fairly.
–They immediately called the super of my building and took care of arrangements. He happened to know the super at my building bc he’s done several walls here, so I didn’t have to manage that process.
–He showed up at my apartment exactly at 9am (which was unfortunate since I had a hangover) and completed his task ~5 hours. I actually don’t want someone to finish super fast bc I prefer quality done right.
–He brought in all brand new materials, installed the wall and painted. The baseboards, paint quality, metal frame and drywall was very sturdy and of high quality.
–He cleaned everything up, we hugged out and I subsequently stared at my wall for three hours marveling at the illusion of separation it created between me and my cat loving shower fearing roommate.
I highly recommend Edison, all day erryday! Tell him Thang sent ya!

Edison and his team were absolutely wonderful! First off, the price I paid was hundreds less than what several other wall companies had quoted me. Next, the whole team is extremely hardworking and courteous and did a fantastic job on the wall, which wasn’t an easy task as I have 10′ ceilings that have a drop for recessed lighting and also wanted a glass window on the top of the wall. The wall turned out way better than I expected and looks great. Lastly, the team did such a good job cleaning up the work area and ensuring my hardwood floors were left shiny and free of debris.
I highly recommend Edison and his team for their attention to detail, focus on customer service, and professionalism — you won’t be disappointed!

I rarely write Unilocal reviews but this one was worth it. Edison and his crew are simply fantastic!
I emailed them with my job specifications on Saturday. He got back to me within a couple of hours to make arrangements for Sunday. He gave a very competitive quote and was one of the few contractors available over the weekend.
They were there on time, even a little early and got to work immediately. We had to move stuff around and the entire crew were quick to help and make the process as efficient as possible. They really went above and beyond because they had to move heavy items out of the way for me. This is not something you would get from other contractors. I was very impressed with how clear Edison was about his plans for the wall and any hiccups along the way. Edison and the crew worked through the day (and on a cold day at that!) and moved quickly.
The job was a bit difficult as the ceiling height changed throughout the room but the end results were great. Entire process was just under 5 hours including cleanup/​setup. Honestly, I think this looks better than any other room in the apt! :)

Edison is amazing!!! Edison and his team installed a custom temporary wall with pocket french door in my living room so I could have a small bedroom and more privacy. The wall looks great (see picture). They were extremely professional and courteous and worked quite fast (entire process took about 4.5-hrs including final clean up). The attention to detail was spectacular (crown molding, plastering, painting, cleaning, etc.). Edison cleaned up afterwards and left my apartment spotless… he was in his hands and knows wiping down the floor!!! They were also very careful when bring the materials and equipment into my building… I even saw them cleaning up in the building’s public area where they passed by. Also, their prices were the best. Edison comes himself and supervises all the work at all times throughout the entire process.

I was looking for a room divider with sliding French door and got few estimates from different company.
Edison gave me good estimate plus good feeling that I’m going with a private trustful handy-man.the reviews he got here also helped me to make a decision .he worked really clean and nice kept my walls and furniture safe .he did great job and overall I’m happy with the results, the price and the experience of working with him. defiantly will call him again for other project and will recommend to my friends

Edision is the best! Seriously most amazing discovery on Unilocal to date. We had a very complicated projects (2 walls, a bi-​fold door and glass) and Edison was able to do it without a problem. Several other larger companies I called said they wouldn’t be able to come in for another week meaning someone would be sleeping in the living room and their prices were much higher without tax. Edison was reasonable, organized and incredibly efficient. He called back to confirm and even offered to come earlier in the day on Saturday knowing our building might have issues with work being done into the afternoon/​evening. Edison and his team worked their magic in a few hours and the wall was beyond our expectations. We were so impressed by how professional and friendly they were especially on a hectic move-​in day.
After the wall was completed we decided to add plexiglass to the top but unfortunately they didn’t have the materials with them. Edison called me the next day and confirmed a time for early Monday morning to come complete the job and so I could still get to work later in the day. He did an incredible job and it adds even more privacy and still lots of light into the room.
Do not hesitate, call Edison — he will do the best job around! There’s no comparison to anyone else! Thanks for everything!

Edison was amazing!
I called him on Tuesday morning about installing the wall. After he knew I wanted to get this done as soon as possible before my first day of work, which was Wednesday, he agreed to come in the afternoon (although he had a crazy busy schedule already). They were super efficient and built the wall in a timely manner. They also cleaned my place after they finished.
I highly recommend Wall the Partition to everyone! Believe me, you cannot get a better price elsewhere with such good service and such nice people!

Edison did an amazing job on our wall and his quote was by far the best deal I found in the city. He was efficient yet effective and the quality of his work is top notch.
Edison was on time, accommodated our schedule and was happy to get our wall built right away.

My roommate and I rented a studio in Long Island City hoping to turn it into a two bedroom with a T-​wall, but after losing the broker’s fee we found ourselves on a tight budget. Between the two of us we contacted about a dozen wall contractors and all of the quotes came in so high, we considered trying to build the wall ourselves (bad idea).
The night before we needed the wall built, we found Wall the Partition on Unilocal.Edison met us at our apartment at 9pm to talk about what we wanted and gave us a price that made our jaws drop. He said he’s not about ripping off his clients. Go figure!
The next morning, Edison showed up with all of his materials and got to work. He was pleasant, easy-​going, and very careful with our belongings.
The wall was finished in the evening and it was everything we could have hoped for — sturdy, clean T-​wall with two doors and high windows to carry light into the living room. It’s easy to see that Edison takes pride in his work and is committed to delivering quality. He really understood that he was building our HOME!
As long as I’m in New York, Edison will be my go-​to guy, hands down.
