«COCKROACH» founded in bbq pork fried rice after half-way eating. Too disgusting to post a photo here. Keep eating here if you wanna be another lucky one.

March 2016 a few years ago this use to be a good restaurant. I come down here to visit family and I would order from here. Within the last year it has gone completely down hill. The fried rice that you get in the combination platter is just rice, large chunks of onions and bean sprouts and it taste horrible. If you want shrimp egg foo young they charge you an extra dollar because it’s not on the menu and it taste and LOOKS terrible. Soy sauce doesn’t even help. What restaurant doesn’t put shrimp egg foo young on the menu. I will not be going back to this restaurant ever again.

After having been religiously using my own plastic container for buying food from here, I have been liking it more and more. The lunch specials are arguably the best deal you can get from this place. Great variety and a free drink /soup for only $ 6.50. I like the shrimp balls and any chicken menus. Good value and quite tasty for everyday lunch. Again, I reiterate what I said in the previous review: beware of their use of foam containers. When in doubt, bring your own container. It’s good for you, and the earth.

Still good… but not that good, the food here, like all the Chinese food restaurant in NY, has some different flavour from that in China… The combo could only be purchased at noon, what a pity.

Five stars for being reliable and cheap, especially during their lunch special hours. Considering the dearth of places to eat around here, I think the typical variety of Chinese take out menu items really do struggling students a solid. I guess the downside is that there’s a credit card minimum, sometimes they take long to give your food(I’ve never ordered delivery so idk) and they’re not open 24⁄7 But considering the fact that shitty Chinese take out is a staple of all students near and far, this place has a solid thumbs up in my book. I’ve had worse. I mean, I did go to SUNY Albany for undergrad.

Best Chinese food I’ve had in the neighbor hood. I judge according to roast pork mei fun noodles. This place made it exactly the way I love it!

This place is great! Me and my family got everything we wanted which was a small egg drop soup, 2 orders of rib tips, a small order of house special fried rice with onions and scallions, and a small order of house special fried rice with no onions or scallions. Very good if your looking for a place that is cheap and has excellent food.

I’m grateful this place exists. I’ve gotten the lunch buffet so many times, and damn is it greasy but good. Mostly Americanized Chinese food, they also have American fried chicken and fries, and some more authentic options if you order from the menu. Authentic stuff: seaweed, clams, pork bone soup were good when I tried them. Soups are inconsistent(sometimes too thick, too much pepper, etc) Lunch buffet items usually taste the same. My favorite is the broccoli with chicken, mushroom stirfry or the teriyaki chicken. If they have roast pork with cabbage, that’s good too! It is now $ 6.50, unless you pay by card. Credit card min is either $ 8 or $ 10.

I don’t consider myself a foodie but I can appreciate a good meal. I ordered four chicken wings with fried rice and let me tell you the rice was stale and the chicken was dried out and had turned black. It was such an insult to my taste buds I wanted to cry, on top of that the servers were racist they kept repeating the slang word nigger in their broken Chinese language. Never again!

I’m disappointed now. I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and the food was great, but not anymore. I miss some of the original staff that was here. With these new people, they have gone downhill. I’ve ordered the fried chicken with fried rice. The rice had no flavor and the chicken was dry and overcooked. My brother also had a couple of problems. He ordered the Egg Foo Young Combination. It had bits of shell in it and the gravy didn’t taste right. Until things improve here, this restaurant is off my list. It’s sad though, because I really like this place.

Great for cheap Chinese. I go here about once a week, will continue to do so. If you are looking for fancy, this isn’t the place. If you are looking for good pick-up or delivery food, go here!

West place or worst place! Never had anything so bad that I had to actually go on Unilocal to save other people from throwing away their money. If I did a good deed to that was it. The walnut and chicken was horrible, breading was so thick no sauce. I threw it away and I never throw out food. Even the spring rolls were gross. :(I thought it was going to be good too. –Still hungry

Not bad! The weekday lunch special runs from 11:30am to 2pm. The line can be long and goes all the way outside the door. However, the staff are fast so the line moves quickly. There are 4 or 5 tables inside so limited seating is available. However, it gets so loud, it is probably better for takeout. They increased the weekday lunch special price from $ 6.25 to now $ 6.5. For $ 6.5, you choose from their ready-to-serve entrees by the glass window. You get to choose either white or fried rice, 3 entrees, and either soup(egg flower/wonton, etc) or soda. Alternatively, you can also choose from its menu and get white or fried rice, one entrée, soup or soda for $ 6 during lunch hours. For weekend lunch special, you get one entrée for $ 6.25. I think weekend lunch runs from 11am to 3pm but I am not entirely sure. Don’t really expect«services» from here although sometimes staff can be nice. It really depends. I give 4 stars for the speed and cheap price. The food taste not bad either. This is not a place where you sit down and have a nice Chinese(or Americanized Chinese) meal. It is tailored towards students who need some cheap food. Not very family friendly because of the limited seats/tables. Delivery is available and it is $ 7 minimum. I think it is cash only so bring cash just in case. Plus, the rating is now«A» outside its window. Looks like they have made some improvements.

Recently tried this place and have been back several times. Unlike Americanized Chinese food, this place serves cheap and relatively more authentic chinese food than most take outs. Prices for lunch and dinner are really affordable at $ 6+. Dinner specials are delicious and change daily. Lunch set gives 3 sides and rice plus soup or drink, a large portion for $ 6. Go for their specials like pork ribs with rice, braised trotters, etc. Avoid cliché take out food like chow mein to avoid disappointment. Service is good and the people are very friendly. They give out free soups and drinks if you come often too!

This food made me throw up. Literally. That’s all you need to know. But seriously, if you’re not allergic to most of the planet like I am, you may not throw up. But since I’m allergic to MSG I’m pretty sure they used a ton of it in that food. I only paid three dollars for my vegetable lo mein, so I’m not upset that it was completely inedible, but I will surely never send anyone over there. The noodles were colorless and flavorless, and the vegetables were cooked in water. The vegetables were the best part of it, but I might as well just have gotten a steamed dish. If your stomach can handle it, I saw many people enjoying their food and the man and woman at the counter were very polite and patient. But don’t try it if you have more than five dollars. You’re not saving yourself anything.

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I’ve had better Chinese food for cheaper prices back in the San Francisco. The prices are somewhat«cheap», but I guess you get what you pay for… I ordered the sweet and sour pork with white rice and it came with an egg roll… they didn’t have pork, so I had to go with chicken. Egg roll was meh, and as for the chicken, it was deep fried and tossed on top of the rice. Sauce was in a separate container… shouldn’t the sauce be poured onto the chicken? I also expected some pineapple, onions, and bell peppers with the chicken, but there was absolutely nothing. Definitely not worth it! My friend had the beef chow fun and it was tasteless! Noodles were completely white as if it had never touched sauce. My friend had to dump 2 packets of soy sauce on top for some flavor! Never again!

I called in my order for pick-up and the person on the other line had such a hard time understanding me … and likewise. In the end they didn’t have just about everything I wanted to order, and just settled. My food tasted dry and very mustardy — including the rice. The only thing I ended up eating was the salad, but not even with their salad dressing. With all these decent reviews I feel like I came at a bad time and I should give this place another shot … ehhhh, we’ll see. =/

Yet another Chinese-American take out joint. So think MASSIVE amounts of rice in an attempt to divert your attention from mediocre, nay, sub-par fake Chinese food. Sorry, but I’ve tried most of the Unilocaler’s recommendations(even Queenie’s Lake Tung-Ting Shrimp) and also the classic go-to dishes(think Kung-Pao chicken) and a thumbs-down from me. West Place is pretty untasty, and if I lived in the area, I would never order from here.
